On this site, we make perfect movies, and then we surpass them. Of course, if we can surpass them, they were not perfect in the first place, but who would have known?
When "perfection" is defined as "as fast as possible", it requires some sacrifices. Indeed, this movie sacrifices a lot in the playability of the game. Full of tricks ( tasvideos.org/... ) to pass through walls, tricks to avoid mandatory battles, tricks to pass through enemies relatively unharmed, tricks to acquire weapon refills in little time - there is very little in this movie left that resembles normal playing. Even death is used as a viable playing strategy that saves time. All of the tricks are still performed by the means of mere controller input, even though significant portions of the input were calculated by a computer program.
This movie improves the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) by a tremendous 2 minutes and 37.99 seconds, thanks to a new route and better optimisation. Please read the authors' comments ( tasvideos.org/... ) for more details.
Of course, upon watching this movie, one does have to question something... is it Mega Man saving the world? Or Dr. Wily trying to save it from absolute destruction?
--------
WARNING: There are flashing lights during the level select screen and in boss fights which may cause epileptic seizures to those affected.
The second set of encodes leads to a version where the graphics have been fixed.

I like the stage where he wins.
1987
Player: "This game cheats!!!"
2020
Game: "This human cheats!!!"
how the tables have turned
Finally, an alternate universe where Megaman gets to save the world in Megaman "1", without destroying it in the process.
Either that or Dr. Light improved Rock's vision so he wouldn't see the destruction he has caused
That's actually very good augmented reality tech.
Hopefully it doesn't censor spikes, for Rock's sake, no matter how "destroyed" they may look.
R.I.P. score counter
Won't be missed...
3:21 oh no, he's gonna fall in the-- never mind
You got: "ight imma head out"
The little rapid speed up of the pause/unpause in the underwater wily stage, mm, perfect cheekiness I love in TASes.
7:00 "fixed graphics" is a little relative.
(only a little though. thanks for the alternate encode!)
You know what makes the timing of this improved TAS especially funny?
… _RUclips_ keeps recommending a _Mega Man_ parody cartoon to me which is based on TAS runs and done in the style of TerminalMontage (which is wacky, to say the least).
That sounds pretty cool, what's it called?
Look up "Mega Man animated speedrun." Should be the first video on the results. 👍
Red Moon Arcade. Watch his Rockman 4 video too.
He does it really well.
!!! The _Rockman 4_ one is _out,_ now?! Oh, man… you just made my day, guy!
@@JoLiKMC no problem broski
Haha, you discoverd another road, like the "finish bug" in Iceman and Gutsman world. I'm really impressed, your last Tas was in 2012, and since you did it, i thougth it was impossible to do more. But you did it! Congrat!
This TAZ is so terrifying to the point it made me forget who is the bad guy in this game..... XD
I love to listen to all the songs when playing Smash Bros!
Bravo, great TAS.
There was this one part in Elecman's stage where I think you accidentally walked through the empty space in a room in between the walls.
I am legit impressed how smoothly the OP's did the ACE's. I hesitate to ask how long that'd have taken.
technically no ACE is used (read the tasvideos authors notes)
At the first of the Cutman stage, there are many enemies. You cannot "warp" with those?? Around 2:40.
GG Guys holy shit !!!
I think it finally dawned on me at 4:30 that he had magnet beam and hadn't stepped foot in elec man's stage yet. Uh....
Maybe during the great exploit of Iceman or Gutsman's stages were fucked up enough to drop the item before he beat the level.
WHAT, 2 minutes and 37.99 seconds, holy crap
Off a ten year long record too!
I never realized this game was so broken. 🤔
Heeeello! from 1 year latter. TAS's do that.
@@gorkskoal9315 hi i somehow managed to catch u 3 hours after you posted
@@DavidHatesNewRUclips lol thanks man.
nice
I like the part where he's blue
....wtf happened in Ice Mans stage, code execution?
yes
Pretty sure that's not even code execution, just an overflow due to the sheer amount of stuff going on.
What in the 8-bit Justice league flashpoint is going on here??!!!
lol just going out on a limb here. They found the Japanese edition, looked up every bug. and then spent a lot of time to break it. Just for 9 minutes of game play recording.
What is this game anymore!?
