I ordered the non-smart version of this monitor and it should arrive tomorrow. Im extremely exited to test it. For me, the only choices I considered where the OLED G9 or the NEO G9 because i had the Samsung 49" 32:9 1080p QLED Gaming monitor for 4 years now and i cant imagine playing on a non 32:9 monitor.
Yo man have you thought about doing playthroughs of games from start to finish? Would be awesome to see your reactions and the type of games you are into.
I like the idea of ultrawide monitors but for everyday use a potential eye strain, I want Samsung to keep producing a new version UltraView. Games hmm Halo 2 - Horizon - or even VR
I URGENTLY!!!! advice you to change that Monitor Arm that you are using on that video. There is a plastic union section inside the head turn gear that moves the monitor UP, DOWN… That plastic union breaks in time. Mine lasted a year an a half. Once it broke my monitor (Samsung Neo G9) fell on to my desk facing down. It dented my Razerblade and also my iPad Pro screen since it fell on top of them. I replaced the Arm with a different brand thats much more sturdy: “ERGOTRON HX Desk Monitor Arm” that one has no plastic cheap parts. Is more expensive but its a better quality. Do it before you scratch that OLED monitor.
Hopefully soon they'll have Micro LED panels, so small that they can also be used for each pixel. That would be ideal, bright, perfect contrast and no burn in! Whoever gets there first will have a lot of buyers!
If there is a solution to use the monitor for games that do not support super wide as windowed borderless to stay on the middle of the screen and use the sides as "secondary monitors" would be insane. I think that would improve the sales a lot. I would buy one right now and get rid of both of my monitors.
You shoulda waited or maybe researched a bit more when it comes to upcoming monitors, you mentioned in the vid that you wanted a 1000R curve super ultra wide which was like 2x 4k monitors side by side, which Samsung are actually releasing the end of this month or next month, the Samsung odyssey G9 57”. It’s not oled but it’s bigger and has a matte finishing.
Really enjoying my G9 OLED so far. I agree with pretty much everything you said. I'm planning on using it for 99% gaming but the OLED burn in does worry me a little bit and I'm surprised you didnt touch on that. Great video though
I hear you on the OLED burn in :) but it's something that everyone who buys anything with an OLED panel should be aware of. I've personally never experienced it before and trust me I've used all kinds of OLED displays over the last 4-5 years now.
@techman8336 i upgraded from a 1440p 100hz 34 inch IPS monitor from 2016 to the OLED G9. The difference was nice to me. I dont know how much of a difference there is from the neo g9 to the oled g9 since I didnt own the NEO but if you were to ask me it wouldnt be worth spending $2200 if I had to guess all things considered. Youve got the same resolution and size. Only thing is the panel and dimming zones change really. I'd hold off personally.
RTX 4090 doesn't support 240hz using it's DP1.4 port (only 120hz IIRC). I think the HDMI 2.1 does but it can introduce artifacts at that high of a resolution. The AMD counterpart of the 4090 does support DP 2.1. I imagine the 50 series rtx cards will finally support that version which would be ideal for this monitor.
What desk and monitor stand/riser are you using here? I really like how it's an adjustable desk, been looking at the adjustable options and trying to look for something that matches well with the OLEDs silver frame. I love how it looks!
I bet Samsung has the tech already, to release the OLED G9 with a 1000R Curve, but they're holding it back, so they have something new to release next year lol. Either way, I wonder how often this happens in corporate decisions.
great review! at 13:53 you mentioned that documents/text dont look good due to the low resolution. Does it look any worse than say, a normal 16:9 1440p monitor (seeing as the PPI is the same?)
It's not so much the PPI that's the issue. It has more to do with the pixel layout on many oled monitors that produce a fringe or ghosting around the text. Some people don't mind it. For others it's unbearable. I use an oled for gaming and an IPS for work and web browsing.
