I loop a soft round slip leash around my Poms' waists [rather than around their neck, to prevent trachea pressure] to both hold them on the table and keep them from sitting down. Works great. I wrap it around the crossbar overhead to adjust the length to keep the height just right. It's also handy to tuck their tail inside the loop to hold it out of my way while I work on their back end. I often use a push-button, self-cleaning, ball-ended metal brush for my weekly deep brushing. Much gentler with no possibility of poking their skin. Then I can finish off using the regular slicker brush on just the hair tips to fluff it out.
Looking great, a lot of work. You are an excellent groomer you are quick and so experienced. This Pom is so easy to groom it looks he is enjoying the grooming. I have a Pom as big as Domino I am going to follow your video and start grooming him myself. Thank you for sharing us your technique.
Dede Croy Yeah there is a lot of work in these breeds. I love fluffy babies but for that very reason I’m happy with my Staffys coat. I know I don’t have the time to properly care for anything else.
I have a Maltese Pomeranian. I'm so confused at whether to get him clipped or not. Every groomer I talk to acts surprised when I ask if he has an undercoat (which I'm pretty sure he has in some places). It makes me wonder if they just want my money. He gets so hot in the summer that I trim him with scissors myself being careful not to cut too close to his undercoat.
He couldn’t be any cuter, Poms are always smiling and seem to love being made over. My girl just beams with pride during and after grooming, she knows she’s all that!
My Poms hair is long and silky. Her tail hair is long and come up like a big fan!!!! I’ve only trimmed her paws, and her nails!!! This dogs hair looks frizzy, they told me never cut her hair cuz the hair grows like a Brillo pad!!!
Dede and David- thank you for showing the world that aggressive, elderly and “difficult” can be worked with. We are their voice, and you are doing a darn good job of representing them! God bless and best of luck with your growing business.
If my poms came from the groomers looking like this I would cry. The lines on his back are so crazy bad. This is what my pom looks like after I cut his hair myself. And are all groomers so rough?
penny mabley I noticed that too she was yanking him around and brushing him violently. It also looks like the leash could choke him since pomeranians have sensitive tracheas.
nope, not at all. i work as a groomer during my holidays all the time and i can gurantee u that all the groomers here doesn't brush our customer's dog so harshly... well... maybe becuz we use wire brush which can hurt the dog if brushed too harshly, the woman here used a brush with a rounded end so it should not hurt at all (even though it may look very harsh) also i was thought to brush upwards right after coming in contact with the root of the fur (w/o touching its skin) in a quick motion. So i was kinda surprised when she brushed the dog harder than what i've seen before O_o edit: wait nvm, i went to her shop and found the brush she was using to not have a rounded tip so yes, it is wire... that could've hurt... but sometimes when a dog's fur is too thick it shouldn't be able to reach its skin(?) um... i'm pretty sure she has her own ways since speed is pretty important
@@amberjepsen7907 actually the rope thing is pretty normal in the grooming industry. I can gurantee u that the dog is not harmed in any way, its just a way for us groomers to keep the dog standing perfectly still (yes, little movements can ruin the whole round cut) If the dog is choking, it'll show signs like coughing, eyes turning red etc. But i can kinda agree that the cut she gave was a lil... Rushed?
@@amberjepsen7907 also if a dog tries to bite during grooming, it'll most likely be returned to its owner before you start to trim its fur. This grooming process is actually kinda normal but we just hold its head and butt up high, some dogs can even sleep with the rope still on its neck😅
Although the leash on the neck is considered normal for groomers, it probably shouldn’t be. For small dogs like poms and papillons the neck is so delicate and they can easily injure themselves from tugging. And other dogs have even been known to hang themselves if the groomer is not attentive.
I have had 4 Poms so far one after the other, and all of them had tails that went over their backs, but Domino's tail just sort of fell flat and hung down when he was being groomed. After that the tail went up a bit when wagging, but it looked heavy.
