Thank you so much, feedback like this is always appreciated, really nice to hear! Sorry to hear about the shoulder issues, it’s definitely firmer than most “Vcore pro” rackets in recent times. So you may have problems but it’s worth a demo if you can.

Hi Luca, I've been a customer for 20 odd years! Really glad to see that you're making great reviews with footage of all the gorgeous tennis courts around Vancouver. I was wondering if you could do a comparison of the RF97 Autograph and the Percept 97H (and maybe others you think might be relevant). Seeing as it seems that the RF97 is going out of circulation, a lot of us need a potential replacement! Thanks and keep up the great reviews!
Thank you! And thank you for your support all these years! I've been wanting to make an RF video for a while now and I think that would be a great one for comparison; I'll add it to the list!
I think 4x4 inches at 3 and 9 is perfect for the percept. It brings the swing weight to the high 320s and expands the sweet spot horizontally, which stabilizes it even more.
I was playing with 2023 vcore 95s, and after a few hits, switching to a percept 97D. Both great, but loving the 97D slightly more. Did you try the variants, or just the base 97?
Hi Luca, Throwing in a question here in the hope that you still have the time to answer comments on older videos: How would you compare the Vcore 95 vs Pure Aero 98, and for which level/playing style would you recommend the two? I am around 4.0 NTRP and play with the Aero 98. I like it for the most part, but looking at this review I got really excited about the Vcore 95. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
Both are 4.0 plus level rackets IMO. The Vcore 95 definitely has a smaller sweet spot so it's a bit more precise, not quite as forgiving and very similar in terms of spin. The Aero 98 has it beat in power though.
This might be a dumb question. You emphasized the silicone oil infused grommets on the vcore. And my vcore has went through around 10 stringing jobs and the grommets are a little chewed up. Should I replace the grommets or at least reapply the silicone oil for maximum performance?
I like where your head is at. First of all I don’t think you can reapply the silicone oil, so if you did notice a drop off in spin you’d have to replace the grommets. But, I would only do that if you’ve noticed a difference in playability, so don’t worry if they’re just a bit chewed up.
I actually added a similar amount of weight to the percept, I think it just blends in better with the paint job. It’s just something I do with a lot of Yonex rackets, but I tested them both without it and I maintain what I said.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Oh right, my mistake. I wasn't paying much attention. Guess both are solid enough that stability isn't as issue stock. If the 2018 vcore 95 is stable enough for me (at least at the baseline where I hang out most of the time), I doubt either of these 2 will have any stability issues.
Wonderful review, thank you! Does Yonex Percept 97 differs much from Pro 97 in terms of a swingweight? And how does Yonex Percept 100D behave? Is it OK if I want to add some bite but with a good amount of control and feel comparing to the Head Speed Pro?
With the Vcore 95 I get a lot flatter shots with less bounce compared to when I play with a 98. The control is amazing with the 95, beat ever but you have to play and hit the ball like you meant it. There’s no in between when playing that Raquet. The 95 demands a lot I would say. Since I hurt my elbow and shoulder I now play with Head extreme tour 98 and it’s a lot more forgiving. More free power and a lot more spin and the cost of a little lesser control. My plan is to come back and play with the vcore 95 again but not for a while. When going up to 100sq inch head size racquets I don’t like playing with the 16x19 pattern because I lack control. There for if it’s a 100 head size I like a more denser string pattern such as 18x19 or 18x20 like the Head speed pro or the Wilson blade Serena edition with 18x19. Cheers for the video keep it coming 🎊🍻🍻

Great review! I switched from the Vcore 95 to the PA98 simply because of the slightly better consistency of the PA, as well as the crispness at net. The VC95 was *such* a fun racket to use though, insane on serve
Hi, love the video and content you are creating. I am a blade 98 v8 16/19 user and vcorepro 97 2021. Thinking about using the vcore 95 because the stability is outstanding and the smaller head size help me to focus more when hitting the one hand backhand. Do you think i should upgrade or the 95 head is just too hard to use for an intermediate player? PS. My hitting partner/ teacher is a very high level player in my country should be around ATP 1000-1300 and we go at each other quite hard when playing, but i do quite getting bully around the court with the blade98 so is the stability of the 95 helps me or its too demanding in your opinion. Ohh and one last thing i'm a wawrinka and shapov fanboy hope that explain the racket switch.😂
Thank you very much! I do think a 95 is a little bit tough for an intermediate but it sounds like you're getting better pretty quickly so I think you would be ok! Go for it!