It will be nice to compare OLEDs of equivalent size so viewers get an expectation of key differences. Otherwise the comments in each OLED review for ultrawides all sound the same. Given you showcased the LG UltraGear 45" OLED as well, how does that fare against this G9 OLED?
That’s what I would love as well! That’s my biggest problem right now is deciding on what monitor. I have used in the past 3 years: OG Samsung g9, C2 42” OLED, 65” S95B QD OLED, 27” LG OLED, and now just received the Samsung G9 QD OLED just a few days ago. I’m trying to test and see what monitor I prefer before I pass the return window for this one haha I love the picture, it’s amazing, but coming back to the 32:9 aspect ratio is kinda scaring me. I feel like I don’t have enough vertical view but I didn’t feel that way with the OG G9 I had. So maybe I have to get used to it again. But I really am wondering if the 45” LG Ultrawide OLED is the perfect size. It’s just the matte coating and the lower resolution that I would hate to switch to haha idk I even tried using my 65” S95B in 21:9 mode to see if I liked it better than the G9 but I couldn’t decide. Even stood in the same spot and took pictures of each display looking at the same things on screen and I can’t make up my mind which I like better. I think I would need an HDMI splitter or something to get them displaying at the same time but even then idk how they would each have different resolutions/aspect ratios. The 65” S95B is free since I have already paid for it haha opposed to the $2,200 for the G9🤷♂️🤦♂️ Sorry, had to rant for a bit haha
@@jamesadkinsiii7925 I'm in a similar spot. Using a Neo G9 and wanting to upgrade to an OLED panel. I searched the internet and watched every YT video looking for someone that does comparisons as opposed to sounding the same - simply selling every new monitor that is released. Initially I also considered OLED TVs like the C2 and also the Gigabyte Aorus 48" because I considered the benefit of 4K resolution. But at the end of the day decided against, because I want a curved ultrawide (and can always get a normal OLED TV for the living room). Now I'm deliberating between the LG UltraGear 45" OLED and this Samsung G9 OLED. I agree with you (and also me coming from the Neo) that the LG is a nice 'sweet spot' for dimensions and has true immersion with an 800R curve. Some users complain about the lower res and PPI, but I saw the LG in a store and could not spot the text difference. It was interesting because at home, the Neo look okay, but the store had them side by side so I could see the Neo G9 is long but short/thin, but the LG was immersive 'big'. Still, I waited for the G9 OLED and I like the glossy finish for OLED and the fact that I would not lose overall screen size (49" to 45"), but that 1800R curve really sucks. To me, the G9 OLED lacks a true identity. Why give a 32:9 OLED 'gaming' monitor a 1800R curve? You need curvature for true immersion not simply width. Just watch some POV YT videos that show the LG 45" playing Cyberpunk 2077. The 800R curve allows you to see the corner HUD elements easily whereas with this G9 OLED, they will be far to each corner with just a 1800R curve (you will need to move your head and attention away from the center of the screen). If this is intended to be a 'productivity' monitor, then why make it OLED (all reviews make it a point to state the problem with OLEDs is burn in risks from static elements in productivity). Honestly, I am still undecided. The fact that other MSI, ASUS 49" OLEDs are coming out doesn't make a difference because they too are 1800R and may not even be glossy. To me, if the LG 45" is say 49" with the same vertical height, slightly higher resolution, say 4000 (or 5210) /1600 ish and has a glossy finish, I'll snap it up easy. Sorry for the even longer rant haha.
@@inconvenientfacts58everything you mention is spot on for me. I’m currently in the same boat trying to decide LG 45 or this G9. I’m not seeing the overwhelming amount of reviews for the LG 45 which is somewhat concerning. My hesitation is 💯 with 1800R.
Great review, very clear and concise, since they just dropped the price $500 on these I have ordered one and it should arrive next week. Will use it for Starfield and MS Flight sim, plus driving. One question, I know it is a 49 inch display but how much physical space does it take on the desk? ie what are the dimension straight across the middle, trying to figure out if I need a bigger desk or not.
