I'm here cause I learnt a hard lesson. My phone had a software issue and got stuck on the load-screen. I had to wipe the device And I didn't have any cloud service or backup of my stuff anywhere. This is a great video review, backup every week or so to be as up to date as possible on your cloud storage. 💯
I just have a hard time trusting the pCloud or something like that will be around in 20 years and it is hard to imagine that Google or Microsoft wont. That is why I usually use the bigger more established companies for something like this as much as I hate to sometimes.
Seriously,, let’s go back in time when Nokia and Motorola dominated the cellphone market… No one I mean NO ONE ever thought at that time in just few years they will be dead. No one can ever trust the future.
Yeah this is my biggest problem as well.. I would like to de-google and de-microsoft myself as much as I can, but yet there is not as big alternative company as they, so we just come back to them again... for example I found no other service as google photos while I hate that photos, android, etc. all my life is at 1 company
Just a correction: The storage plans for pCloud are 500GB and 2TB - not 2GB and 10GB as incorrectly mentioned and shown by you. Please correct this. Apart from that, your video was very informative.
I've tried online services for backup, btu have been frustrated by my slow internet. Paying for 300Mbps down, only gives 5Mbps up. These back up services suck for uploading my data to the cloud when ISPs limit speed like this.
I heard of client reviews where Pcloud auto delete a user accounts without consult with their auto detection of your images and files should they see it to be a copyright or something bad in nature, this is all good except that it violated the biggest part of need for cloud, privacy. Can you speak on this?
@Xan He It's better to hear company's take on this. You can check what they have to say about deletion of data under "Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy". While you're at it. Also check out "Acceptable Use of the Site and Services". www.pcloud.com/terms_and_conditions.html
Was Kayak fishing on the Cumberland River in TN. Removed my Samsung Note 9 to snap a picture of my wife behind me.. when a low hanging branch hanging out over the river caught my fishing pole and capsized my Kayak sending my phone to the bottom of the river along with 1000s of photos (including ones of my late mother) ... when I went to retrieve my pics to my new phone I realized that my backup had been turned off at some point .. all the photos are lost forever..
You mentioned pCloud prices and also mentioned a 65% discount coupon on top of that. The actual pCloud prices even after applying 65% discount are HIGHER than what you mentioned. VERY MISLEADING!
Hey, I found a way around that issue. Say if your photos you want to remove from the cloud are on your phone, and you sign into Google photos on a separate device, you can delete the photos from the cloud that way- and they will still remain on your phone. Been there done that- there are *some* photos that I just don't want backed up online, it's as though Google doesn't understand why!
Are any of these options permeant? What happens when I’m old or dead … I don’t want to work hard on my photos just to have it all deleted if I die and don’t make a monthly pmt
Just got back from a high school reunion. Everyone was taking photos. Is Google Photos the best service for enabling many people to upload and download photos to a single site in the cloud?
Question: So you said that idrive has a 2gb cap per file. What does that specifically mean? Does that mean you only have that much space for ALL your videos, or you get that much space for each video? How many minutes of phone videos would that cover?
@Lauren Shaff That limit is for individual files. And if you upload a folder containing files exceeding that limit, then such files will be excluded and the rest of the files will be uploaded to your cloud account. You can do rest of the math :)
I got to watch your video as i am already a user of google photos as at the begining i have found it convinient as it sync natutally with my gmail account. The problem however is some lack of capabilities which i find them very crucial such as the ability to delete specific local folder on my phone without fhe back up folder being deleted(the photos however still saved in google photos, but in the main tab of 'photos' which they are all mixed together and not ordered by folder name) Is there any backup app among those in this video that can can delete local folder without affecting the backup folder?
