This may have been an intentional secret but low Charisma means you can easily be banished by spells like the Wuxi finger hold
holy flip that's perfect
You realize we’ll need a Lord Shen build following this, right? Only fair ;)
Imagine the Gary Oldman memes
Owlin/Aarakocra artillerist artificer?
@@Mitcheck315
I see him as more of an Aarakocra. Still, Artillerist Artificer is a good call.
AGREED. A NECESSARY ADDITION.
@@Mitcheck315 Owlin are specifically owls, so to be a peacock you'd have to be an Aarakocra
Finally!!! A worthy character! This campaign will be legendary!!!!
Is it wrong that I want to see a Kung Fu Panda Main Heroes vs Main Villains team up one shot now? Keep in mind that I’m waiting for Tulok to release the rest of the heroes and villains of the series. TV series included.
*Tai Lung*
A Snow Leopard Tabaxi monk (with levels in barbarian) who was raised with the idea that he would be a legendary warrior called the Dragon Warrior. However, he was denied this destiny, and let his ambition get the better of him, raging against his peers to get the Dragon Scroll. This had him carted off to the deepest, darkest prison, where he was locked up so tightly, he could barely move. However, after many years of imprisonment, he managed to escape, and now he seeks to finally claim the Dragon Scroll.
It honestly sounds like a dnd backstory
@@aidanedwards8931 Thanks
What’s the point of the barbarian levels?
@@joelkilchoer4238
Watch the video; Tulok explains.
I know the video was most likely written before MotM was released, so just so everyone knows, Tabaxi now deal a d6 with their claws and can be small.
I just watched Schasfarillas Productions's video on why Kung Fu Panda is a masterpiece, and the section talking about Tai Lung as an incredible antagonist made me realize a D&D build would be great.
Funny enough I made a Tai Lung character in my game for my players, but instead of barbarian I went with a paladin to show he had a noble origin and beginning then learned to fight more ruthlessly with martial arts while in prison. I think a case for either barbarian/monk or paladin/monk would work for a character like this. Either way this was a fun one!
And I personnaly believe he is a Monk 15-16 (Kensei Weapons) and 4-5 levels of Druid (Way of the Lands, ARTIC since he is a snow leopard). The spell Hold Person is great to represent his vital kung-fu and the Slow spell can also be used to represent those that can resist it.
I love how you are able to build the weaknesses into the characters along with their strengths.
This is weird, I watched a video essay on Kung Fu Panda yesterday then this video pops up. Wild
Was it Shafrillas?
This build is great, really strong, but I think that in a 1 on 1 fight, the Peach build can defeat Tai Lung, if one is willing to nurture it, to guide it.
Even more if its willing to use it's undead royal army /j
Believe in it.
But a peach cannot defeat tai lung!
Maybe it can. If you are willing to guild it. Nurture it. To believe in it. Promise me shifu. Promise me you will believe.
Hope he gets proficiency with Thieves Tools. Sorry I mean... a feather while he's covered in steel plates? Huh
I just got into DnD and recently came across this channel. It’s been a great tool in helping me understand just how many cool possibilities there are in terms of character creation. Definite sub.
i know it’ll be a tabaxi or a leonin but that’s all i know … probably monk or barbarian or both
You might be gifted for greatness, but be wary of the dangerous darkness in your hearth, or you might suffer the same fate of the leopard style master.
Tai Lung was raised to be a proud warrior, but to satisfy his ambitions he earned his 20 year incarceration rightfully, even with me requesting a Tangle the lemur build from Sir Tulok, i do it in a place of humility and to praise him more than myself, but with the talent this adoptive son have, is not hard to see why he thought himself deserving of the dragon scroll, funny considering that it only encapsulated the mystery of the secret ingredient.
Oh my god I’m so sorry. I hope you make a full recovery. And soon!
How I would have build Tai Lung is like this.
