  • PHILODENDRON GLORIOSUM COLLECTION - ARE WE BEING SCAMMED?
My collection of philodendron gloriosums has grown in size. However, as of late I've noticed more and more 'new' varieties of gloriosums that have been surfacing. Are we being scammed? I think this could be controversial - but stay tuned!

IMO they are all just gloriosum and the variations we see are environmental. I have a friend that has experimented growing them in different conditions. In her experience, lower temps gave her zebra like veining. Higher light/ humidity gave her more intense pink backs/ veining. I can't remember all the different things she tried but those are the 2 that stuck out to me as those were my 2 fav forms. I can confirm the higher light/ humidity bringing out the pink. Ive tried that one myself. I also heard another plant tuber (Alice[you dont grow here]I think) say that she tried the lower temps and got the zebra veining. Maybe there are actually different forms of this plant but im more inclined to think it's just growing conditions 🤷‍♀️

Yes! I propagated my giant gloriosum and the ones in my kitchen all have dark leaves, pink backs, v-shape. And the one i have in my livingroom is very green and light in color, green backs, round, and is quite veiny

I used to have the round form, it had to get really mature for the leaves to really round out. Leaves also got larger than the other forms I had.

I completelly agree with you about different names and sellers! Its not controversial, this is just marketing … and i will add to the confusion 😂 i have regular form Ecuagenera and it has round petiole, „verde” form is very D shaped , and i have also gloriosum from Indonesia which also has D shape petiole and its petiole and back of the leaves has more pink hue 😂

"Radiante" is laughably similar to a zebra. That's such a scam lol