He surpasses most of the bosses by using some sort of game breaking glitch. He somehow gets the Magnet Beam from Ice Mans stage. Which has a glitch which where the player can access most of the games content and upgrades, he doesn't even do that glitch. He does all of the bosses, like, perfectly. Breaks the stages, somehow glitches more than just Ice Mans stage to glitch them in a way that they beat the stage by killing a load of enemies and messing with the graphics. This doesn't even scratch the surface of insanity! HE BREAKS WILY 1 IN A MERE SECONDS AFTER STARTING THE STAGE. HE DESTROYS EVERY ENDGAME STAGE IN THE GAME!
Glitchman. 😎
The only mega man with points
The Power Battle, The Power Fighters, and Powered Up would like to have a word with you.
Huh, a robot playing as a robot....
neat
You guys ace’d it!
How did they get the magnet beam
O must've been the ACE
ACE is never at any point used during the run. All the memory addresses being pointed at during the glitch portions of the run are pure ROM addresses.
So referencing the ROM pointers to obtain the magnet beam give you the magnet beam?
@@KnuxMaster368 Yes, the magnet beam item is spawned in.
Quick Megaman The robot masters are out of control do something!Ok give me 10 minutes.
goddammit megaman
gutsman, bombman and iceman are still wrecking havoc
@@mateuszodrzywoek8658 you do get their weapon though
this feels like a Video TerminalMontage would make
I just noticed that the score is gone
Wow good point.
Does anyone know why the game thinks the stage is cleared if you cause enough lag?
Memory overflow. There is a reason why this game is called "The buggiest Rockman/Mega Man game in existence."
To put it in simple terms, this game was incredibly rushed (like X6) and was not tested for bugs or glitches. Furthermore, the game was never designed with optimization in mind, this, combined with the Famicom/NES very low CPU capacity (because computers or consoles back then were not very powerful) means that it becomes very easy for CPU overflows to happen and it breaks the game as a result.
I am not OK with ACE in TAS runs.
this isnt ace tho
WTF is happening during some of these stages
wtf was that iceman thing??
If I understand this correctly, they explain a lot of this in AGDQ TAS, in Super Mario World games.
What they do is that they fill the screen with so much information so it kind of crashes the game and make it think it's completed.
As you can see, TAS gather a lot of enemies and then shoots them to fill more information before the game goes completely nuts.
多分これが一番早いと思います
Sure
8:20 ???
The TAS utilities an exploit to create infinite Guts Blocks out of thin air, and manipulates RNG to throw the blocks right at the boss.
So when's sub 9? lol
こんな状態でもファミコンって止まらないんだね
This is not TAS movie. This is a HACK movie.
Stop crying 1 Year old kid
In your dream stop crying 1 Year old kid noonb 😁
Ok.
unlosing fighting robot go!!!
...But Megaman dies once in the run...
@@uubrmanx But not necessarily losing, no?
@@flash4354 Perhaps?
@@uubrmanx died to take checkpoint advantage
This isn't only Tool Assisted Speedrun. You use cheat to skip bosses. You use cheat to beat Iceman, gutsman, bombman, wily 1 and wily 2 stages. This is normally impossible to skip bosses without using the cheat. Wily stage 3 is ok, you use glitch it is regularly.
… clearly you don’t understand what a TAS is capable of
everything you see is technically possible (maybe not humanly possible given all the frame perfect inputs) on completely unmodified hardware without the use of cheats or mods
@@elrichardo1337 I understand TAS. Tool assisted speedrun, where you can use, glitches, turbo shooting buttons. But he used game genie codes to skip stages and bossfight. He used cheats too. The game cannot be started with MAGNET beam before you playing and pick it up in elec man stage. He used it before he played elec man stage.
I know well what TAS is. I saw mega man 3 TAS by Aglar 30.44.73. He didn't use game genie codes to skip stages, and cheating. He played so fast, the game seems modified to pass the level faster, and killing bosses is faster than normal. Nothing else just that.
@@MEMA1987go read the TAS explanation on the website, everything in this run is achievable without cheats or mods (some of the insane stuff like the level skips or early magnet beam is probably done with very precise inputs to corrupt the game’s memory)
lol 😂 😂 did they just goatse the game. lol megman man 1 TAS: who needs game physics?
I am so lost
