You are so creative Nick!! It’s never about how tech people are and how well they understand the software and its tools. It’s also about how to use this knowledge to make creative deigns 👍 again very well done! And of course you are great in teaching and passing your knowledge. Thanks again for your generosity to share this with the world.
I feel like rather than select the nodes and count by how many steps you move them up and down, it's better to create a rectangle, center it vertically relative to the C, adjust its size to cover up the parts of the C you want to remove, and then use the difference path operation. It sounds more complicated but I feel like it's a more natural way of doing it, less error prone, and probably takes less time. Another option is to enable the transformation handles on the node tool, although that one is not as reliable because the side handles will not show up if the nodes are too close, so you get only the corner ones. (Edit: I guess in this case adding a vertical guide solves the issue as it allows you to scale only vertically even with a corner handle.)
I think that first option would be more steps but you're right about the transformation handles. That would've been the best approach. You would just have to make sure you're grabbing the handles in the center and holding Shift while moving them so that it doesn't scale them and distort the letter.
I had to use the path effect "offset" because "outset" just created a large "blob" version of my letters. Don't know what went wrong but it worked nonetheless that way.
good tutorial. This going to be a series? title seemed abit vague until ya watch it haha, but be interesting what else or ideas you have for more initial logos
No need to count 15 steps. You need to select the nodes, press "Show Transformation Handles for Selected Nodes" and move them symmetrically while holding "Shift"...
I love your tutorials. Very easy to understand but i think i missed a settings, first i can't find custom on my inkscape and when i turn on the shape builder, i didn't have the double lines at the edge. please help
Great video l rly liked the tutorial. l just have 1 question, l dont know which version of inkscape l have but l cant find ,,shape builder" option. Can you help me find it?
Any videos of how to make words like my name into a svg so I can cut it out on wood for laser? I tried to use Christmas font on Inkscape but im new and didn’t instant how
Never thought of an exact use for the shape builder but this is perfect!
What a great way to overlap the letters. I love this kind of logos. Congratulations, Nick! Great tutorial as always.
Incredible tutorial. Now I know the purpose and how to use the Offset function. Thanks Nick
Wonderful tutorial. I'm a beginner who really finds all of them useful. You are a fantastic teacher!
This is a great video to remind me of the new workflow possibilities with the shape builder tool. 👌
Awesome thanks for designing my logo! 🤣
Been struggling to wrap my head around the boolean stuff: this shape builder tool is just what I needed to play around with! Thanks!
2:25, why not use transform tool for nodes as well.
Also offset can be used as path effect to apply in non-destructive manner
YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER, THANK YOU SO MUCH

Great Video about a great FOSS!!!

fabulous
Wow!
I miss the old way of splitting text. Object to path, ungroup and then combine. Now this is setting me back. I am about to download the old version.
Some fonts can’t split easy no more.
Unless there is a work around.
Try spacing the letters apart before converting to a path

Very clever, good job!
Are there any apps that can do this automatically for you that gives you options of the overlapping logos to choose from?
Thanks
the best!
