It has always amused me that Lars has maintained a private friendship with Dave, in spite of the fact that Dave never hesitates to talk shit about Lars and Metallica anytime he can publicly.
Because Lars might have his quirks, but he's overall a class act and he's proved it time and time again, especially in this later part of his life, whereas Dave maintains his bitter approach and always throws stabs at Lars and Metallica in general.
Always thought my last words is one of the coolest most underrated songs of the band along with good mourning black friday, glad to see it get more recognition.
My favorite lately has been five magics. Its such a weirdly constructed song but the riffs are so sick and the lyrics are super cool. Marty solo is also fucking fire
I'm really impressed by this story; did not even thought such complex things can be played 'right now', without any minimal preparations and trainings (I don't mind bluesmen, they always can play anything any time :-))
You always wonder if Megadeth didn't happen would they even be talking to Dave today or even being charitable. It's just with so much of Kill em All being Mustaine riffs, he had the fire and the ideas that launched early thrash to the next level and he was able to make it on his own with or without them. So even after they ditched him, they were forced to acknowledge him as pretty much equal (or even superior) else I don't think they would have been giving him much time of day in the years afterward.
Apparently James and Lars are not keen on Eye of the Beholder...if that performance at the end wasn't already proof! I think that was another Rob suggestion he looked happy 😄
3:43, oh shit, we got it? (i'm aussie) that's sick, i swear the amount of videos we pop up in never ceases to amaze me. Yeah, bands used to be really good to us, now we're lucky to get visited twice in a decade.
Holy crap! I was at that show! 🤯 Despite being a Megadeth fan since 1993, that 2005 show in Sydney was the first time I ever saw Megadeth live (long story). Now that I think about it, I vaguely remember Dave saying something about not having played it live in over a decade (though I might just be having a Mandella Effect moment). But I was definitely at that show all the same.
Yeah I was at that show. It was the most amazing setlist. Unfortunately the sound mix was way too loud for that room and everything was extremely distorted. The other awesome thing about that show was that the support act was Mortal Sin, another favourite of mine since the 90's. So two legendary bands on one night. Still remember it well. Highlight for me was "My Darkest Hour"
My Last Words will always be my favorite Megadeth song, and it has Dave's greatest solo at the end, its so good some people didn't believe it was him. I think the Lars influence goes back further than Risk, its very clear after Rust in Peace, Dave heard from Lars literally and musically in the form of the Black album, and so we got the more hard rock of Countdown to Extinction, barring Ashes in your Mouth. I wish that album were more of a continuation of Rust, but its still great in its own right.
I was at that show when megadeth played 'my last words' at the cow palace in Daly city San Francisco when Lars was backstage and Dave mentioned it. The lyrics was a bit slurred but guitar playing technically Dave was on fire 🔥 🤘🤘🤘
That bassline that repeats constantly reminds me of a The Trooper but reversed, where the guitars play the same riff (although a much more complex one for sure) and the bassline dictates the "feel" of the song
Awesome video thats one of my favorite megadeth songs of all time, definitely a deep cut. Thanks for making a video about this because I had no idea lars mentioned he had a favorite megadeth song, nonetheless go to one of their concerts lol. Very in depth and awesome video keep doing what youre doing!🤘
Man, I really love Peace sells and Rust in Peace and oall their songs, but rarely my favourite MEGADETH song is Trus (spanish version) Gracias por tanto amigo Dave, nice video friend.
I actually have a recorded cassette tape from the mid 80's of Megadeth in the studio playing half a dozen entire songs from Ride the Lightning. I swear to God. Does anyone else have a copy of this? It's in a box somewhere as i haven't had a cassette player in about 20 years. It circulated around my friends in high school but I don't know where it originated from.
My dad met lars once at a Megadeth Motorhead show in a bar. Said lars was vrry enthusiastically enjoying Megadeth and kinda panicked when my dad recognized him. He also said the backline was massively overkill for the venue, loudest show he went to in his life.
@AndriyVasylenko this would have been around the time master of puppets was new, so the beef between bands was still very raw. Probably didn't want to be seen at a Megadeth show at the time. That's why he was seeing them in rural Oregon near the Oregon institute of technology, not a show in San Francisco or LA lol. It was a show in a very rural God fearing kind of area.
You are right Dave is a Hell of a Song Writer. Megadeth has 17 Albums vs Metallica's 11 albums. Let's be honest Megadeth albums are just better than Metallica. Metallica lost its Juice after And Justice For All. Megadeth still puts out Great Albums.
