You guys asked for it in the last video and made it extremely clear what you wanted to see, so naturally we had to make it happen! Adding the X Pipe to my V12 Toyota Century Exhaust made this thing sound 5 times as good as before, and I can't wait to hear what you guys think and continue to make this car sound even better! The best part is this car sounds this good for only around $1,000, which makes this the affordable way to get the best sounds out of your Toyota Century!

I cannot sub to the chanel, it said page not found and manual look up shows nothing tho.
Edit: its working now !
@@The_Klean_Visionary search crickett hq, it comes up that way
Subscribed! I always learn good stuff watching him work.
Yeah I agree, the burnt tips don't fit the century. It's too classy, man. You got curtains in the backseat for crying out loud, lol. Personally think mirror finished tips is the best look, but brushed is still leaps better than the burnt tuner look. She sounds a lot angrier. Nice one bro!
Black or carbon tips imo would go great on it
I totally agree. The burnt tips don't go well with the car at all
*in stock form it’s too classy.
Did you fail to see what this car looks like?
It's like a man in a 3 piece tailored suit with a snapback. Just seems out of place
Yeah those burnt tips are absolutely hideous 😅
Should be just some clean chrome tips flush with the lower bumper, definitely not burnt tips sticking out a whole foot 😬🤢
So from my research, to get rid of that raspiness you need equal length headers. If you want a higher pitched tone you need to use a thinner walled tubing for the exhaust. A lot of people think material determines pitch (titanium, stainless, etc) which they do ever so slightly change the pitch, but in reality the thickness of the tubing is way more important than material choice. Just some info if you want to redo it for more of a “supercar” sound.
Dude that makes so much sense! The chamber of the guitar isn't what makes the noise, its the size of the chord!
@@CrossWindsPat yup it’s all about resonance and pressures haha. The thinner the wall the higher the resonant frequency which tends to make the exhaust note a higher pitch. Equal length headers get rid of raspiness because the pressure waves all get to the collector in order which also improves scavenging. X pipes and H pipes also help improve flow. X pipes help with laying the pressure waves back to back in order between banks which can also improve the scavenging and helps the engine run super smooth and have a nice consistent exhaust note. An H pipe is kind of between the X pipe and having separate exhausts. They help it run slightly smoother but not really as good as an X pipe. H pipes tend to be good if you still want a bit of rasp to the exhaust but not a ton. Oh also beware of harmonics. They can change the sound of the exhaust note too which is where resonators come in to help. They can help clean up those unwanted frequencies. The physics behind exhausts are pretty interesting haha.
I would hope the content creator would read what you wrote. Spot on. It’s how they get a truck motor to sound like a corvette motor.
just resonators will clean up the sound 100%
@@murry001 Those and equal length headers would bring that sound up to show stopper territory
Additional stuff that can help later on as you go forward:
- Can't wait to see those vibrant resonators on the pipes.
- Equal length headers will fully let this car go crazy in terms of sound.
Otherwise, X-pipe be X-piping all over the place. 👍
Was thinking the same thing, equal length headers would really wake this engine up
I KNEW it needed the X pipe!!!!
We ALL did! 😂
scratchn my booty cheeks on the toilet
So did everyone
Some equal length headers would do the trick, it would absolutely scream
Every naturally aspirated, dual banked motor should have equal length headers and an X pipe. Its an affront to god otherwise.
Already is sounding better man! Still a little rasp but you made progress. I agree about the tips making them match the exhaust color, look a lot better.
X pipe helped alot. Doing equal lenght headers and some resonators will probably be perfect
Cricket killed it. But I feel like the X pipe needed to be closer to the down pipes/headers and if the diameter was like 2.5 or even smaller it would sound like a brilliant exhaust. Peace and love
THIS! 100%
Yep, I also wonder if he placed a H pipe instead of an X-pipe
Once you get some equal length headers the sounds is actually going to be insane.
He did a damn good job on the exhaust. Very clean and symmetrical. Job well done
Added a Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator to my VQ37 and it pulled A LOT of the rasp out and if it can pull the rasp out of a VQ it'll do well here highly recommend them. X-pipe was a good addition!