ASI:
Str- 15 because he a stronk boi
Dex- 14 Needed for multiclassing, and he is fast
Con- 12 The guy can definitely take a hit, and we just need it more than other things
Int- 10 He knows a lot about Kungfu, but not much else beyond that
Wis- 13 Multiclassing again, but he really isn't that wise all things considered
Cha- 8 He's scary, but not much else also cool DM's let barbarians use strength instead of charisma for intimidation
Levels:
Same as what is in the build it actually works pretty well.
Feel better Tulok!
If I had a nickle for every Kung-Fu Panda character with dumped Charisma, I'd have two nickles which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
We need The Bad Guys - Let's Build Them -
General Common Needs - Deception and Disguise Kit - they like doing this. Charlatan fits most as a background. Intimidation is possible as well. Rogue in needed for most.
Wolf - Expecting a cat, right? No! I'm going Hobgoblin with this guy - using Saving Face, or rather Fortune of the Many, Wolf pulls out what he needs in Moments of Need (except for when plot says otherwise), because of his allies bond with him - Power of Friendship indeed. Rogue is a good start. High Charisma. Party Face.
Snake - Yuan-Ti. Needs to be the safecracker. Guy spits venom, metaphorically.
Spider - Dhampir - need that spider climb. Hacker.
Shark - Lizardfolk - bard/barbarian. Needs the Actor Feat, and the Thrown Weapon fighting style.
Piranha - Halfling Ranger with Deft Explorer. Maybe throw in a level or two of monk. He's crazy.
*Spoiler*
C.P. - Let's have Custom Lineage, as anything close to their actual race might be an obvious spoiler. Needs at least 3 levels of Bard, as they have access to Vicious Mockery and cutting words. A few levels of monk might also help.
Didn’t have a guess for Tai Lung, but I have a preemptive guess for Lord Shen: Aarakocra Artillerist Artificer/Kensei Monk
I’m willing to go fighter instead because Shen’s supposed to hate Kung-fu, but he uses a big spear and fights in robes. I just think this does the best job of doing that
He doesn't Fly, so Kenku works better than Aarakcra
@@MegaPokefan97 Peacocks can definitely fly, though their plumage obviously slows them down. Plus I am like 99% sure from having rewatched the movie not too long ago that Lord Shen does indeed take flight at one point. IIRC he has an encounter with Po and then escapes by jumping off a building and proceeding to fly/glide away.
@@MegaPokefan97, respectfully, he does even fewer things than Kenku do. He can talk, he doesn't mimic voices, he doesn't do anything a Kenku does.
Even he doesn't fly (which he does in small capacity and at least glided from one building to another), then Custom lineage would better fit than Kenku.
@@charleshockenbury353 kenku can talk normally now thanks to MoM but yeah I agree
@@lucasramey6427 thank God
Original Kenku is a cute idea for 2 seconds and then you think about it even a little bit and it stops making sense
Before watching, I'm going to say...Kenku lore bard. No wait, tabaxi open hand monk with a couple levels of ranger.
“Imagine a panda fighting a bird”
Laughs in kung fu panda 2
Hell yeah! I think this is the first time I fully predict a build like this, Beast Kensei is such a good combo, I can't wait for the opportunity to play it.
I keep wanting to see a sequel that forces Po and Tai Lung to work together and end with Yai Lung quasi-redeemed
Wait, did Tai Lung survive exploding into gold dust at the end of the first movie?
@@AJCherenkov
I haven't seen the movie in a long time but I thought he was imprisoned in the Astral or Spiritual Plane or something like that.
Edit:
Yeah. Googled it and he is imprisoned on the Spiritual Plane.
@@bryanalexander7571 Maybe that came up in 3 or a spinoff or something, I wouldn't know. All we see in the original is Po dropping the finger, and a poof of dust, and he's gone
@@AJCherenkov
I don't know. I didn't see the sequels. I guess for my part, I originally just assumed as Po straight up executing a guy seems a bit dark, at least for the kid's movie that I recall. I turned out to be right but I can't point to any source material and say "that's why I thought that"
@@bryanalexander7571 Basically, Kai (The villain of the third movie) has jade heads of people who he's defeated, and Tai Lung is one of them.
