I'm 53 yrs old. I was 12 at the time of this concert. Is it wrong for a grown man to shed some tears of joy at the beginning of this video? Man nobody made an impact on me like KISS did in the 70's. I mean just seeing their image on the cover of a new magazine made me lose my mind! To this day I still cherish my KISS Collectables!
Hey man im 53 too saw kiss in 77 and 79 84 with accept and 3 times on the reunion tour 96 97 we were in the 9th row and on the 96 show in dc 2nd nite and when they went up on their hydraulic platforms at the end gene saw me going nuts pointed at me and put his thumb up and it sounds silly but it was like him validating me being a fan since i was 9 yrs old in 75 when i first discovered them
I’m glad I’m not the only one who got a little emotional watching this. KISS has been the source of so much happiness and excitement in my life throughout the years... it would be impossible for me to overstate it.
I agree with you all . Been a fan since 75 . I've been lucky I've got to meet them on numerous occasions backstage and me and my son have had our pics made with them . Been on Kiss Kruises with them .
I saw them twice on this tour, August in San Diego and November in Oklahoma City. Impossible to explain to today's internet generation what a mind-blowing spectacle a Kiss show was back then.
I agree, but realize there was a guy back in the good old days holding up an 8mm camera to record the show and that footage was uploaded to youtube where we're all watching it now :)
Thankfully that technology didn't exist. I had to wait 2 weeks to get my Kodak 110 film developed. Using a flash was a good way to have your camera confiscated. Some kids today know exactly what they missed out on.
My first concert was two weeks after this show in Atlanta.... I was 6. My aunt had to go and took me. She had no idea this would introduce me to rock. Thank you aunt Alice!

I was at KISS one month before in San Antonio Thanksgiving. I was 12 and the most stoked kid in Texas! But I can tell by this video KISS was even more stoked back home at the Garden. Good for you New York! Don't think for a second we don't love you guys!

I was there!! I was ten years old and it was my very first concert. My old man took me. I must have unknowingly been pretty close to the guy who filmed this as its the exact angle I saw the show from. Will never forget, when Gene went up on that rising platform and spit up the blood he pointed into the audience. And I swear to this very day he was pointing right at me! It actually scared the shit out of me!! Haha.

I was 13 years old me and my buddy took the train from Woodbridge New Jersey into Madison Square Garden Penn station. We almost missed the last train out at 1:00 a.m. but we made it LOL
Hearing the crowd noises and things they're saying are the most priceless part of all these "lost" concert home movies. See also the "lost" Roosevelt Stadium show in '76, the crowd talking is LOUD and it's great. KISS was exhilarating, electrifying, and orgasmic for kids back in those days.
Hearing the sounds of teenagers losing their minds and having the time of their life always makes this kind of footage extra priceless. KISS hasn't recreated this power and magic on a single one of their reunion tours/cash grabs of the last 25 years.
Thank you so much for this gem, not only do they look and sound fantastic, but this period reminds us of when they were cutting edge and doing things that no other heavy rock band did. SHOW!!!
That excited kid brought me right back to 1976 when I first saw them at 13 years old. Hartford Civic Center, Connecticut. Seeing and hearing something like this at a young age really can have an affect on your life. For the better, of course!!

Sure as heck woulda been the way I'd felt if I could've seen them on that tour, they actually came to my small town on that tour, but my parents said I was too young yet, but they let me go years later when they came back on the Creatures tour, and it was on my birthday, no less :)

I was lucky enough to see Kiss at the first of their three LA Forum nights in August 1977. Can you imagine how exciting it was for a kid of 14 from England to turn up at a massive venue like The Forum(we had nothing like it in England then!), see people smoking dope in the car park, going in, seeing these massive speakers hanging from the ceiling, then seeing Kiss in their prime? Remember the night like it was yesterday.
Man that brings back memories! That is about where I was sitting in the L.A. Forum ! It seems like this was how long the concert was in real time! Very cool!
Being that the 79 stage was my first time seeing Kiss, I always wondered if the 77 show was as cool as the Alive II inside cover. You cant tell from all the proshots because the lighting is too perfect, this is how it would have really looked. The Love Gun stage was the one to see, I am now convinced after seeing it from the angle I first saw Kiss !

