As time has gone on i think the Negative one opening riff is the one that pops into my head the most often now. super fun to play and jam that tune! So many good choices here brotha! :)
I personally do not like the new 1. I just cant get into it no matter how many times I listen to it. To me it sounds like a band trying to mimic slipknot or stone sour trying to write slipknot songs but for some reason to me its missing the soul of slipknot or that something special. Its hard to explain, but I look forward to their next album!
@@creepymcpeepers We are not your kind is their latest from 2019 and thats the album I couldnt get into, and I meant I look forward to their next as I always do. Ive been listening to them since I 1st saw them on mtv back in shit idk 99 or 2000 and they were a huge reason I got into rock and metal. Them and limp bizkit, linkin park, korn etc. The nu metal of that era was instrumental in opening me up to other genres of metal.
@@mmaviator22 for sure. I haven’t listen to anything after All Hope is Gone. But their Vol. 3 and AHIG was just hard to listen to for me. Musically it’s good, I just can’t get past Cory’s crappy vocals.
this subtle distrokid product placement lmao I really like the riff in "The Blister Exists" in the breakdown. So much raw intensity. also just like you I was obsessed with the duality riff, but at the time I did not have the proper gear (single coil pickups, not enough distortion) and I practised for weeks on this riff only to find out later on why I struggled so much. Your tone is really cool
First heard and saw Slipknot at the 99' ozzfest on the 2nd stage...I think everyone's jaws just dropped...then the brutal pits on the asphalt started!!!Not the last time seeing them, but it was omg legendary!!!
The first song I heard was Before I forget in Guitar Hero 3, but years years I heard again in Guitar Hero Live, about 6 years ago now, and I thought it sounded cool, so I looked up slipknot on youtube and the first vid that showed up was sic live at Dynamo Open Air in 2000. The energy was insane I was so exited about it I listed to all the albums. Also as cheesy as it sounds only a few days after I saw that vid I was having dreams of playing guitar on stage and now 6 years later I'm playing guitar still not in a band or anything like that but I still have that fire under me and a strong love for metal music.
I've been a huge slipknot fan for over 20 years now, same hometown so I don't really even have a choice haha. My parents bought me a mick thomson signature NJ Warlock in high school, the one with the HATE inlays across the lower frets. I've still got it and still love it!
Nice for sure sic I have the same feeling it was the first song I actually heard by slipknot in the year 2000 from my cousin. Love the videos hope you’re well
A few of my favorite riffs were left out, Liberate, from the Self-titled. I love that bouncy groove riff, Only One the riff that comes in the middle of the song and the main riff off My Plague from Iowa.
The main riff of Psychosocial is my all time favorite riff. Then the intro riff to before I forget. Now some of my love of that riff is the drum part going on with it.
Mine will always be Wait and Bleed. I was in middle school when I got their 1st album right after it came out and watched the video on mtv every day after school and then got the disasterpieces dvd when it came out and purity and left behind also get added to that list. More recently the devil in I has become 1 of my favorite riffs!!
A lot of my favorite riffs come from Vol. 3. Opium of the People, The Blister Exist, Three Nill. All these songs are filled with awesome riffs. Also, idk what it is about Before I Forget but I always have trouble playing that opening riff. There’s something about it that’s extremely hard for me. Lol
I've got all of the albums but I need to listen to them more often. It's usually Foo Fighters, Lamb of God, Trivium, Tool, Alter Bridge, In Flames, Big Wreck, Dead Sara, Megadeth & Iron Maiden then Slipknot.
Cool fact about duality pinch harmonic, Jim and mick each play a different note on the harmonic to blend two notes…..I think lol. My favorite to play is solway firth, dead memories, phycosocial. Hey ray, I have the EMG Jim roots also exact same ones Daemonons. U like them?? I’m not crazy about them honestly. I own a 81-60 in another guitar and I think it sounds wayyyyy better. Curious your opinion??
When I was 12 I never heard slipknot and we kept getting these catalogs for bmg music in the mail with my brothers name on it and they said I could order 12 cds for 12 dollars and I ordered it under my brothers name and never paid it lol and I got the first slipknot fe before I had ever heard them and I remember turning it on and I was like this is awesome then about 6 years later my brother checked his credit and found out that I ordered the cds under his name and never paid for it
I love the black hardware but when I change strings sometimes it’s really hard to see the holes in the tuning pegs maybe I just need to buy lightbulbs though cause I have been neglecting buying light bucks cause I want plug ins now
When I play duality I cant get the pitch that the guitars make when you pull the 2nd string down on the 3rd fret any reason why? Playing on a Jackson if that has anything to do with it.
I honestly love most of the riffs mentioned. I also love Sulfur from AHIG as well as Vendetta and Gematria from that album. The Blister Exists from Vol. 3 is also another that stuck with me a lot.
@@xanderraymondcharles well in that case, very clever. But, can’t you text Jim or something and ask them not to do that haha. I’m sure he is cool with it.
Nope. Road runner and Warner own the music and the rights to it. So again, when you leave a comment laced with criticism and negativity, please understand there are rules and laws I have to abide by. Not to mention it kinda bums me out, especially when I explain why it’s in a different tuning in the video.

Yeah I agree with you. Such a great riff
I’d say put “spit it out”, “ The Heretic Anthem”, “surfacing” and “Left Behind” on the list. Man Slipknot’s first two albums were so good.
For sure the bridge of spit it out and the middle part of heretic anthem are so fun af to play!!!!!!!!! Ray was trippin when he forgot these!!!

I'd put AOV, Gently (breakdown section), Eeyore and I Am Hated as my favorite Slipknot songs. Also I'm stoked to see them live next month \m/
Gematria is up there for me. So thrashy I love it \m/
yeah if I had an honorable mention it'd be on there for sure. maybe I'll make a part 2
Gotta love those pinch harmonics! Well played man 🤘

the breakdown in the killing name is insane thats probably one of my favorite riffs besides all the old stuff off selftitled and iowa

The first slipknot riff i learnt was disasterpiece my all time fave song and one of the hardest ones I've tried to learn but fun to play
Ya that eyeless breakdown is wicked

All great riffs ! I think my favorite one at the time would be the intro riff of All Out Life
Not a bad choice at all
I love your work, I love your some riffs (especially Recollection), I love your videos. But you hurt this strat with that oversized block inlays :)
Tape/stickers aren’t inlays. Its not ruined. Also, its his guitar, so who cares
I really like The Nameless from Subliminal Verses! But I’m in approval of your choices nonetheless. Make a part 2. 🔥
I love, love that neck. Where did you get it? Killer riffs.

For me it was spit it out. Guitar world in 98 or 99 had a tiny article about these up and comers and pointed me to that song
Ah man @7:37 I was expecting you to do a pinch harmonic with the word $hit. Kinda like what they do in Metalocalypse.
Three Nil is such a fun song to play off of Vol. 3
Blister, Vandetta and AOV, whole songs are best riff compilation riff!!😃
The main riff of All out life...chefs kiss
I love the black hardware but when I change strings sometimes it’s really hard to see the holes in the tuning pegs maybe I just need to buy lightbulbs though cause I have been neglecting buying light bucks cause I want plug ins now
Definitely scary hearing that growing up my mom bought me that record lol also at that time the Limp Bizkit album
bro the pinch harmonic thing is the same for me... It took me a half a year to relalise that I do them completely wrong
do a fav Deftones riffs videooooo 😍😍😍😍
Now that is a great idea!
Hey ray I've been looking at putting the masking tape on my fretboard as markers , is there much wear and do you feel it much when you play?
Amazing... incredible. Wow Nice
