Great looking rig. Sorry but I can't help myself, I used to be an engineer...it's modulator. Now that I got that off of my chest, lol, it's really impressive to see how kayaking has gone from DIY to overpriced, and back to DIY. I'll take an Outlaw, or a Pelican with a homemade Minn Kota anyday, over a 3k yak with another 2.5k for a crap Torquedo with a 1/4" shaft. Patent that steering box, brother!
Good job my friend! That's some ingenuity right there!!! After spending 9 hours on the water last weekend in my 106 PDL, I'm seriously considering adding a motor for getting to and from spots.
I love the input but would prefer to see the working mechanisms at a closer view. Some people are great at doing these type things but i need to see some of this at a closer perspective. Thank you for sharing. You have the potential to doing so many cool things with your kayak.
Nice work and the steering box is great idea. You will increase your turning radius of the kayak if you rotate the NV steering arm 180 degrees so the at the point is facing forward. It is mounted backwards.
Have a similar build and love your idea to steer and might try it .ive got a pole attached from the motor to a trolling motor extender handle mounted verticly that pivots like a stick shift and retracts when i lift the motor and this just seems more interesting. Ran all my wires and cords straight into the hull and they pop up where needed and cant recommend that enough .amazon had some cheap connectors that are glued into the kayak so you can just drop in the motor and battery at different ends and plug them in right there and plug the pwm in under the seat and they're all wired together internally and out of the way .wish i had gotten your coloe to match my jeep but those are a hard find lol
Great idea! I have a similar set up on my OT 106. I steer using the kayaks rudder (motor locked in position). I might add your steering idea in I use the kayak without the pedal drive.
@@AllenJohnson-wm1fc yes sir I used a short ram mount arm and two ram balls that screw to the kayak and one to the PWM. I will try and get you a picture soon. I’m at work for the next three days. I’m a paramedic.

I will do a more in depth video this coming week and break down each step. I’m going to be building one for a new kayak I’m putting together.

I like your steering system. Simple and functional.
It’s simplistic but it works very well

Do you have a better picture and description of how your Pmw is mounted to your kayak?

👍
Your ideas are very smart. I like how you came up with them to keep the storage space clean. I was just wondering where do you keep your battery at?
I built a custom battery box that goes underneath my seat. I’ll be glad to see the video of it and show you how it works.
@@Video-Bass-fishing is that this black box under the seat in the seat riser video?
Yes sir that’s it

I’ll get those for you if you’ll email me at greenfishnnation@gmail.com
Do you have the links for the items. Don’t see it anywhere. Am not sure exactly what is needed for the inner workings of the steering box.

@@Video-Bass-fishing Thanks I saw those but didnt see a good way to attatch them and they seem kinda pricy for as many as you used.

I'm not getting the measurements for the inner working.
I when to Lowe's to get the parts but the way I understood on the measurement it would not fit in the box