Definitely a sick and cool monitor, too bad a lot of games I like playing don't support this resolution or either there is clipping where you can't see top/bottom portions of your screen.
Thanks for the great review. I have this on order for gaming so this was really useful. I’d like to play it with Microsoft Flight simulator as the wrap around should look awesome on this display.
Nice monitor but vertical height is lot better on 45" 21:9 plus 800R which is superb. This 49" looks so small vertical height and seems a lot smaller than its says 49", think that upcoming 57" oled would be a lot better vertical.
To me this G9 OLED is starting to feel like the Odyssey G9 and G9 Neo. They release a half baked OLED 49" then a year later release the 1000R version. Every 'review' says the same thing about every newly released OLED monitor. With no comparisons how can one state a monitor is the "best"?
Hello bro i want to ask something : I have laptop Dell Vastro 15 , 3568 Its screen is getting red from the edges and corner , i am soo confused and sad please help me how to solve it 🥺 Please hope help me bro
I had the non oled version , the oled version i think has better color reproduction, I was to excited buying the G9 version, should wait for the Oled Version
Thank you for the review. Definitely buying one. I currently have triple monitors but I’m kinda tired of wire management and want something more simplistic. By the way, where did you get the desk?
Same here. I am really bored of my 3 monitor setup for office work. So i thought it might be a good idea to switch to G9, but you guys dont suggest it for office work?
I just bought a G9 today to replace my 3 office monitors. I've heard good and bad about using a g9 for work. Burn-in would be a real issue with work applications@@kingofss11
What arm are you using to hold it and are there any wall mounts availabe? I'm looking into buying the secret lab magnus desk but all arms i have seen have to drill through the desk. Great Review!
I've got this desk arm - amzn.to/3PVW4RB. I'm also getting a Secret Lab desk soon which I'll definitely be mounting an arm onto. Stay tuned for a video on that if interested :)
actually ill use ti primary for studying and gaming , ill just split the screen into two and put my Mac and pc as 2 inputs and thus I get 2 27inch sizes and when im going to play just one pc input I just got it today and won't be using it until two days from now cause I dont have the right plug and ordered from amazon a correct plug type for it
@@midasgamespace thank you But if I don’t do the 2 thing setup will it be easy to study for hours ? Like if I just use my pc not my mac and study using the monitor ( I usually study through RUclips videos but mostly at this time google docs and word/PowerPoint) The only reason I was thinking of plugging two things (Mac and pc) for studying is to eliminate black bars and use one of them for studying the other will be just used as a background nothing more (thus I elimated also the curve which can be distracting for studying but really immersive for gaming) I have not tried out the monitor yet I have it but I’m still waiting for my pc to finish its repair and waiting for Amazon adapter since I imported it from the US and in my country we use different adapters than the US (we use UK adapters plug type)
@@midasgamespaceI’m interested in your input on this and thank you for taking the time to read my comment even though I made it long 😂 sorry just had to describe the situation
If you use it as a PC Gaming Monitor i don't see any reason to by the smart one, especially because of the price difference. The smart features where a deal breaker for me, until I stumbled across the non-smart one.
Question? What is the fps look like on your 4090 with the G9? I got the 4080 and I was wondering if fps will stay above, constant, or drop at the 240hz refresh rate. I play different genres like shooters, action, rpgs, and fighting games so I was wondering how it will perform?
I had the OLED g9 but returned it a few weeks after I got it, I was using a 4090 with a ryzen 5900x and if I remember right I was getting around 140fps on the MW2 benchmark with maxed out everything. With DLSS quality I was getting around 175fps.
