Tech tip...make measurements in full throttle position. Have a second person hold the gas pedal to the floor. Use a tie strap or something to hold the throttle wide open. When you release everything it'll allow the pedal to come up to its natural resting point. If you adjust with everything relaxed, you can easily over stress it if it's too tight or won't get full throttle if too loose.
Great video. Finally had my carb’d crate motor in my 87 Firebird running right and the throttle cable snapped on the way home. Luckily I was close and idled home. Highlight was the cop that ignored me and kept driving by.
I have that same throttle bracket… found that when I put it on it was binding against the carb linkage and not letting it return all the way. Ended up shaving a little bit off of it right around the linkage and so far it’s been good.
Fantastic tips and video.Thank you! You might have a bend on your cable but I'd love to have that routing. My 63 falcon firewall hole is right behind the 302 and I have to roller coaster that cable ha... Good job sir!
You're doing very nice work. Good to see. I'm guessing that you have a cast iron spreadbore manifold with an adapter. Not optimum but will work (hopefully temporarily). Probably running it hot, too (heat crossover not blocked)? You really need a heat spacer under carb. I'm not familiar with that particular carburetor but I'm sure it is very similar to a Holley carb and Holleys work very poorly when the gas in the bowls are turning to vapor from heat. 👍
Yea it's currently on a spread bore adapter. We've got to address a rear main seal leak soon. I've got a couple people wanting to buy it, so if we pull it out it may be sold. We've got several options right now, we'll definitely make an update video if anything major happens.
The RyanStar bracket is from Amazon comes with the upper and lower anchor points for the throttle and kickdown cables. They both have some adjustment in them. The kickdown cable itself came from Summit. Both parts were $20 each when I purchased them.
got a quick question, so my throttle cable recently went out, replacing the carb and realized its shot, would this kit be able to work for me? Its a 72' C10 Chevy In6 (250) with a single barrel carb in it, honestly just need a throttle cable asap! edit: i can dm pictures on instagram if needed!

Hey I’m new to car stuff let alone doing it myself can you explain a little simpler for me?

When installing the cable. Install with the throttle wide open like when you hold the gas pedel to the floor.

That's awesome! Glad you were able to make it home safely. Thanks for watching!
Sir, you made a super helpful video. Thank you for your efforts, they certainly helped me.
Glad we could help, thanks for watching!

They do need a lil modification sometimes, but not bad for a budget option.
Great tip with the heat shrink on the throttle cable!
@@motor_citymuscle288 I appreciate it. Thanks for watching!

It seems to be holding up ok, so I guess it'll work for now. Thanks for watching!

Selling the motor? I'm sorry to hear. If I was close to you I would be interested in it myself. I need a 440 block right now.
The cable angle inside looks like it will fray against the tube that brings it into the cab..?? No??
No issues so far. I did lube the cable during installation though. Thanks for watching!
What bracket accessory do you have for your kickdown cable? Did it come with the ryanstar bracket?

Havw you had any rubbing issues where the jam nut is in the firewall? Mine rubs so bad its grinding through it
Not as of yet. I did spray some silicone lube in the sleeve before I put the cable in.
Does this work on motorcycles ?
I don't think this kit will work on a motorcycle.

This kit should work for what you need. If I remember correctly, it comes with 3 feet of cable. You just trim it to fit your application.
@@HardHeadGarage ok thank you boss i appreciate it!
Glad there's people like you that take the time to make these videos for the lazy a holes like myself that don't want to read instructions 🫡
Sometimes the instructions don't make sense or just don't come with these cheaper products. Thanks for watching!
Haha me too
