- This video is a quick demonstration on how to use Fillet Weld Gauges to aide with welding inspection. This video will show step by step how to use Fillet weld Gauges to measure the fillet weld leg length and throat thickness. This instruction also explains the importance of checking fillet weld leg length from both directions and explains why it is necessary to measure both leg length and throat thickness; demonstrating how concave welds leg length may be compliant while the required throat thickness has not been reached. Fillet welding gauges are used to assist welding visual inspection, suitable to be used by welders, welding supervisors or welding inspectors to ensure fillet weld size conformance with welding specifications. When using the Fillet weld Gauges for visual inspection it is important to ensure the gauge is firmly on the parent material at a 90 degree angle to avoid inaccurate readings.

Fabrication drawing will tell you the size of the weld you need for the project. If you have a 3/16" weld symbol, that's the leg of the weld.
So when the throat isnt right do you just lay down another weld? or are you starting over and have to grind away and re-weld all of it?
What type gauge for depth single and double Bevel ?i need measure depth after arc gouging
pls increase the quality of videos
But how do you know which size to use? If they don’t give you paper work
They will give you paperwork, and it will tell you what size the fillet weld needs to be. e.g 8mm thick
@@willcoxon9079 this 8mm thick is equivalent to leg lenght?
@@Presidentbangag Yes
@@willcoxon9079 thanks
So when you're checking vertically is it also touching the toe ? I can't tell