@@Omi-7k it’s an amazing monitor. It just didn’t look as good as my QD OLED S95B. So I returned it and sold my 65” S95B and got the 55” S95C and mounted it to the wall behind my desk and that is what I use now. Haha it just looked so good and besides madden and call of duty with my buddies I mainly play story games so graphics was #1 for me. I play with maxed out settings at 4K with 144fps and I didn’t feel like 144fps was that much different than what I was getting without DLSS on the G9. Also I just like the extra height of the display. I used to game on the OG g9 a few years back when it released and then my cat broke it. Ever since then I’ve used different versions of 16:9 monitors/tvs and I went back to the g9 when it incorporated OLED but it didn’t look as good for some reason as their tv panels. Even though the g9 is using the gen 2 QD OLED panel I believe. Idk why the peak brightness and stuff is so different. But I had them side by side and it was clearly a better image on the TVs. If you don’t have them side by side you would never notice or care haha so it’s a great monitor if you’re after that aspect ratio.
@@jamesadkinsiii7925 thanks for the detailed recap. I currently have an LG C3 42 contemplating returning it for the new 49 S95C. 4090 w/ a 7800x3d running it. I’m also an owner of the OG G9 which has shifted to work purposes only (dual monitor use). It’s interesting to get your perspective on the brightness comparison. 55 is just to much for me as a gaming monitor and the cost is a bit more than i want to spend. Decisions…. Decisions
@@Omi-7k yeah it really does suck they don’t make the s95c in a 42-48 inch size. But if you can mount it on the wall and pull your desk out a bit and are not a competitive gamer than I would highly recommend it. I still game “competitively” when I play madden and cod and still do quite well. But I’m sure I could do better if I was using a 27” haha
from watching other videos on the same monitor, apparently, if you switch from the display port to the (i think it was hdmi port) the resolution issue with the text and everything is fine.
5k is a lie, it is still just 1440p. The vertical pixel count would have to be 2880 to be true 5k. In all actuality this does not even have the ppi of a 4k monitor.
I've seen your previous video with the LG 45 OLED I would love to see if you could do a comparison between the Samsung G9 49 OLED and the LG 45 OLED. Which do you think overall is better for gaming
I'm considering doing a comparison video but essentially if you like a glossy OLED screen over one with some coating on it, the G9 is the better pick. If you want a cheaper alternative with a sharper curve, then the LG 45" is the better choice. I find that they're both really solid overall.
@@midasgamespacedo you think that the aspect ratio on the LG 45' is better then the Samsung's g9? LG has lower resolution but the extra vertical space seems more immersive. Can't decide what to buy
I was.gonna get this for my ps5 and my series x but not now. Helped me make my decision since neither will run it at 240hz nor do eirher of them havr rhe 32:9 ratio.
For PC games that don't support 32:9, is it possible to run them in 16:9 while having other applications open on the left and right side? Like where the black bars would be?
How is the scaling while playing games on a Playstation? Are the games stretched? I use a 21:9 HUAWEI MateView GT 34-inch Sound Edition for PC games and a curved 2K 32inch for the Playstation 5. Any suggestions?
Can you connect bluetooth speakers to this monitor and play all audio through the speakers? For example if I have a ps5 plugged into the HDMI and connect this monitor to bluetooth speakers, will the PS5 sound come through the speakers?
I was interested with this monitor until yesterday when I came across someone inthe comment section from a different video (also on OLED gaming monitor) saying that he or she owns this monitor, but they warn anybody reading their that it is probably not a good idea to do long hours of gaming on an OLED. They said it's due to the HUD in gaming staying in one place for too long which will raise the risk of a burn in with an OLED monitor. So I can't neither prove nor disprove that statement but a burn in is definitely a worry of mine considering I don't upgrade my monitor often (I'm currently still using a monitor I bought from I believe back in 2014). So yeah, I'm writing this I was wondering if anybody with more experience gaming on an OLED monitor (hopefully from somebody who had already spent lots of long hours playing games on an OLED monitor).
what resoulution are you using ?! you have to coinnect it usung display port and go to setting check your display resolution i think you didn't maxmize it . that's. the reason it's not sharp

Nice monitor but vertical height is lot better on 45" 21:9 plus 800R which is superb. This 49" looks so small vertical height and seems a lot smaller than its says 49", think that upcoming 57" oled would be a lot better vertical.
