You just gotta Loooove the way it starts all being senseless machine noice and slowly, unnoticedly, slips into awesome rythm and music, but without ever ceising to be noisy! Just damn brilliant.
THIS. In my Top Ten Of all time favorite album's. Totally a direction I wish they had followed more.. but really I am not one to complain. Listen to it often.
Thanks so much for posting this. Have recently been discovering early Kraftwerk and also some Neu!. Gives me odd cravings to go back to Germany for a while. Can't explain why, it just does.
I imagine this had something to do with Rother & Dinger leaving? Ralf probably had a fit when he got back and heard what they'd been up to while he was away! Awesome tune.
Pop-oriented electronic music, that is. On the other side of the spectrum are such luminaries as Pierre Schaffer, Pierre Henry, Morton Subotnick, Charles Wuorinen, and their ilk. Peace.
I kind of liken this to Picasso's Rose period before he went Cubist. Both a demonstration of more traditional acumen before defining a totally new form of expression of their own.
Shout-out to my friend Kevin Guerrero for introducing me to this song back in high school, even though I was the one who introduced him to Kraftwerk 😆 He put me on the path to being the Neu! fan I am today even if he doesn't know it.
The guitar work is already so grunge and heavy-like, it resembles (or precedes?) Neil Young. I once heard that Young was influenced by Kraftwerk, and he made an electronic LP himself too (much later).
I really like this sound. Too bad they didn’t do whole album, or some other band that would be in similar style, only I can think of is Chrome, but that’s more post-punk.
Can is so inspiring, man. You know what was one of the trippiest experiences of my life? I was skateboarding with Ege Bamyasi on my...er..I think that was still a CD walkman..anyways. Suddenly Damo Suzuki is standing right before me (and yes, I am absolutely 100% sure it was him, plus it was in Bonn, which fits). I rolled past him in slow motion, mouth open. It would have been so cool to stop and simply give him the earphones to show him how much his music is still appreciated in this Millenium.
It sounds like early black sabbath as the style of rock/metal KW are performing is "stoner rock", the metal style which black sabbath pioneered. If you dig; Kyuss and Fu Manchu are other good examples of this style of rock/metal.
by listening that one i can really now say that early kraftwerk was an undisputed influence to the gods of stoner rock KYUSS, and it was nearly 20 years before they showed up.....Anyway, a fantastic tune!! And btw Kraftwerk was also awesome during the electronic era, not only with this song!
This would be fucking amazing to hear as the soundtrack to a movie scene with two black leather motor cycle gangs fighting each other with switch blades, crowbars and switch blades. Somebody out there making a movie like that, please include this!
gigdrasy - the phrase was used by Williams Burroughs in his book The Soft Machine in 1962 - it was already a scientific term though. Steppenwolf (A proto metal group from the 60s) used the phrase "heavy metal thunder" in their song Born To Be Wild in 1968. It was "in the air" as they say...
"Pre - Neu! days and this track gives a taster of what was to come from Neu! in the future." How come more of Neu's tracks don't sound anything like this?
been trying to find the solo one online cant find it anymore. used to on tube years ago. all I can find is the Bremen Radio version. There's a more shorter version, fine tuned from the studio
Comment early was about 'Vom Himmel Hoch'. Yes, it's definitely tune from kraftwerk1 or kraftwerk2, played live and with more guitar (or in more 'krautrock' way). There is really catchy synth-noise intro in this song, very easy to identify..
I don't think your ready for this but your kids are going to love it
Robots gathered in their masses.....
Just like Dummies at showroom masses...
Brilliant remark!
…Just like androids in dark glasses!”
there exists a parallel universe in which kraftwerk never invented techno but invented stoner metal instead
They invented all modern “indie” music
@@merlhemlok007 what lmao
LOL!!!
@@merlhemlok007saying that makes it sound like mac demarco playing a tubon keytar and synthesizers
Profético!
...and to think there is actually only one guitar. The other sound is Florian playing a friggin' flute!
Germany's response to Black Sabbath's "Iron Man"
Maxwell M. yap
+João Paulo Calvet ya, ya. Ya,ya,ya,ya.
+AI Grey Hivemind No, no. No,no,no,no.
Why, was I not right or, right, rather- the first time?
+Maxwell M. Why not?
Wow, that was... unexpected. As a big fan of Sabbath, I m astonished that Kraftwerk had this kind of sound back in 70s
You just gotta Loooove the way it starts all being senseless machine noice and slowly, unnoticedly, slips into awesome rythm and music, but without ever ceising to be noisy! Just damn brilliant.
