Most people in the comments can't even afford a 220i, yet pretend the 230i is a bad car.... Honestly, it is better than the M240i for road use, you don't lose much accelaration, especially in the 0-30 range, top speeds are the same, yet you get much lower weight, all removed from the front axis.... So the 230i is more agile and drift happy. More economical in consumables and fuel too....

i agree, drove the 240i and the M2, and i have the 230i for about a month, this car is amazing, i must admit the 240i was cool too, but the m2 was to animialistic for me, maybe im gettin older, but i still like to drive fast, just not drive insane, the speed is still there, the handling is pretty much the same (if not better in 230i and 240i), interior the same... but the price is not the same :)

yeh sound is a hard one with BMW, a non M car will generally get a sedate soundtrack so it suits most buyers and for BMW to sell an M performance exhaust in Australia as a genuine accessory they must be homologated and comply with ADR's which costs the group a fair bit of money. They then weigh up if potential sales will cover the costs to bring them in. Most of the time its a no. Once the LCI model comes out they need to do it again from memory.. another cost. So It only gives a small window to sell the product. Not a lot of people will shell out 8-10k for effectively a catback system. Its funny tho because at BMW training they teach you to sell Emotion.. well sound is what gets you emotion!

Also an owner of this car (in US market), and going on just over two years now. I agree with every claim in this video. Of course, so much of enthusiast car ownership is subjective when making choices, but objectively, this car is absolutely a true sports car that does not compromise any of the three attributes of handling, braking or power. Yeah, the weight is heavier than it should be, and the steering feel is not ideal...but that is almost ALL BMWs. Otherwise, this is a very, very well-balanced car!

The 2 series (not the FWD 4 door) and the 1 series before it are BMW's best driver focused cars of the 21st century. Now that they no longer offer a convertible 2 series, I'm going to hold onto my 228i convertible (with all the handling options) until it becomes too expensive to repair. Unfortunately the most affordable new BMW convertibles are the 2 seater Z4 30i or the 430i that has a hideous front grille.

I was also in a violent accident, hit by a girl in a big jeep flying downhill, I didn’t have my seat belt in and I was fine. Totalled the car so I linked up the white with black wheels. I get so many compliments on this car. Picked up some nice girls in it as well…cheeky so know but why not be honest. Do not mistake the 2 in the series. Red break bars and a killer interior….stunning. My next will be the M model.

It should beat most domestic vehicles (Most of those will probably have crappy tyres statistically and may have opportunity to get a better time - but it will be statistically rare). A tune only will make it a very low 5sec proposition. Here’s some Ross Review stats:

      2023 230i - 5.43secs
      Hyundai G70 v6TT 5.45sec

I searched up how reliable these are and they seem to be at their limit so a tune would not be ideal since they suffer from heat stroke. At that point the M240i is a better deal for tuning but the price difference is huge. Maybe a used M340i at the price point of the 230i is a smarter buy.

    BMW 230i - 255 hp / 3446 lbs = 0.073
    I've driven:
    Honda Crosstour V6 - 278 hp / 4,150 lbs = 0.067
    Honda Civic i4 - 174 hp / 2972 lbs = 0.059
    Mazda Miata - 181 hp / 2745 lbs = 0.066
    BMW M240i - 382 hp / 3748 lbs = 0.102
Looking at the numbers, the 230i is probably the closest thing BMW has to a sports car (at least here in the US).
The >2022 M240i isn't a sports car to me, it's too heavy, and too fast. You simply do not understand the joy of driving a slow car fast until you've smashed the accelerator of a Miata going through the gears getting to 65 mph. The M240i just won't provide the same amount of thrill unless you're willing to go to jail or to a track.
The 230i I think (if you plan to own), is a sweat spot if you wanted a 2 door coupe that can still be a very usable daily.
If you wanted more power, light mods and a tune will get you about the same performance as a M240i without the extra weight.
I think the 2022 2 series is much more of a daily... not everyone can afford 2-3 cars just to have a dedicated sports car.

Seems like more of a mid weight sports car at 3500-3600 LB compared to the BRZ and GR86 2800 LB. The 0-60 on both cars is 5.4, so it comes down to the agility, versatility, and creature comforts. When I bought my first new BMW in 2002 there were probably at least three different shades of each color on the color wheel. I know some paints have been phased out for environmental reasons and the supply chain issues but still, it's a darn luxury vehicle base or not...@@levipiber2121

Great review, but sorry I have to disagree on it's looks, to me it's lumpy and disproportioned, and the front end with those huge ugly corner vents just looks super awkward. Maybe it looks better in person, haven't seen one yet - but BMW just seem to have totally lost the plot with aesthetic design in the last few years - on the exterior at least - the interiors do look better and better.