Grant, Sean and Cricket freaking out in the backseat had me dead. 😂
Equal length headers with a spherical firing order 6 into 1 collectors on each side will get you "that sound" you seek 😉. As for the placement of the x-pipe general rule of thumb is usually within 8 to 18 inches from the collectors.
to find its "true placement" ,take the car for a drive/dyno without it in place, and use a portable temp probe or one of those laser thermometers. What you are looking for is the hottest section of the pipe, where this hot spot is on your piping is where you place your x pipe for the maximum scavenging effect at full running temp. Hope this helps
Just subbed to Cricket's channel. Looking forward to his videos.
Now all the Century needs is some equal length headers with anti-reversion chambers.
There's no escaping the rasp. Currently looking into equal length headers.
RUclips recommended this video and I don't regret watching this. Great sound, the exhaust tips aren't the best but I like that it's different.
Sounds so much better! I wonder if a second x-pipe would make a difference. Also glad you brought some designs back, just put my order in!
second x pipe would make it sound deeper rather than that high-pitched supercar v12 sound
at the end, look at their expressions, like discovering a new toy as a child
so much fun 😁😁😁
Thank you guys so much for This!I need to get my ass editing pronto 😅
You guys are the best 🤘🏼🫶🏻🤘🏼🫶🏻🤘🏼
man you and cricket are a funny team. love to see you help him out with his video edits and uploads would be super cool
Great sound👍
Ferraris and Lamborghinis use equal length headers.
At TGS (Technical Garage Sasaki) in Japan, we manufacture headers with completely equal lengths. That's how you get the Ferrari sound.
if youve watched this an didnt sub to crickett, you need to go take your head for a wobble! thanks for bringing light to the channel mike. cant wait to see his uploads. one funny dude
for back purge make some truncated metal discs to go in the holes, then bind them on with some metal wire fast, easy no melting! and yes! metal tape wins almost every time because it's cheap, I think people are struggling with this V12 sounds, because they don't understand the science, short collector on equal headers, thin wall material, but even fire order engine, re-mapping the ecu, etc. etc. it's not just the pipes! Brave mission and i've loved watching every minute of it. I saw @maisteer go through this, i've worked on various v12's including Ferrari's - I blame Gordon Effspot for this lovely new trend. Cricket did a lovely job, his fab work is great, You are so close!! stay on it, you'll love it even more!
Peeps are probably gonna come at me for this but I definitely agree that it’s more refined, the century now reminds me of a stock countach or murcielago in the lower to mid rpms but equal length headers and thinner wall exhaust should definitely be on the list for exhaust change in the future!
1 hour later and crickets on 775 subs, cmon guys keep it up 👏 👏 👏
We got him to over 5k now he owes us some videos, the dude deserves thousands more Im always wanting more cricket 🎉❤
Just love his vibe haha
Dropped my first video yesterday 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@CrickettFab mad man much love from aus ❤️❤️
@@CrickettFab where have the vids gone bro was loving the content!!
Can say that the vibrant ultra quiet resonators do some serious work
Well you definitely helped Cricket out a lot! It was 2.25k when I subbed just now 9:27 ! And sometimes it is a benefit to listen to the community and fans of these channels! I was one that agreed that a X-Pipe would be a Big Difference In the sound!!! And seems like it worked!!! Thanks for actually reading the comments and caring about our opinions and suggestions!!! Some people definitely have to be ignored tho 😂! Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
Definitely sound ls better the x-pipe was definitely needed but I’d put the resonators in to help with the rasp and maybe do something with like an equal length header make that thing sound like a super car but amazing build love to see this thing coming along keep it up can’t wait to see where it goes
"Bro I gotta face for radio." Cricket is hilarious:-)
X & H pipe sections are more about equalizing pressures coming out of independent exhaust setups, hence the more refined tone. As others have said equal length headers and the resonators will further change the overall "tone" of the system but as there are no aftermarket equal length headers made for the 1GZ-FE they would have to be custom made and be a huge task and expensive. I've seen a guy in Canada who was making a crazy 12 to 1 header/collector setup for a 1GZ-FE he put into a Miata that looked interesting but never heard it.