The first couple of minutes is what it will sound like when the machines come for us all.
I was floored when I first heard this. Stoner rock has been around longer than I thought
Then, they went on to pioneer electronic music
How can you know that stoner rock is a genre and not know that Black Sabbath is a thing?
These early Kraftwerk sounds are just insane! I love it.
The best period, sadly pretty unknown and scarcely recorded.
Incredible sound. And I found the album Ralf und Florian at a flea market. Bought it directly! Barely played... No wonder lol
@@johnssonsmixed8303 No wonder? It's Kraftwerk's best record.
Ananas Symphonie is from it and i love it
My favorite track by Kraftwerk!
THIS. In my Top Ten Of all time favorite album's.
Totally a direction I wish they had followed more.. but really I am not one to complain. Listen to it often.
That's Kraut Rock at it's best.
Ive never listened to Kraftwerk since now. I think I will never listen to something other for the next few days. This group really got me
+Mike Ze its addictive for sure! ;) good to know that Kraftwerk got a new fan
They really got me in 1982. I knew, then, I had catching up to do. It's been a great 36-year ride.
Find the band Neu! The guitarist and drummer formed Neu after leaving Kraftwerk, and a lot of their material is in this style.
MICHAEL ROTHER is a Genius
how good is this for 1971 the more you listen the more you like.awesome
"Heavy Metal Kids" became something completely different some years later.
OMFG! What a gem! Im from Bremen and this blows my Mind!
LOVE IT!! Thank you for uploading this.🖤🖤
Thanks so much for posting this. Have recently been discovering early Kraftwerk and also some Neu!. Gives me odd cravings to go back to Germany for a while. Can't explain why, it just does.
... a cross between NEU and early Sabbath!!!! KYUSS too!!!!
UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!
This rocks harder than doors!!!!
THANK YOU for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ultra-heavy for 2021!!!
the picture in the video shows the electric power station (kraftwerk) of volkswagen in wolfsburg.
Great stuff! Went and saw these guys live. They're just as good now as they were all the way back then. They still fit into their tron suits too.
Wow! I have never heard Kraftwerk like that before. Amazing "guitar" sound.
proto-metal riffs (circa 1968), so to speak. i love this rare Kraftwerk recording. good thing you noticed it. :)
1971
Thank you for giving us access to such a wonderful Kraftwerk rarity. Once again their position as pioneering wunderkinds of electronica is confirmed.
ICH LIEBE ES! They were so completely different in the early days!
Magnifico, excelente, muchas gracias por su aporte musical. un saludo desde bogota colombia, suerte.
I am expecting it to go "I AM IRONMAN!" as the opening and the cords sound VERY much like Black Sabbath's tune.
ozzy should have went to kraftwerk when he was canned by black sabbath and said were no gonna be called kraft sabbath
Thanks we were looking for this the other day but didn't remember the title, hilarious and awesome
*Kraftsabbath!!!*
Echte Klasse der Anfangsära dieser erfolgreichen Elektropoppgruppe.
Danke für die Verteilung des Stückes !
The best rock in the seventies was made in Germany. Can, Kraftwerk, neu...
Journalist: so what drugs do you take?
Kraftwerk: a mix of lsd, diesel and plutonium.
I was 2. I'm glad I am alive when a song like this exists.
I never herad this people before and I got amazed!! Tx for hooked it.
I imagine this had something to do with Rother & Dinger leaving?
Ralf probably had a fit when he got back and heard what they'd been up to while he was away!
Awesome tune.
i wish i could get a guitar tone that sick ugh
I love this tune. Awesome.
Pop-oriented electronic music, that is. On the other side of the spectrum are such luminaries as Pierre Schaffer, Pierre Henry, Morton Subotnick, Charles Wuorinen, and their ilk. Peace.
i play this for my neighbour. he has no choice in the matter.
Me too and him neither
Lucky neighbour!
Taran Burns - job well done!
je ne connaissais pas ce morceau, superbe !
I kind of liken this to Picasso's Rose period before he went Cubist. Both a demonstration of more traditional acumen before defining a totally new form of expression of their own.
I just re-opened my browser after it closed itself unexpectedly, and this started playing over the "Zorba the Greek" song. What. A. Trip.
Schwer zu glauben, dass diese Musik ist von Kraftwerk! Danke fürs Hochladen!
Shout-out to my friend Kevin Guerrero for introducing me to this song back in high school, even though I was the one who introduced him to Kraftwerk 😆 He put me on the path to being the Neu! fan I am today even if he doesn't know it.