Thanks for another great video! I'm sorry you caught covid. I hope you get better soon!
I don't know when this was recorded but if it was recent I hope you recover from the Rona as quick as possible and don't have any lingering issues.
I was literally just thinking about a tai lung d&d build. I feel I manifested this video
Question: as of Monsters of the Multiverse, Tabaxi Claws are already 1d6 unarmed attacks. Does that impact the choice for Barbarian or do you still want the Bite/Tail options while raging?
Beast Barbarian claws let you attack an additional time during your attack action so the updated Tabaxi features in MotM basically just grant a D6 natural weapon option for the early Monk and Barbarian levels and have a better climbing speed.
@@NexusCrux Good to know. Thank you, friend!
Anyone else notice he revealed Deflect Missles while showing Tai Lung Deflecting a spear?
Feel better soon man!
I would be really interested to see how you'd build the Rise of the Guardians characters. I just rewatched it a few nights ago, and honestly, it's still a great time.
Seconded, and asked last year.
If your attacking with the Path of the Beast Claws they can make 4 attacks with a standard extra attack. Claws specifically say when you attack you make 2 claw attacks and extra attack means 4 Claws with the action
I really want to see a Shigeo/Mob video from you guys. It'd be interesting to see how you guys would flavor him going 100% maybe wild magic?
Might a recommend a video on a build of any of the characters from the Syfy channel show Killjoys? I think it'd be a lot of fun playing one of them.
I'm gonna have to try this for with my kobold monk or Oni tiefling samurai
Get well soon!
I am sorry for you getting sick. I have had all 4 vaccines and got it too didn't loose taste but it was horrible so I am sorry you are going through it and hope you get well soon.
Could you please do a build for Kai. Those chain cleavers are awesome
Very fun video
a legendary build
If I may make a reccomendation, could you do Guts from *Berserk?* I have been quite eager to unleash the Black Swordsman upon my DM.
Sorry to hear you got the ‘Vid, Tulok.
Feel better soon
Could you make an updated Wanda build please!?
could you try sun wukong/the monkey king/the great sage equal to heaven next? quite curious if it's possible to make a char like him
You should do some builds from The Boys. Humans like Billy, MM, Frenchie, and Hughie. It’d be cool to see some supe builds too, but since they’re all based off of heroes you’ve probably done before, it’s probably not necessary.
- Frenchie is clearly alchemist artificer
- Butcher is probably a battlemaster
- MM would be difficult to pin down
- Hughie might be mastermind with some decent charisma skills, possibly bard
Now that we have the first movie villain it's obvious we need the other's too, I'm now waiting for Lord Shen and Kai!
As a card-carrying tabaxi monk stan, this makes me happy.
Tabaxi barbarian monk?
Excellent video. I'm here to again request a John Walker video. And then a Captain Carter video. Cuz we have to have all the Caps.
I like how Tai Lung has to be a Tabaxi because Shrek is the only one allowed to roar. But I like even more how it implies that Shrek is a Leonin
"Kinda like Ian McShane in real life."
Finally! I'm not the only one who noticed this.
What software do you use to make your videos?
I'd love to see you do Ratchet and Clank.
Tabaxi claws start at d6 now. It was updated in Mordecai's
Do I just auto-like any Tulok video that has a tabaxi?
...
Yes. Yes I do.
"I think you are holding your claws or teeth."
Well there go my hopes of using dentures for the character.
Did you make this video before you had access to Monsters of the Multiverse? Nothing wrong with the Volo's version, but the Tabaxi was updated in MotM to have its climb speed equal its walk speed, and the claw attack was upped to a d6 instead of a d4, plus movable stats as standard since post Tasha's.
What school of wizardry do I have to go to to cast Taste?
This would be an odd request ... but if you're doing villains as well as hero's, how would you create the character of Gollum from the LOTR saga?