The 57” version is not OLED sadly
@@powerhouse884 the upcoming version not OLED? Are u sure?
@@iDexy88 Yes, is the same Neo G9 not the OLED G9
To me this G9 OLED is starting to feel like the Odyssey G9 and G9 Neo. They release a half baked OLED 49" then a year later release the 1000R version. Every 'review' says the same thing about every newly released OLED monitor. With no comparisons how can one state a monitor is the "best"?
I peronally like the vertical hight. taller monitors are too big for me.
Nice video bro. Quick question where did you get the desk from?
Hello bro i want to ask something :
I have laptop Dell Vastro 15 , 3568
Its screen is getting red from the edges and corner , i am soo confused and sad please help me how to solve it 🥺
Please hope help me bro
there are two versions of the oled LS49CG932SNXZA and the LS49CG954SNXZA.
the LS49CG954SNXZA comes with a remote and a built in software.
correction - 1st superultrawide oled 240hz 49”, but not 1st superultrawide 240hz 49” per previous samsung models.
what would you recommend for hi res and productivity re ultra wide monitors
Burn-in would be a real issue with work applications@@kingofss11
i bought my 4080 for pier performance, so I feel this 5k resolution would eat it up real quick!!
You would think a 108 ppi would be decent for enough clarity. That observation. Is counter to quite a few that I have heard
What speakers are those on your desktop? Do you like them? Looking for small format speakers similar to those
What arm are you using to hold it and are there any wall mounts availabe? I'm looking into buying the secret lab magnus desk but all arms i have seen have to drill through the desk. Great Review!
I've got this desk arm - amzn.to/3PVW4RB. I'm also getting a Secret Lab desk soon which I'll definitely be mounting an arm onto. Stay tuned for a video on that if interested :)
@@midasgamespace fantastic yeah i literally have it in my kart just dont want to pull the trigger because of the arm
Came to the comments section to ask about the arm. Thanks a lot :D
great review
Too bad not double ports. But down the road I might get this for pbp
Yo fam, whats speakers/ keyboard/ mouse do you have? They look dope af!
What monitor arm are you using? Im gonna get this with the tripple paycheck month in September 🤓
actually ill use ti primary for studying and gaming , ill just split the screen into two and put my Mac and pc as 2 inputs and thus I get 2 27inch sizes
and when im going to play just one pc input
I just got it today and won't be using it until two days from now cause I dont have the right plug and ordered from amazon a correct plug type for it
I'm sure you'll love it for your use case! :)
@@midasgamespace thank you
But if I don’t do the 2 thing setup will it be easy to study for hours ?
Like if I just use my pc not my mac and study using the monitor ( I usually study through RUclips videos but mostly at this time google docs and word/PowerPoint)
The only reason I was thinking of plugging two things (Mac and pc) for studying is to eliminate black bars and use one of them for studying the other will be just used as a background nothing more (thus I elimated also the curve which can be distracting for studying but really immersive for gaming)
I have not tried out the monitor yet I have it but I’m still waiting for my pc to finish its repair and waiting for Amazon adapter since I imported it from the US and in my country we use different adapters than the US (we use UK adapters plug type)
@@midasgamespaceI’m interested in your input on this and thank you for taking the time to read my comment even though I made it long 😂 sorry just had to describe the situation
So, what monitor would you recommend for a MAC?
Love the set up bro , please tell me where you get the plant from need two for my apartment
Thanks man! I bought the big guy from a website called Artiplanto :)
woah where can i find that beautiful wallpaper O_O?
I don't know if I should buy the smart version or not. what do you think?
If you use it as a PC Gaming Monitor i don't see any reason to by the smart one, especially because of the price difference. The smart features where a deal breaker for me, until I stumbled across the non-smart one.
Nice, but I’m waiting on the 57 incher coming out sept. 2023.