It's great things have come full circle. Both bands defined an era of metal that can be described as golden. Now they're older, and seemingly a wee bit wiser.
I was at this show; funny note I was actually late and missed all of the rust in peace set. this was August 2010 in San Francisco cow palace. Slayer headlined
It's really remarkable how Andriy always comes through with a new video when I feel lowest about myself and need a welcomed distraction and pick me up to get through the rest of my day. Especially during the last half year these videos have become invaluable to me, a shitty little bass player from a littel local punk band. Thank you so much friend \m/ ❤
I absolutley love My Last Words, it was my most played Megadeth song last year, and it has one of the best Megadeth solo's of all time, definitely Dave's best anyways, but the rest of the song is awesome too! I'd even say it's an underrated Kareoke song
I've been a Metallica / Megadeth fan since I was in 5th or 6th grade. At this point I feel like this is a soap opera thats been going on my whole life 😂 I don't want it to go away!
Was in 8th grade wen this came out, fav band at time... Song bout Russian roulette, fuqn shreds on all levels... Hav the dean signature mustain killing is ma business V... 🤘....once again I gamble for ma very life today.
Without being fired, there would be no MEGADETH. DAVE jr. was at the right place. It was perfect timing when he got fired. The name came up on the bus ride home.
If Megadeth responded to the success of the Black Album by releasing another thrash album in 1992 instead of going radio friendly with Countdown, I think Dave would have "won" whatever contest he was trying to win. If you are going to listen to a thrash album from 1992 your so much better off with Demolition Hammer, Anacrusis, Slaughter, Coronor or Gwar. Dont even get me started on 1991 lol. I dont think popularity and record sales has anything to do with the quality of a metal release, often it's the opposite, and I'm sure Dave and Lars fall asleep crying in their gold jacuzzis just thinking about the respect they both lost from serious metal fans like myself.
Yeah. Exceept for "Prince of Darkness", Risk isnt all that hot. Niether is "Cryptic Writings" But, Dave, you're mental anyways. Washington is next is pretty cool. Even though its not that long, "Blessed are the Dead" got an awesome melody. Love it. Especially the line "Wash me in blood and let me be the first born of the dead". Way fuckin awsome!!!
Hello my friend, not sure I can email you directly but I am a unique Metallica/Megadeth/Death fan who could add an interesting Down Under perspective to your channel. I write Electro/Rock so I can add a unique insight to your channel if you are interested, Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, Steve Digiordio and Dave Ellefson are my gods.
It has always amused me that Lars has maintained a private friendship with Dave, in spite of the fact that Dave never hesitates to talk shit about Lars and Metallica anytime he can publicly.
I mean Lars is kind of an ass and Dave speaks his mind so
Because Lars might have his quirks, but he's overall a class act and he's proved it time and time again, especially in this later part of his life, whereas Dave maintains his bitter approach and always throws stabs at Lars and Metallica in general.
@@jeromewiater5109And Dave isn’t?
Also, as noticed by a friend of mine, Mustaine brings the Metallica thing up whenever Megadeth new album is coming.
@@AndriyVasylenko This is something Lars has also Pointed out in a Written interview around Mid-2000s.
I bought Peace Sells when it first came out (yeah I'm pretty old), and My Last Words was my favorite song on the album.
Me too. I wore that vinyl out.
You did a lot of work getting all the clips and editing this all together. Great video! Thanks
Great video, Andriy. Fun fact: In a guitar magazine, Mick Thomson of Slipknot named "My Last Words" as one of his favorite songs.
Thanks! Wow, that’s another proof the song is really amazing
Always thought my last words is one of the coolest most underrated songs of the band along with good mourning black friday, glad to see it get more recognition.
I agree a bit like rattlehead, they've got a bit of the same vibe about them too 🤘
My favorite lately has been five magics. Its such a weirdly constructed song but the riffs are so sick and the lyrics are super cool. Marty solo is also fucking fire
Marty has a handful of smaller solos on magic's but the big last solo is Dave
Also anyone reading this my god please stay away from that remaster
@RonnieP138 yeah the closing Dave solo is really sick too. Love Marty's fills in the verses
Hands down my fav Mega track
I mean, Robert did that to them with dyers eve and frayed ends
His persistence paid off!
@@AndriyVasylenko im glad, frayed ends is my favorite song from AJFO. I wish they played it more often and for Lars to nail that specific part
Fans voted for Frayed Ends
Where's the behs.
My Last Words was my favorite track, by far. That Mustaine solo at the end melted my face off as a 14 year old metal head
It is incredibly underrated!
Big 4 shows need to happen again. They should do surprise order every time like how they did for Clash of the Titans back in the day though
If only Jeff was still with us

