My dad served in the Marines just after Korea '53-'56 , he would tell me stories of the old vets that were back from Korea and the time he was inspected by none other than Chesty Puller at Camp Leujune. My Uncle (my dad's baby brother) served with the 1st Marines in Vietnam near Danang and unfortunately he was killed by a grenade in an ambush while on patrol in Quang Nam in April '68. Very strange story because he was killed on a late Sunday night and my mother woke up from a nightmare shaking uncontrollably that somebody was killed. She said it was real and could not go back to sleep. I kid you not. My father would break down in tears and goosebumps whenever he talked about it later on. He was a story teller just like Dom , I mean when i listen to Dom it feels like he's related to me.

I really hope theirs a way of doing an extended directors cut of The Lynchpin Of Bensonhurst..... Without question my all time favourite mafia documentary. I think because im a musician and i see in him his pure love of music and his talent and later on his passion for his art is just very appealing to me plus his gift of storytelling and of course the stories of his wild life is what makes The Lynchpin Of Bensonhurst a cut above any other mafia related documentary... Now compare that with being an 18 year old kid basically right off the mothers teet and think about how you would feel if just a few short months ago you were standing on your HS football field during the big game. Now you are dropped off in some strange land, given a gun and hearing that Sargent saying that to you. I can’t even comprehend the fear that must be in those brave young men. There are people out there that will kill you. There is no safety. You can’t scream “Ok you hit me in the leg. I’ve had enough now”. Scary shit. The best way to treat a veteran, never make him one.
We used a lot of glue in the art studio , especially Dom and he was very particular about his glue getting clogged or fucked up . He made collages with it . Watch our film lynchpin of Bensonhurst on Amazon or tubi and you’ll see his art and how he created the work ..

As an artist myself I can def tell you that Tommy Pitera is a really good illustrator. You can buy his drawings online. John Wayne Gacy was horrible at it. As was Henry Hill. But yeah a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands. Discovering a talent they never knew they had.
