I bought the Mr. Gasket #5657 universal throttle cable kit. Mine had no problems at all. I could tighten it down snugly without any problems and the hole was centered. I did have to buy 2 stainless steel fender washers because the little washers they supplied were too small. Their little washers would hold it in place but didn't cover the corners of the square hole on my firewall. I used 3/8 fender washers but 8mm would have fit nicer. Cheers!
Yeah its suppose to sandwich between the firewall. I didn't want to buy the throttle cable bracket (Spectre P/N 24283) which would have fit the square plastic piece. The factory cable was a round rubber adapter and the only way I was able to get it to work was running the part where it screws to the factory throttle bracket. The Square plastic piece fit real nice into the factory firewall location. Almost like it was meant to be there. I did put a carb on the car and have been thinking about getting an intake. If I do that I will probably get the bracket from Spectre and a few cans of orange engine paint.

Nice! Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience with the parts!

I think the part where it screws sandwiches between the firewall and not the carb bracket?

Oh nice, yeah I know those cables aren't that cheap, an if it worked koodos, I just recently bought the mr. Gasket one
Can this be used on a 2004 mustang 3.9l v6?
I've been trying to find a reasonable priced replacement but most are used and pointless to sell because of the condition from driving for years
Aye my good sir did it work I have the same model mustang and mine just ripped off the gas pedal