They did, i have a live album by them (Kraftwerk) from about this time, it is full on heavy rock
The guitar work is already so grunge and heavy-like, it resembles (or precedes?) Neil Young. I once heard that Young was influenced by Kraftwerk, and he made an electronic LP himself too (much later).
amazing stuff. been listening to Kraftwerk 4 a while, but didn't know about this stuff or thier relation to Neu!
I really like this sound. Too bad they didn’t do whole album, or some other band that would be in similar style, only I can think of is Chrome, but that’s more post-punk.
It was the 70s man! We did all kinds o crazy things! 😆
Music Hall of Fame Classic
Wow!!!
Das beste, was ich bis jetzt aus derr Frühzeit gehört hab.
Not what I was expecting at all! Not being a Kraftwerk aficionado I wasn't really aware of this phase of the bands music.
Frickin' amazing!!!!
This song might very well be the point where electronic music splits from rock music. The Missing Link, if you will.
Can is so inspiring, man. You know what was one of the trippiest experiences of my life? I was skateboarding with Ege Bamyasi on my...er..I think that was still a CD walkman..anyways. And also the Beatles were such an astonishing band, lol!
Bach was such a great composer, duude!
It sounds like early black sabbath as the style of rock/metal KW are performing is "stoner rock", the metal style which black sabbath pioneered.

heavy metal was started by black sabbath in 1969 in my opinion. Can't find anything older than that with the real "sound" of heavy metal.
this shows you that a Krautrock/Techno band can kick ass!
Pure genuine.

:)
Those harmonic noises around 2:50 remind me a lot of 90's KYUSS
Have you not heard of Black Sabbath?
This is a homage to them.
heavy kraut rock metallica!!
Fantastic, I didn't have any idea of this old face of Kraftwerk, - They participated of the begining of Heavy Metal.
Pas très connu comme titre mais c'est génial et ça fait du bien....
Insane !!!
man... this is amazing, hail them
Yeah its war of Pigs// Waiting for a Ozzy voice)
very good...............................................................................
This would be fucking amazing to hear as the soundtrack to a movie scene with two black leather motor cycle gangs fighting each other with switch blades, crowbars and switch blades. Somebody out there making a movie like that, please include this!
fantastic!!!
Kraftwerk's early stuff is just as interesting as their later music.
hell yeah i grew up with these guys and never heard this
I love you for uploading this.
photo on the cover by Heinrich Heidersberger (1906-2006). it's the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg. taken in 1971.
gigdrasy - the phrase was used by Williams Burroughs in his book The Soft Machine in 1962 - it was already a scientific term though. Steppenwolf (A proto metal group from the 60s) used the phrase "heavy metal thunder" in their song Born To Be Wild in 1968. It was "in the air" as they say...
early stoner rock...sounds great
Unglaubliche Atmosphäre! Verdammt geil !!
Awesome, thanks!!
"Pre - Neu! days and this track gives a taster of what was to come from Neu! in the future."
How come more of Neu's tracks don't sound anything like this?
The distorted sound is actually a flute with bass guitar and drums. Who'd have thought!
In my dreams I hear Kraftwerk & LedZeppelin jam session
been trying to find the solo one online cant find it anymore. used to on tube years ago. all I can find is the Bremen Radio version. There's a more shorter version, fine tuned from the studio
Awesome song! I wonder what they used to get that angry snarling sound at the beginning.
ooh the cover is supposed to zoom in. i thought i was high from the sound xD
I'm the operator with my Pocket calculator!
Uber ! love early Kraftwerk
stonerific!
4:10 i guess this is where hallogallo comes from :D
This rules. I bet a lot of doom metal is inspired by this stuff.
Now thats what I call some Heavy Stuff!! (no capitalism)
@Gavin B. Amen. And everyone shall switch to DVORAK keyboards
awesome stuff new to me...thx for post
@TheWhiteShark100
Yes, there's a five song bootleg called "K4 (Bremen Radio, 1971)".
Une telle modernité !!!!
Comment early was about 'Vom Himmel Hoch'.
Yes, it's definitely tune from kraftwerk1 or kraftwerk2,
played live and with more guitar (or in more 'krautrock' way). There is really catchy synth-noise intro in this song, very easy to identify..
DAMN! That was awesome!
Holy Shit! This is fucking heavy for 1971!
@bauhaus85 well, thanks! I love it and was wondering...
When the guitar starts it sounds like Black Sabbath!
