Here in 2024. And sadly no new Mario & Sonic game just weeks before the Olympics. But, I will say I do love all these guests. I hope they become regular in the future.
I kinda hoped they would do away with the guest characters and make them all playable in every event, I don't really see the point in limiting our options when all these characters are already in the game. Though I guess that's what the modding community is for.

Well, there's always mods, though I doubt anyone has made much progress with this game seeing how new it is, and there might not even be any way to play modded Switch games right now.
I would have been fine with Rosalina , Rouge, Diddy Kong and Espio being added permanently, seriously even just that would've been so much better than this... and even some of this guests are so stupid, like who the hell wanted the koopalings or Zazz/Zavok?, why is Wendy in Swimming but not Birdo??? Why the hell is Zazz in the game but not Cream, Wave, Charmy or Sticks?, Why the hell are Larry and Ludwig guests but not Toad, Dixie Kong or Pauline????
@@AlmondMilkLake Cream and Charmy already appear as referees (they have this role since nearly the beginning of Mario&Sonic series), imo they wouldn't make sense if they were playable. Also, Sticks was added in Rio 2016 just to promote the Sonic Boom series, that's why she wasn't added to this game nor she was added to Sonic games post-Boom (excluding Sonic Runners)
@Daquan Harrison yes it is really hard to deal with it. It is unacceptable. This is the 6th game in the series and we still haven’t added permanent new characters. It’s as if we were to play smash ultimate and only be able to play as the same characters from the very first smash game.
It is ridiculous that Sega has eliminated the Miis from this game, since many people underestimate them for being simple avatars, they deserve more prominence, they must also have more interaction and dialogues with all the characters of Mario and Sonic as if you really felt inside the game. Toadette is my precious and kawaii childhood video game girl! Just like for other Mario games on the Switch, I've gotten so happily surprised when she became a playable character. I wonder again if she's the one that have inspired me to have attraction towards other cute fictional girls such as Koishi Komeiji.
I’ve been reading the comments so a few things I will say: There is a new game coming out this year being made by Sega and Nintendo and not some random company inside these two so hopefully answer our requests and add Guest Characters to always play. Second new characters will probably have a low chance of occurring but Nabbid, Birdo, Sticks, and Wave will return hopefully Lastly, Boxing and Karate for Toad and Toadette and other shorties could be solved with stilts maybe

Okay, I can see why certain characters are on certain events. Like Zavok on boxing, Wendy on swimming, and so on. but why is Jet on football/soccer? You literally have skateboarding as an event, and hell, DREAM RACING is a literal version of Riders but no laps and it's a race to the goal. I don't get it.
Fun fact: In Vancouver 2010 he was a boss character in the Snowboard Cross event (Wii) or Halfpipe Deluxe event (DS) and in Sochi 2014, he was a boss character for Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom event