That stretch on the PS5 output would sure bother me 😆
cool cool. I also play games, but I have not seen this I will definitely try to play ❤
I really like your Pac T-shirt.
@@jamesadkinsiii7925 why did you return it?
Between this and lg 45 ultragear oled, which you think is better? Thanks
I’m still undecided but this one would have been my top choice if it had a sharper curve like the LG 45” does
Hi Midas, how deep is your desk and how far do you sit away from the monitor?
This would be perfect in a sim rig
Amazing review
First 😍😘😘
Love from india
Very helpful, thank you.
ultrawide is amazingg
5k is a lie, it is still just 1440p. The vertical pixel count would have to be 2880 to be true 5k. In all actuality this does not even have the ppi of a 4k monitor.
It’s just a dual screen of 1440p 😝
Yo, didn't touch on how useful pbp is and productivity is much better if your window programs and treat the monitor as dual 1440p monitors
Great video! Curious as to what Game Picture Mode you use? Mine came with "Eco" as the default, but I am not sure which one to use.
(sic) setup man!
Just need ALIENWEAR to come out with 240hz oled 34in ultrawide and ill buy!
Which cable do you recommend to connect it to the computer? WITH rtx 4090 ndivia
G-Sync works fine!
@@midasgamespace thank you! I actually have the LG 45 and wasn't sure if I should switch to the G9
@@midasgamespacedo you think that the aspect ratio on the LG 45' is better then the Samsung's g9? LG has lower resolution but the extra vertical space seems more immersive. Can't decide what to buy
Is this monitor ok for a streamer running 2 pc's?
I was.gonna get this for my ps5 and my series x but not now. Helped me make my decision since neither will run it at 240hz nor do eirher of them havr rhe 32:9 ratio.
Midas, what are the options under screen ratio/size? Would I be able directly through the monitor to set it up as 21:9 aspect ratio? Thank you.
whats the pixel density? what do you think of this vs the LG 45 inch oled?
both sucks currently there's no oled with high pixel density
How compatible is it with the PS5?
Do you have to buy the remote separately because mines didn't come with a remote
For PC games that don't support 32:9, is it possible to run them in 16:9 while having other applications open on the left and right side? Like where the black bars would be?
Yes, if you play the game in Windowed mode, that's possible.
If monitor can come with eARC audio will be perfect
How do you turn on 240Hz? I do not have Game Mode on. Since I not a game consoles. Just PC
How is the scaling while playing games on a Playstation? Are the games stretched? I use a 21:9 HUAWEI MateView GT 34-inch Sound Edition for PC games and a curved 2K 32inch for the Playstation 5. Any suggestions?
What monitor would be best for mac and ps5 cause I was looking at this monitor and you said it ain't the best option for either lol
Best Buy had a sale $1088 with a free 2tb SSD. I'm having trouble with the white not as bright as my older 49" Odessey .
Can you connect bluetooth speakers to this monitor and play all audio through the speakers? For example if I have a ps5 plugged into the HDMI and connect this monitor to bluetooth speakers, will the PS5 sound come through the speakers?
So there is no way running this on an ally Rog with a RTX 3080 EGPU right?
when you say "very low resolution" are you talking ppi or literally that it is 1440?
what camera are you using to record your videos ??
HI just wondering what is that desk? love the color and size, and with the small base in the middle. also the speakers name please?
actually the riser where ur controller is, where did you get that piece?
@@RichardPR19 looking for this as well! Please lmk if you find it
I was interested with this monitor until yesterday when I came across someone inthe comment section from a different video (also on OLED gaming monitor) saying that he or she owns this monitor, but they warn anybody reading their that it is probably not a good idea to do long hours of gaming on an OLED.
My G9 oiled didn’t include a white controller and when I contacted Samsung about they told me the controller is not included with the g9
what resoulution are you using ?! you have to coinnect it usung display port and go to setting check your display resolution i think you didn't maxmize it . that's. the reason it's not sharp