What a cute Pomeranian! Was probably slightly aggressive when it was scared first time it came in.. since you did so well with him all the time.. he's not scared anymore. Great JOb
Great job! I just got a Pom right after Thanksgiving. Shes so sweet and lwill be doing all her grooming. Thanks for sharing your video! You are very good at your profession!!♥️
That popping knees you’re talking about is called Luxor Patella. In my area around $1600 a knee to fix. The knee cap does in fact pop off or rather sideways. Painful, I was able to improve it and reduce the pain with Tumeric cookies. Dogs love em.
Oh I also like the instrument you use to keep them standing and I'm looking forward to purchasing one. Thanks for the videos ... I'm like so excited because you said she lives in Dallas as well. I'm like I will drive that far as well just so you can groom my dog. Im already excited lol. I want to grow his hair long and yes I brush him everyday now because of your videos
Aaawww I was hoping you would show the brushing in bath. Also Dede thank you for sharing your knowledge. My brushing/grooming skills have really improved!! He is loving the attention .... and you holding his boy bits!hehehe
Hi Dede, I love to watch your videos and see all the doggies. I have a suggestion about your doggie upstand. What if you put rubber on the foot spaces so their paws don't slip off so easily like Dominoes did? Just a suggestion. Such a beautiful dog! Great work! Wish i had known some of this when i had my dogs. Thank you for serving for our country! Blessings!
Reflexology52 Welsh Our family just got a puppy Maltese he is 6 months now named snoopy and I found you here and love watching all your vídeos it teaches me so much!!!! Great job!!!!
When I groom my own dog it reminds why I cannot be a professional dog groomer. This poor little dog would've been bald. I just keep cutting to even things up and never know when I'm finished. 😕
I love this video because I have a little teeny dog that is Pomeranian and Chihuahua but he's mostly Pomeranian because of all the Hair he has and I have had a hard time trimming his hair because he's one of those dogs that just doesn't like to be messed with if you know what I mean. It's summer time now and his hair is all grown out and it's thick and full and it's time for a trim so thanks for your tips. If possible could you recommend me the best dog shears to use or shearing scissors? Thanks 👍
looks like david is a little camera shy lol. As much as i love shave down videos (they're my fave bc i learn a ton from them, ty for sharing your knowledge!) it is a treat to see you do maintance grooms!
Hey Dede have you ever tried the groomers helper it’s fantastic for aggressive dogs it stops them from being able to spin around and bite you and it’s also great for dogs that like to run around the table. Love your videos there awesome ☺️
Looking for the link to the tools you are using. :) I love my Pom Poms, but I could use a good pair of shears, comb and that brush looks comfortable not odd to hold in your hand.
I love how in depth & detailed you are! I'm a fellow perfectionist so I really appreciate how hard you work on these lovely fur balls ^_^ I also REALLY REEAALLLY would love it if you did a Corgi grooming! I have one named Aloo (it means "potato" hehe) and I'd love some pointers on how to properly care for his coat!
Ariba Itrat I don’t have any corgi clients. They usually don’t come in very often. Watch the husky video and treat coat exact. Let me know if you need the tools. I have a kit ready. Found in our online store on our website www.myfavoritegroomer.com
Where do i find a muzzle meant for this breed? This one looks very humane but serves its purpose. I have houdini who CAN slip out of a step in vest??? It's certainly on correctly and snugly, he's just too smart for his own good!
One of my Chihuahua/ Pomeranian mix dogs looks just like him but he’s all black with the white chest. I’ll be ordering from you over the next few months. I so appreciate your videos.
I have a mini pomeranian, he weighs 7 lbs and 8 lbs is his expected max. He will be a year in May. He doesn't mind grooming and is a service dog. What would you recommend for his grooming tools. I had a baby comb which was just right for him but does not hold up for his coat. He completed the ugly puppy faze and we are now dealing with his adult coat. His father had a coat like Domino and mother had a sleeker coat that looks like she has pin curls. He is a heavy coat but more like Dominoes coat