Yeah we need more Kung-Fu Panda characters
Thanks.
YES,asked this a long time ago
Jubei Kibagami build from Ninja Scroll...how to duplicate his ranged sword strikes in 5e?
Idk if anyone else wants this- but I really want to play that guy from Sifu but idrk if I should choose Open hand or Long Death monk. Anyone got a tip?
I think I'm accidentally putting together the plot of Kung Fu Panda from watching Tulok videos??
Interesting, I made my own Tai-Ling esqe character as an NPC that my players never met. I used the Monk/barbarian multi class but I went enough Zealot Barbarian not to worry about dying and then the rest open hand monk. I was going for more of a beyond limit kind of brawler
Okay, pre-build prediction: leonin, open hand monk/berserker barbarian. Full stronk.
My dumbass immediately thought he'd be a bugbear because I forgot that tabaxi was a thing
can you do Rudy, from Jobless reincarnation?
Can you make a Haseo from .hack GU? Specifically his ability to transform into his big Avatar form Skeith? Preferably the first or second level Skeith forms. Not the white white. I want to go big, use scythes and shoot blasts!
PLEASE do Kai next! 😁
Jesse Faden is also a highly mobile unarmored combatant with a powerful unarmed attack.
So what race would Beerus be?
Is there some kind of running/inside joke about monk being the only class with an extra attack feature at level 5?
tai lung is so fine i almost wish he wasn't evil but being evil makes him more hot actually
anyway good build
It should be noted that the tabaxi claws are not REQUIRED to be raised by the martial arts die from monk. DMs who are total stickler for the rules may say that no matter what your unarmed attacks damage is that you're tabaxi claws are RAW 1d4 slashing. It's crap. At my table I allow unarmed to be either when you have the option like tabaxis. Bludgeoning or slashing. I just tell my players to make sure they note which are which. But I allow the tabaxi claws to scale but not EVERYONE will. Not trying to be a know it all or a jerk to tulok. He is amazing and I love this show. Just want to warn people who try to bring this to a table to check with your DM first. Most people I know allow it. But I have known some crazy strict DMs who LITERALLY do not stray from the source books AT ALL. so again. Just a heads up. Thank tulok. Love the show and the channel. I'm almost up to date on this show. Lol. Can't believe you've made this many episodes. Kudos dude. Congrats. Very impressive
Need at least 5 in monk. Stunning Strike is one of his trump card techniques
YES
This is also a great Sabertooth
Leonin Bard/Warlock??
Has anybody here ever watch Chaotic? I would love if he did a build of some of there characters like Maxxor or Intress
I like how tulok made his charisma los because the finger hold banishment technique po uses goes off of charisma
Day 1 of asking Tulok to make a James Bond build
As a cat owner, I can assure that most cats do not like wearing clothes.
If the 6 are like the avengers does this mean po is thor? If so who's captain America tigress or viper
Tigress is Cap. I'd say Viper is Hawkeye. She was born without fangs, nor venom, and thus had to make do with her speed and agility. Kinda reflective of Hawkeye, who has to compete with superpowered people while being basically just a dude with a bow
But Tabaxi give +2 Dex and +1 Charisma?
Did you overhear me saying Tai Lung is my favorite Kung Fu Panda villain, or is he just a very common favorite?
"He will not be a Tabaxi, instead we will use custom lineage"
Here's a potentially challenging build. Richthofen from CoD zombies :)
Po actually did have to fight a bird, it was the 2nd movie :/ should watch it
Tanya the Evil maybe???
Tai lung vs Yujiro, Restu Kaioh or Kaku Kaioh.
I'm still waiting on Sabertooth from Marvel to show up here. Wolverine Origins version.
Can we get one on the god of heavy metal: Eddie Munson?
Make " Hawk Eyes" Mihawk
Tabaxi Monk
Where is Shantae?
Stronk build?
Yeah! A Stronk Build!
I vow to wear a mask at grocery stores.