I also commented, dual xpipe, or xpipe and h pipe. After the down pipes where they get close, do the x, then close to the end before they split, do the h. (Or the 2nd x comes not far after the first , can even do a triple).
The dual gives a higher pitch, triple cleans it up.
The x then h gives a deeper bark.
By far my favorite Century, building my ls400 using this as the cleanest example of what I want.
It sounds way better! I definitely think it needs a resonator. I'm not sure you need an ultra quiet resonator, you could probably get away with something that is a little smaller, but once you get that and ditch the burnt tips you're going to be set.
I remember an old article in a magazine putting in a H pipe in the best spot. Put a chalk line on the pipes and see where it burns off. The hot spot is where the join should be
That Century SCREAMS Yakuza 😅
Dude do what you like with your car, don't worry about people's comments it's your car do what you will be happy with
Much better. Now it puts me in mind of race cars from the 1930s, I absolutely love it!
Cricket is a good builder!
Cricket is a gangster! Always a pleasure when he is on camera
That’s absolutely crazy the difference in sound!! Sounds amazing now
Looks like the joining weld on that x- pipe will make a good place for water tom collect and rust out fairly quick!!!
This reminds me a bit of the McLaren F1 exhaust sound, probably because of the 6-2-1 merges, but as I've been diving down the content hole on trying to get that shrill lamborghini/zonda/v12 f1 sound, it gets pretty complicated. Personally, the current sound fits the car really well (i.e. the screaming v12 sound probably wouldn't fit). It's a bit hard to follow, but Maisteer recently put out a video on their approach, and talking about some of the intermediate steps/sounds that could be helpful in understanding what the current configuration is. IMO, keep headed in the direction you are, the x-pipe did wonders
Sounds great!!!! My S550 Mustang GT has double XPipes. No idea why but still happy with it 7 years later.
gotta hit up effspot for the headers hookup 👀👀
honestly i dont know how yous made it so bad, my hacked up mild steel exhaust running a H pipe in my 1996 bmw 750 sounds way crisper!!!! this still sounds like a V6
Def going to follow cricket. It’s not the funnest making videos without followers. Been at it for 4-5 years barely at 600 subs but will keep going!
Now you got 609 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 following
Im normally not a fan of burnt tips anymore but they look so clean
I absolutely love both these cars. The NSX is my dream car and the century is just beautiful
Fab up a set of equal length long tube headers, that should change the sound significantly, but that's probably a long term project...I don't know if there's any company that has them pre-made.
Sounds so much better! If you can live with it like this, I think you should just leave it until you can get the headers made. It would be nice to hear some clips of it revving up under load like in the other video.
2 or 2.5 inch xpipe closer to headers, which should be made equal lenght, would sound insane. But right now it sounds good too!
Bigg Iration fan! Love the x pipe, great video!
Your century is by far the best VIP car I’ve ever seen. I love everything about it!!!
Glad you listened to the comments and did the x pipe!!!!
A REAL EXHAUST FABRICATOR 💯
❤❤❤❤
Sean Paul’s Like Glue blaring in the background brings back so much memories
Good Job! you guys should also check out effspot's Century equipped with "Brilliant exhaust" that car sounds like a bit of V10 LFA
Hard to find crickets channel due to all of the channels for the sport. Many channels named cricket hq. One even has 18 subscribers. Gotta search it by the @. Don’t know if it’s in your goals but having the German counter part to the century would be dope as hell. Two v12s with crazy exhaust that sound like F1 but cruise so smooth you’ll fall asleep. Big S Class. ✌🏼
So much better! It sounds pretty close to a to an old school Countach V12!
Now it sounds like a countach or something, awesome!
True equal length manifolds would be wild! Make it sound super exotic
Mint let's frickin go can't wait to see what else is up for the wip . keep it up
Great sound, it does sound like my neighbors v12 Mercedes.
The valvetronics mufflers are so good, after the video where you showed them off I bought one. My Prius needed a new muffler so what the hell why not. It sounds like it has an engine in it for the first time.
I also have vibrant resonator, the resonator is what kills drone, I’ve used a 3” 4” and the ultra quiet on other cars. It makes a difference where in the exhaust you put it as much as the size.