Can you compare the Vcore 95 to the ezone 98 please? Maybe as a quick awnser in the comment section please :)? Which do you feel is the better racket :)
Hey Luca, with so many pro players using Yonex rackets these days, do you have any idea what percentage of players are actually using the frame they endorse?
I tested the Percept first and I was like,” I’m gonna buy this”. A week later I wanted to play test it agin at the USTA but they didn’t have it because someone else was demoing. They said the Vcore 95 was similar so I played with it… and I was mind blown! I don’t know what I should go with but this really helped in making my decision!
Thanks for your content Luca. I’ve discovered your channel quite recently. I use the VCore 95. Hit with a friend’s Percept 97 this week and now have massive racket envy. The feel of the Percept was so solid and buttery I’ve got massive racket envy. Could adding some lead to the VCore help make it a bit more stable? If so what would you recommend. I suspect you’ll get to this after Xmas, but just in case you see before have a very Merry Xmas.
Thank you for the support and Happy New Year to you! Adding lead to the hoop on the Vcore 95 will definitely help with stability. I think it's one of the best bits of customization you can do to a racket right now.
I’ve played with the last three versions of the VCore. They all lack any feel and are essentially like playing with a baseball bat. Control? I don’t think so.
How about the 2018 flame red version of the vcore 95? I personally love that racket. I string it with the Babolat RPM Blast 1.25@45 lbs in both mains and crosses.
@@Shankar-Bhaskar A “two by four” or “2x4”, is a piece of wood which is cut 2inches by 4inches and is used to construct things like houses or fences, etc. when you say something “feels like a two by four”, it means it feels like your hitting with a large piece of wood. Hence, “no feel”. Understand?
It's a good question. The Vcore is quite muted so it is it pretty comfortable. The Percept feels a little more jarring (sometimes) so I would give the edge to the Vcore, but just barely.
Another great great review and comparison. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot man. Keep up the good work. Just to get a quick opinion, would the Percept 97 be a good racquet to switch to (or at least demo) if I'm currently on Pro Staff 97 v14? I like everything about the Pro Staff, but I feel that the swing weight may be a little too much to sustain over long hours. Thanks in advance.
It's a change I've made, percept is easier to move, gives me more spin and better backspin, also I feel the ball much better. It's just a bit less stable but overall playability is way better with the percept, no more tired after a three hours match and I serve big bombs. It's a must try.
I think the percept is the perfect switch from the pro staff. It’s definitely more user friendly but maintains most of what makes the pro staff so good.
Thanks so much for the reply. I think you guys have convinced me to give Percept a serious try. Keep up the good job, and is looking forward to all the future contents. Cheers.
I love vids like these - great to see the rackets in use. But I'm a bit confused on one point ... you say that the Percept 97 is the most spin friendly racket you've ever used but it just can't compare to a spin monster like the Vcore 95. Surely that means the Vcore 95 is the most spin friendly racket you've ever used?? (Sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult - just genuinely confused ... if only because I actually listened to what you had to say 😉) I haven't played for 15 years and just getting back into it - I'm on an old Ultimum RD Ti80 - high tension, thin gauge ... the racket literally "pings" on every hit 🤣🤣🤣🤣I love the spin but stability is lacking when it comes to doubles-games and volleying at the net... maybe I need a different racket for those games! I've considered lower tension but then I don't like the compromise in pin-point accuracy ... line shots are my guilty pleasure :) My challenge is that I have plenty of power. I'm a lazy player so I don't have a full back-swing - although do punch through the ball and smacking it back to base-line is no problem at all. I LOVE spin and if anything, I hit the ball out of the court. I'm using a semi-western grip just because a full-western ends up with frame-hits ... not even into the net ... they hit the concrete way before the net!!!! I'd really appreciate your thoughts as to which racket and string tension / gauge to go with. (Although, to be fair, I suspect that the problem isn't with the racket but with the player foot-work, body position, timing, etc., ...)