On Mac pCloud Drive cannot be installed on the M1 version. (even if you lower the security as they ask you to do). This is a major problem. The good is that the listed of shared folders/files is esay to edit (not like DropBox that does not allow you do erase you shared files and links other than 1 by 1 - that is horrible). All in all I agree pCloud is great but the Drive not working on M1 is not good at all
I love your breakdown of features!👍 I watched the video twice over. I couldn’t find the feature I’m looking for though, did I miss it? Does any of the platforms offer Auto-backup of ALBUM photos from an Android device?😊 (auto-syncing Albums and the photos within each album, not merely autosyncing chronologically)
@Mom and Me Activities [M.A.M.A.] Thanks for liking the video. Please do subscribe. To answer your question, all of these services offer provide auto backup from your Android phone photos folder. All these apps come with different kind of smart features to tag and arrange your photos. For instance, pCloud lets you customize exactly what you want to back up. Google uses AI to recognize and store your photos to the cloud.
I'm confused by all the options. I belong to an organization that wants to share photos and videos with about 75 people. What's the best plan to do this? Some of the videos are large. I've tried Amazon Photos, but I can't figure out how to limit the audience / secure to just this organization and how to do with without sharing my Amazon Prime account ID? Can you help me?
Thanks for this summary. Here is a question, for those concerned with the third-party "tagging" and face-recognizing features, is there software available for a local computer install where it will "crawl" through your attached hard drives and tag them automatically, recognize faces/objects, etc. etc. I am aware of Lightroom but it will not automatically tag faces, locations or objects. thx
Over the coarse of a few years gathering up all my photos stored on different media I think I am around 40,000 pictures. Over time moving fix files from one place to another it seems like I lost the ability of the location of where the picture was taken. I use to be able to pull up a google map and it would show all my pictures from different countries. Now it seems I only see picture from the USA only. I wonder what happened to them?
Tyvm, i have a galaxy and i like google photos (almost full) but i also have onecloud AND google drive..what do i do to ONLY use google photos..delete all else? Keep anything?
Having a Synology NAS, not all services can be synced to (using Cloud Sync). Using Google drive now but is thinking about to use Amazon Glacier when I have some time over
Can you share how you solved your upload speed problem. I’m having such issues with cloud storage. I purchased idrive. According to my speed test my upload speed is 20mbps. I have 900GB. According to my math that 12.5 hours. But I’m already in day 6 of uploading and still am only at 80%.
900GB = 7200Gb. 7200*1024 = 7,372,800Mb. 7,372,800/20 = 368,640 seconds / 60 = 6144 Minutes / 60 = 102.4 Hours / 24 = 4.26 Days. Seems about right, you'll never max out your 20Mbps upload speed and there's network overheads sending the data back and forth, so there's much more data at a slower speed in reality. MB(ytes) and Mb(its) are 2 different units!
I paid for an anonymous service to obtain an invite to an Unlimited Google Drive folder, I had about a years worth of memorable photos of videos of when I started playing with cameras. One day it was all deleted and Google couldn't assist me lol.
Hello I have been using dropbox for 2010 and its full and expensive to buy storage what can i use to move my info and files phots etc? Thanks for your knowledge!
So I am not doing this for a business I just want to share high school varsity pics with other parents can I do this for free preserving it’s size please let me know TY😊
I don't know if you have ever used OneDrive but it's very frustrating to use, when you have an album from a recent holiday that you wanted to upload, then when you upload it to OneDrive it is supposed to save it to an album automatically that I have it set up to do, but it doesn't and now I have to scroll through my thousands of photos to pick out the trip to put into a separate folder, and I only wanted to share it with the people who went with me. It does give you the office apps when you get the 2tb a month which is good but their photos is not easy to use especially on my android phone which is a Samsung s21 ultra. It looks nothing like windows 10 layout and it doesn't upload photos automatically even if you have it set up to do so lol the community boards say similar things about photo uploads on Microsoft site. I love Microsoft had this for well over 2 years but this is so frustrating recently and the office apps have kept me lol I think I'll be going back to Google, was so much easier.
I feel the same way. I like one drive for files it is great but images as you said were already organized then having to go through and organize them again on cloud storage is aggravating and VERY time consuming shouldn't have to do the organizing twice!