Apparently James and Lars are not keen on Eye of the Beholder...if that performance at the end wasn't already proof! I think that was another Rob suggestion he looked happy 😄
James and Lars seem like the kind of people to intentionally fuck up a song so they can excuse themselves from playing it again.
@@Pee-PadThey pretty much did exactly this in Seattle ‘89 with Frayed Ends of Sanity

Yeah, Dave openly admits in the memoir that he was chasing the success of the Black album throughout the 90s.

Early James on garage riff tapes sounds just like Dave . There's zero chance in hell mustaine was playing RTL Metallica songs with Megadeth
love you videos!
I really appreciate it!
thanks for the deep dive on this metal side quest!
Loved it bro thanks
Imagine Metallica telling him he doesn't take chances with his music...If that's what they call 72 Seasons, then good move Dave.

Peace Sells IS an incredible album!!!
Love the lyrics in My Last Words, especially.
"Taste the numbing, cold-blue; or red of Hades grill."
New respect for this song. Extremely awesome video. You earned my like and subscribe, brother.
EXCELLENT video for an EXCELLENT song! Nicely done 👊🤘🏼
I don't think you guys understand how amazing of a songwriter Dave mustaine is, he is clearly iconic in the metal world.

My last words is definitely the most interesting song on that whole album
3:22 I went to that tour but saw them in a small club in SF and not in Berkeley.

Definitely my favorite tune off Peace Sells
And Dave should do a new version of jump in the fire on the new album
That song gets me pumped, favorite megadeth song,, possibly
I think Metallica and Megadeth both enjoys talking shit about each other.
I think Metallica has been over Dave's drama for 30 something years now. Just an assumption.
Probably my favourite Megadeth song too. That ending, I love it.
It’s all about the Ear Of The Beholder ;)
These guys always listen to any band within that genre, especially one's closely aligned to them.
Lars does have good taste in metal songs at least.
FINALLY MY LAST WORDS VIDEO
The Frayed Ends of Sanity or The Shortest Straw would be the equivalent to My Last Words.
Lars definitely has great taste for Megadeth songs!
Dave alone eats metallica alive on "my last words"
1:06 still made some absolute BANGERS
Love that thumbnail pic of Liars
Probably the best song on peace sells!
A good song but Wake up Dead is better.
It's my second favourite after the conjuring
@@deletedhero5579 LOL Many awesome songs on the record!
@ Its also great. But last words, is a different and complex song that stands out to me. Music is very subjective, of course
I guess the whole mustaine Metallica politics will just never go away , I'm only into there music personally ,but every one to there own
" mm my ass so tight " wtf lmfao
K is my business album was so risky and so unique and hard core. Dave should have continued with that direction. It's a style of music all on its own.
ONE BADASS JAM!!!
My Last Words is definitely one of the best Megadeth Songs. It even has Daves best guitar solo, in my opinion.
Dave should redo my last words on new album
Lars: "Dang, their drummer can actually keep steady beat!"
I can't even pick a favorite song off the peace sells album.
That thumbnail of Lars looks like Gene Belcher in his Beefsquatch mask😂

My favorite Megadeth song is My last Words
I would love for Metallica to cover "My Last Words!" Might even earn a quip from Dave about there they go stealing his songs again!
There's is a video of Lars playing the intro of Peace Sells with Jason.
More likely that Mustaine would have showed up and asked them to play Trapped Under Ice
Megadeth Rules!
Shout out to my old "single" casette of Eye of the Beholder/Breadfan. May it Rust in Peace...😉
"Do the dude" 💀💀💀💀
I wore out 2 cassettes of peace sells before 1990
My favorite Dave solo. You said it was his second best. Which do you think is better? Perhaps 5 Magics?
Lars is a coward in his shitty ways, pretending to not know its called Peace Sells. LMFAO what a tool.
Dave should have asked Lars to play Dyers Eve.
Yes, Megadess.
🤘🤘🤘
That pic of Lars in the Thumbnail os hilarious. He looks like Jack Nicholas inThe Shining. 😂😂😂
Ларс талантливый драммер ,художник из бизнесмен ❤
my fave dave mustaines solo will always be the mechanix then my last words
It took me forever to learn that song on guitar… the intro was easy for me. But the sheer speed on the rest… 🤷🏼♀️
Risk is a great record.
Super overhated
Dave? Is that you? Just kidding. I love Prince of Darkness, and The Doctor is Calling. Risk is much better than most remember.
Without being fired, there would be no MEGADETH. DAVE jr. was at the right place. It was perfect timing when he got fired. The name came up on the bus ride home.
Or maybe if Dave Mustaine asked for Shortest Straw perhaps.
Or worse - Frayed Ends Of Sanity...