Yet I had gotten her done before and she looked fluffy. Someone told me it was the wrong time of year
Do u ever groom tibetsn terriers? I shave mine short in the summer as my mum just lets his hair grow and doesnt brush him so its not fair on him so im the one who cares for him shaves him and cleans him and helps him out x

Hey Dede, I had to check out what was going on once I saw the word “Pomeranian “. They are my kind of dog and this one is beautiful. I haven’t seen very many colored like this one.
This is a living creature in need of kind words, reassurance, and some treats! The woman was moving too quickly, stated she was tired, and hungry, and all this impatience was easily conveyed to the dog. And that contraption she shoved under him was not padded. Ouch. This should be as pleasant an encounter as possible. That clearly was not the goal. The goal here was get this damn dog out as soon as possible so I can eat and put my feet up. I wouldn’t want her working on me. I see far too many of these disturbing videos. She put this video out. She has to be prepared for all and any comments.
Forgot to say my dog hates baths and hates being groomed i always make sure im really gentle and that is baths arent to hot or not too cold but he just hates it do you know why this could be xxx

A most beautiful color pattern, my gosh!!! I love your work De De!!!!

You should use scissors instead of shaver

Just watching u care for that Pomeranian warms my ❤. My pom passed 9.10.16. And now im ready to get another fur baby. Peace and more. Blessings
Domino is by far the cutest pup I’ve ever seen. His face looks like he could be in Kiss lol!!!!
omg, hes a walking poof lol 💕 too cute
Watching you work is so cool! I am fascinated by how fast and how efficiently your hands move

Merci you got it
I loved the "unveiling" at the end 😄
I came across your videos somehow and have been watching them for a few days now. You are so informative. I have learned a lot. Keep up the good work.

DonniDeVille maybe it's because he's nervous and covering himself. Like many dog's do, even ones who's tail is up usually!
I was wondering that also
I am his Mom, his tail was always up at home. Most Poms don’t like brushing, blow dryers or being away from their people!
What a cute Pomeranian! Was probably slightly aggressive when it was scared first time it came in.. since you did so well with him all the time.. he's not scared anymore. Great JOb

I can't believe how fluffy he is!!!
I’m sorry I missed your RUclips on your sale on the stand is it still going on and how much thank you
Made in USA www.dogupstand.com/
Dede!!! Thank you so much for the shout-out !!!.. I feel special now lol 😆 and how cute is domino is almost as cute is my baby boy Osito Bonito🐕
Thank you for being one of my top shoppers. Your support means so much to me

You make things look so easy! Great work, I love Poms ♥️
@My Favorite Groomer David you do an excellent job videoing these grooming sessions. Keep up the fantabulous work! 👍🏼
Thank you very much!
i just died because of the cuteness.
Domino is a good boy! Thank you so much for this video. I have 3 poms and am going to give it a shot!
Pomeranians are the best❤️❤️💕🥰!

Make sure to Patent it if you haven't already

Beautiful dog. I love the idea of the stand. Mine wants to lay down as I don't have a way to tie her head up. Will have to think that through
What was the leave in conditioner you were referring to? My pom gets all matted. Impossible to brush him out.
I'm wondering the same! I'm having trouble finding it on the site 😐..
what is the name of the "kit" that you spoke about regarding the good 'kit' that is needed for grooming of a pomeranian(brush, comb, spray etc)
How come you don’t use blending sheers on poofy dogs? Seems like you would get a smoother finish without loosing the fluffiness.
I have one of those spray bottles, great for misting plants too👍🌿

Cathie from Oz you can’t groom the body of the dog with that thing.
Dede Croy why it only attaches to the grooming loop from the grooming arm there is nothing covering the body of the dog ☺️
Cathie from Oz in that case she would be putting it on all her animals since they are all "aggresive"
Looking for the link to the tools you are using. :) I love my Pom Poms, but I could use a good pair of shears, comb and that brush looks comfortable not odd to hold in your hand.

How car l order stuff from you…. Brushes, dangling spray and combs

Where is your business located. I'm looking for a good groomer and I like you.
My Poms hair is not that full anymore...she lost so much hair this spring....but she just turned 1
That is the cutest name for him. I love it
I have two Poms and I really wanna order the brush you are using on Domino! Can you tell me if it is the small or large brush? Im assuming small, but I know some "small" brushes can be TINY in the pet stores. haha Thank you!!
PS. Domino is such a gorgeous pup and looks just like my boy Bentley who is also a Black and White Parti, and I have a female named Lexus who is blue merle colored!
Watching from Brazil. Very good job! Congratulations and success.
I had a beautiful golden Pom x but with the pom coat and my groomer cut her down with cutters and it took more than 2 years for her coat to come back, it looked thin and ratty and her under coat could be seen through scatty regrowth. I have a Pom-a-peek and I’m wondering if the way I should groom him to? Or if it would be different in any way.

Another dog with a full coat! Awesome!
Where can I buy that dog up stand ?Nevermind you just answered lol live your videos :)You are an expert at your profession
such a well behaved pup, it must be so nice to be able to groom a nice dog when you get so used to grooming troublemakers!
Indigo Ice it is!!
Indigo Ice but he came to me Aggressive.
He absolutely loved every second of that 😍
Gdi how cute is that face? Good job with him, Dee!
Why is it recommended to use a slicker on poms? It definitely doesn't get down to the base of the skin as well as a rake will.
Really thinking of getting a pom, just wondering do they need monthly grooming?
Daily
What a wonderful dog!
Where can I get your leave in conditioning and the stand
Aweee domino is such a good boyyyy
Alright! A POMERANIAN!!!! STRIKINGLY HANDSOME!!!! :) ✨✨✨✨
Lovin' the mask and what a sweet handsome boy! After a busy and hungry day, Dede I'm sure it's nice to know to have a good groom and the dog's trust.