Thank you! As for the confusion, the Percept 97 is certainly not the most spin friendly racket I've ever used but it's impressively spin-friendly for a racket that is so controlled. The Vcore 95 is a true "spin racket" so despite the Percept having great spin, it's still less than the Vcore. I think you should try the Percept. Sounds like it will help you with control but still give you plenty of spin. As for strings, give something sharp and spin-friendly a shot (Hyper G 17 is a great string/gauge.)

It’s less spin friendly than both and more comfortable than the aero, but less comfortable than the extreme.
Great review! I switched from the Vcore 95 to the PA98 simply because of the slightly better consistency of the PA, as well as the crispness at net. The VC95 was *such* a fun racket to use though, insane on serve
I have the PA and thking going to vcore 95. The only problem i have is that PA doesnt swing my semi western with ease and i feel the v core will do
Totally agree with you, I understand why you chose the aero 98 but yes, the Vcore 95 is so much fun to use.
I’m so stuck between the pa98 and vcore 95 right now. I play an all court game, love the net, touch shots, and hitting a wide range of ground strokes
Hey was wondering if the shift 99 played more like a aero98/vcore98 or their 100's version ?
Much more like the 98s, the sweet spot is smaller than you’d expect.
Rainbow sweatband 😍😍🌈
should i buy one of these? i'm an intermediate player in my freshman year of hs
If you want a Yonex racket, go for any of their 100s as they are more geared to that level.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver ok. Thx 👍
I prefer the Ezone because it suits my style a bit better but if you want more precision, go for the Vcore.
Luca, lots of positive comments about both these sticks. Do you use them yourself then?
I’m still using the boom pro, but I really like the percept.
Lead Tape in only side of racket?
Yes this is a method I use sometimes for play tests because it’s easier to deal with.
Hey Luca, with so many pro players using Yonex rackets these days, do you have any idea what percentage of players are actually using the frame they endorse?
It’s tough to gauge but I’d say about 20%.
how these compared to ezone 98?
They are quite different; these are more precision based control rackets whereas the Ezone 98 is a true hybrid power/control/spin frame.
They are both fantastic frames!
Wow You kind made me gonna order the v core 95 and put some led to it and make it like wawrinkas rocket
@@Shankar-Bhaskar that’s the first one I bought. It’s a 2x4.
@@chuckfriebe843
What's a 2*4? I don't understand.
@@chuckfriebe843
If you are interested in selling it, let me know. I can't seem to find it anywhere in grip size 3 (4 3/8).
Understand?
Wish I could you use both of them but I need the forgiveness of my Ezone with the foot work I have
The ezone’s a great racket, you’re in good hands.
Percept 100d pls.
We can't bring it into Canada yet.
What about that lead 😮?
3 grams at 3/9 on each!
I currently play with the Vcore 95 but recently had wrist surgery. How would you compare these in terms of comfort?
It's a good question. The Vcore is quite muted so it is it pretty comfortable. The Percept feels a little more jarring (sometimes) so I would give the edge to the Vcore, but just barely.
I love this channel! Just subscribed! So high quality production and really well thought out points.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed!
Aww im excited yes...and Now i press play🎉😂
Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for the support
Thanks for reply man. 👍🏻
(Sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult - just genuinely confused ... if only because I actually listened to what you had to say 😉)
I haven't played for 15 years and just getting back into it - I'm on an old Ultimum RD Ti80 - high tension, thin gauge ... the racket literally "pings" on every hit 🤣🤣🤣🤣I love the spin but stability is lacking when it comes to doubles-games and volleying at the net... maybe I need a different racket for those games! I've considered lower tension but then I don't like the compromise in pin-point accuracy ... line shots are my guilty pleasure :)
My challenge is that I have plenty of power.
Vcore95 V7 is so much difference with V6
By the way, i think you hit better with the 95
Interesting, I thought the opposite.
Excellent but please slow down your speaking pace.
weird lead tape placement
The Percept has the most hideous paint job in the history of tennis racquets.
