That was great! Typical news segment. Great delivery as well. Missing is the typical teletype sounds! WWRL should have used them!

I'm a big reggae fan, and found this searching for Jeff Barnes. It's striking how clear and precise his enunciation is, isn't it? This is three years older than I am, and lately it's starting to feel like I grew up in the land before time. Kinda puts things in perspective.

I have a tape of Jeff from 1981 from the Caribbean era of WLIB. I’ll digitize it and try to post it soon.

Nice stuff. Takes me back to my days at WWRL. However, reading that Siemens Furniture spot was not Frankie Crocker, it was our newsman, Don Ross. Frankie was at WBLS 107.5 at that time. What? None of my airchecks?

Hey Bobby! Thanks for the correction. I thought it was Frankie's voice. I guess my ears have been dulled after 40 years of cranking my headphones too loud on the air here in Florida!
I shot you a note on Facebook asking if you have any of your old air checks to share here. I have lots of your CBS-FM stuff, but nothing earlier. I started this RUclips channel to preserve the memories of great radio of the past, and I would be honored if you could share some of your past air checks with us. If they are on reel to reel, cassette, or DAT, I can digitize them & get you a digital copy if you don't already have it. If you are interested, let me know. I'll even cover the shipping. You can also reach me on Facebook. Just search "Ellis Feaster" or email me ellis@feasterfamily.com
      Thanks!

Jeff Barnes... didn't he do sounds of the Carribean on Saturday Evenings?

Yeah. I've been trying to find archives of that--no luck.