Took the Long Island Rail Road to MSG (Penn Station). Ticket was $7.50, silver with black writing, big KISS.

They toured 42 out o f the 52 weeks that year AND won an award and/or were recognised for playing to more people than any other band in 1977 !🤩 The energy required to do this day after day would be phenomenal 😲. No wonder Peter and Ace turned to alcohol and drugs at the t ime. Most of them have had knee and hip replacements due to their high heeled boots a nd extensive touring. Lol and Ouch.
Ros Radley, THE undisputed king of KISS photo research helped us identify the venue as Madison Square Garden, by the drapes hanging on the side of the stage, which were only used at the MSG gigs. You can see the drapes during God of Thunder when the fireball effect takes place. Also, the audio from the other 2 nights (12-14 and 12-16), which we have, do not match at all. Not even close.

This is the only video (audio) I've seen where the sound concussions 0:13. actually sound like it did at the show back then. You can really feel it. :)

Back when you bought your $9.00 ticket from the record store (which you thought was a fortune)....drive to the collisium, walk in unmolested (no metal detectors and body cavity searches), buy your T-Shirt and picture program booklet which you spent 3 months saving for....grab some snacks, take your girl by the hand and go sit down and enjoy some classic rock 'n roll!! I miss the innocence of the 1970's....
Don't forget the Chruch Organizers with their bull horns telling everyone that if they enter that Coliseum, they're betraying Jesus Christ and expect their souls tormented in Hell for all eternity. Well, that's what it was here in Corpus Christi Texas back in the day. See in Hell my friend;)

my first concert was the show the day before, Michael Des Barres' band DETECTIVE opened the first night, Billy Squier's band PIPER opened the 2 other nights.
lOTS OF GREAT BANDS BACK THEN. zEPPELIN, aEROSMITH , THE LIST GOES ON & ON. THERES NONE OF THEM ID WANNA SEE MORE THAN KISS. THE LOVE GUN TOUR, I CANT EVEN IMAGINE PEOPLE IN THE FRONT. THE EXCITEMENT WOULD BE EUPHORIC & OVERWHEALMING, BECAUSE THIS WAS NEXT LEVEL STUFF.

Vinylman65 I’m 49. I didn’t see them until the ‘96 reunion - I cried when they came on stage. Still got my dolls, cards, and lunchbox!

Heck im 51 and went to the dynasty tour.Kiss was so energetic and hungry back in the 70s.I love kiss and will always treasure the original band.👍❤

I wasn’t around in 77 but they sure recreated for me as a 14 year old in 04 and a 19 year old on the Sonic Boom tour

Saw em on the Rock and Roll over tour in Hartford rihht brfore thier first MSG appearance. This was Feb 77. KISS at thier peak.

@@kolvera3228 yeah man i remember seeing the thrash band believer from Hershey pa they were a christian thrash band and they're were bible dicks handing out jesus pamphlets saying dont go in there it was a church in glen burnie md i tried to tell these idiots they are christians and they said they were not presenting the. Message the right way i told em they were a bunch of idiots and enjoyed and headbanged through the whole set standing in the pews lol

I was at the show the next night. I still have the stub. Wow prices were so much less. They were at their best then compared to today.

believe it or not, there are some people who don't know what they have. we've been told stories of original 8mms being sold at garage sales, with the owners not understanding the value or significance... it happens.

Michael Des Barres' band DETECTIVE opened the first night, Billy Squier's band PIPER opened the 2 other nights.
lOTS OF GREAT BANDS BACK THEN. zEPPELIN, aEROSMITH , THE LIST GOES ON & ON. THERES NONE OF THEM ID WANNA SEE MORE THAN KISS. THE LOVE GUN TOUR, I CANT EVEN IMAGINE PEOPLE IN THE FRONT. THE EXCITEMENT WOULD BE EUPHORIC & OVERWHEALMING, BECAUSE THIS WAS NEXT LEVEL STUFF.