With my little 4 cylinder the 3” works the best.
✌️
Yasss another video 🫶🏻 Thank you very much Mr. Mike 🙏🏻
I recommend getting the regular Vibrant “bottle style” 12” resonators and not the ultra quiet. I used the quiet ones first on my ‘22 WRX with the STI mufflers and it absolutely wrecked the tone and made it super quiet like a vacuum cleaner. I switched to the bottle 12” and it’s absolutely perfect. Just removes the drone and rasp, but leaves the tone and overall volume.
sounds so so good the Boys in the back playing with all the switch's was crack up as Crickett at 1.25 already lets go
The tips should be chrome or brussed as u named. The blue interrupts the clean look and not matching! Love from Sweden!
These engines with an exhaust remind me a lot of the sound of something like a Countach, sounds amazing!
Cricket is an awesome fab guy and between him and Isaiah (Rob Dahm's fabricator) you guys have made me wanna learn how to tig weld
EQUAL LENGTH HEADERSSSSSS!!!! FINAL FORM with those bro.🎉🎉🎉
Sounds deeper and raspier. Love it! Great improvement.
I'm not 100% sure how it works on an engine of this size, and with so many pulses, but an X pipe is typically used to balance pressure and between pulses creates a vacuum pulse.
It also cancels frequencies between each bank, so it drastically changes the tone. Sounds pretty good, with equal lengths the car will be ridiculous.
Placement of the X pipe makes a world of difference as well...
god, is sound so much better!
i would love to see something from cricket channel, he's really funny and talented
Keep the great work man
Dang, now it sounds like a old 70s-80s v12 ferrari or lambo 😍
Sounds a lot better and cleaner now.
i am watching this 2 weeks after it come out and cricket is up to 16k amazing.
A secondary X pipe closer to where the pipes first meet will help with the exotic sound tone you're chasing, Dual X pipes are the goal. It will get rid of more rasp while making it higher pitched.
Equal length exhaust manifolds and those resonators, it will sound perfect
crickets intro...flawless
Gintani uses smaller diameter thin walled tubing for his SVJ exhaust and they are AMAZING! Just an idea. Can ask him what you should do maybe?
Long tube equal length headers should be next priority!
You can get Pagani Huayra R V12 F1 sound, you just need equal length headers that go into one.
It's more like a 12-cylinder now big difference dude
Mate, i perfectly understand what kind of sound you're looking for. And you won't achieve it without long equal-length headers.
lol Sean’s reaction is been Fire lately in everyone’s videos lol
Cricket has 3.71K subs now 🙏
Sounds like a lambo or something. Waaaay better. Excited to see how you tweak it more in the future.
You said it best yourself, it sounds like an exotic v12 now. Nice work
21 Minutes after upload and Cricket is at 79 subscribers!
Ayeeee that’s awesome!!!
It needs rectangular double wall tips that match the shape of the bumper and the longest hotdog resonators possible, funny thing is they apparently outflow a straight pipe because of the turbulence created on the smooth wall of the straight pipe compared to the perforated pipe on the inside of the hotdog resonators. 👌
This I agree with 👏🏻👏🏻
Bro that was so cool to do for Crickett man
hey you bro, your community is really good, Crickett already have 6.3K followers wow
Now PERSONALLY, I'd say that just a couple inches of polished blast pipes (Nothing too crazy) would suit it perfectly
I run Vibrant resonators on all my cars including a 1986 Saab 900 Turbo running 20 lbs of boost (A decent amount for an 80s car) and it's perfect with a straight pipe into the resonator. Highly recommend.
moving the x pipe as far forward as possible will help it will allow the pulses to equalize sooner cleaning the sound.
The higher pitch is because the cylinders are much smaller. Being a V12, the cylinders/pistons have to be smaller or the engine would be massive and take forever to reach top RPM. Smaller combustion chambers, equals smaller explosions, equals higher pitched exhaust note.
Sounds like an Aston Martin. Nice.
Cricket killed it! Instant Subscribed now let’s see some videos! Honestly I wish he was in my hometown I would be doing way more projects
Can’t wait to see that man’s videos. Love his work
