@@craigfin3222 Go ahead. Enlighten me. How is replacing a majority of all the trans fluid a BAD thing? If you want to sound smart you might as well make an effort to enlighten people (like me) on why it's a bad thing.
You have to first know when it's OK and when it is not. To the best of my knowledge, general rules for when NOT to perform fluid/filter service is (1) when your transmission is otherwise broken at all. Aside from some rough shifting, maybe, there should be no other problems. (2) if your fluid smells burnt or is deep black. (3)If you pull the pan and filter first and find significant metal, clutch material, or debris inside the filter. I actually did a partial fluid exchange on my 6L80E Silverado. Spent almost a year deciding if I wanted to or not, and ended up ordering a sampling kit and doing a fluid analysis on it first. I replaced the fluid I removed with genuine OEM fluid. I'd do it again only on my own vehicles now that I've done it once, but if I had a Ray and a BG machine somewhere local, I'd just bring it to them. 10 outta 10 recommend taking it to a quality shop where the mechanics know your platform and know how to confidently tell if your fluid is ripe or over ripe.
57th! I had this done to a Lincoln I owned around 2003-4? It did wonders for the transmission. Right after I had it done, I watched a video that said flushing and putting in new fluid could make the transmission slip, and have to rebuild. Luckily it ran great until I totaled it driving up from Denver about six months later. Broke my neck etc. great video as usual Ray. Roger in Pierre South Dakota

Since it is a complete fluid transfer it gets all of the old fluid out of the torque converter, something that doesn't happen if you just drop the pan and change the filter. Doing that though is still better than not doing regular maintenance at all.

Are you going to switch over to the Amsoil transmission flush or keep using the BG stuff?
I'm personally not a fan of transmission flushing. It can damage it.
Not a fan of fluid flush. Follow the recommended service schedule for your vehicle by the manufacturer. Check the fluids and change them and the filters when required and save your money...
Do you have a good recommendation of a mechanic of your caliber or better in the Los Angels, CA area? Have a 2006 dodge magnum srt8.she list power and dash lights came on, lost the gas pedal and she didn't turn off, I pulled over. Restarted her and she drove fine for 10 miles, and shut off, restart. She will run for 5mins and shut off or 30mins and shut off.
I replaced=
Ecu
Tcm
Camshaft sensor
Crank sensor
Still nothing.
The codes say she lost comms with ecu/ pcm
And lost comms with tcm. Any thing suggestions will help or a good honest mechanic. Happy Holidays.
@jeremymcclain891 Sounds like a ground issue. I can't believe you've changed all of these parts without a better diagnostic test on the wiring harness to make sure you aren't getting a current loss somewhere. SMA just went through the same issue.
Using amsoil transmission fuild
Did that one have a filter Ray?
I wonder how many people had a heart attack when you did this procedure 😂
if thats the 545rfe the transmission fluid doesn't cycle in park
Great you changed the fluid, but how about the FILTER,or maybe the factory put them in to last forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s the transmission equivalent of dialysis! 😂
What brand of machine do you use?
Is this a repeat?
Sorta noticed it started in progress😏
All that visible smoke has invisible carbon monoxide. Might want to do that out of doors.
does amsoil pay well ray?
It's an expansion tank.
Mosquitoes are dying by the millions. A new kind of fog machine. 😂
