He's AMAZING. He's the SMOOTHEST sounding jock I've ever heard, with style to spare. I LOVE the way WBLS sounded like back in the '70s - ESPECIALLY love the music. I would do anything to go back in time in New York when WBLS sounded like this. I'd NEVER turn the radio off!
@@EllisFeaster naa......J.D. Holiday...the day he announced "...here's the "The Isley Bros........Choosy Lovers......choosey lovers choose Jif.......smooth not crunchy." Lol!
Listening to your airchecks of WBLS in the late 70's-80's, I can now see Frankie tried to replicate himself in the likes of B.K Kirkland and Sergio or maybe it was the other way round? Like someone commented on this thread...I honestly wish I could go back in time to live in New York during this era to experience first hand the best experience in radio that was WBLS!
In 1981 BK Kirkland no longer worked at WBLS. He worked for 92KTU at that time. Also, the songs you listed are not on this aircheck. The cassette I pulled this audio from was a tape I had from my junior year of high school, in 1977. I have another WBLS air check I recorded in college, in 1981, posted here on You Tube. Could you have heard those songs on that recording?
@portiakirkland Hey Portia! I ran across another aircheck of your dad! I miss hearing him "live" om XM. I guess almost everything is voicetracked these days. I hope all is well with your radio show!
Could I please ask for a favour of a life time Ellis? Is there anyway I could get off you the full recordings of Frankie, Kirkland & Sergio in exchange for some of the stuff I have?
This brings tears to my eyes. It sounds so good....OLD SCHOOL FOR REAL!
Glad you enjoyed it! I've posted a few more, including a Frankie Crocker air check on WBLS from 1972.
@@EllisFeaster I don't know if your question was answered but "Captain" Al Roberts was the original overnight jock at 'BLS.🌜
@@EllisFeaster BTW, Circa 79-81 approximately, FC hired Billie Burdette for middays. Never heard anything about her since then.
@@bsmith9506 I never heard from her again either.

Whoaaaaaa.... Ellis, I wish it would last longer.
I can listen for hours....
I understand! I wish I had recorded more back in the day!
I hear BK Kirkland on XM radio on a daily basis now, still sounding good!
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the memories!!!
BK was great! You can still hear him on XM radio, on The Groove. He is is voicetracked (pre recorded), but it is still great to hear him.
Bk sounds a little different but still good
That recording is a bit slow,,,,the pitch is a bit slow.
