Some parks you just have to go early or later in the day to avoid the crowds, but all worth it. Really understand the Disneyland comment an about people talking so loud. We try to always see a busy park then find areas that are remote to decompress afterwards kinda like you are doing with your drive in Utah.
Enjoy your cooking and just love how you still find the positives in wherever you go. There are many places in Utah to lose the crowds enjoy.

NICE DRIVE! Thanks for your thoughts. Yes, sadly we found the same thing about the Grand Canyon. Too many people, too many tourons. Too many people that are not there for the nature experience. On the other hand, everyone should see it once. Tip: The North Rim is very different but not as crowded. Ahh you mentioned the North Rim. True, it is higher in elevation so not always open.

Unfortunately that’s been a factor most places we go is that folks will not even be enjoying what they’re their to see. Instead they’re having loud conversations about stuff they shouldn’t be discussing in public. It gives us more experience for traveling and helps guide us to the places we truly value.

North Rim campground is completely different experience, opens later in year cause elevation. Took my family there last June it was incredible! Been to south rim as well years ago, was as you described

Scored a nice campground. Timely video we are taking the same route tomorrow from Mather Campground. Agree Grand Canyon is amazing but busy. Today (Saturday) was the busiest of the four days we have been here. We did bike thru Trailer Village and it was a bit junky in areas. If you are under 30’ and can dry camp Mather is very nice. So enjoying follow your trip as we are taking a similar path.
    Thanks

Back in 1972 as a young Ironworker, Page was a hot spot during the time a Huge coal fired Generating Plant was being built. The pay rate was a dollar above scale, so draw boomers like myself like a magnet. Little did I realize, that the harsh environment and winds were more than than this Texan was use to. After 2 weeks, I had enough, but glad you 2 are showing it in away that makes me want to return someday. Thx for sharing, Bear in Tx. Still hopeful you guys will stop in at Bears Rod Shop in Boyd Tx on the way home ? 🤠

Then I strongly suggest you do not go to Yosemite then.
Grand Canyon Village was built when the railroad built the track to that location. The Grand Canyon RR tried to work out a deal with the Park Service to provide a shuttle service from the airport to the Village to help cut down on auto traffic and the Service would not do it. The Grand Canyon Village is over 100 years old. Santa Fe trains came up from Williams, into the southwest part of the Village into the wye, turned, and backed into the station.
When we went to Carlsbad Caverns in 1958, we were in a tour group of several hundred and followed y'all's route. I barely remember going to Grand Canyon Village in 1953 with my parents. From what I remember, it was crowded then.

You must have just missed Walmart because it has been there for probably 20 years. The main reason the campground wasn't packed is because of the water level at the lake and they're being pretty much no self-serve boat launch. That and the time of year.

Give those kids in the campground a break. Cooped up in an RV for hours at a time, they've plenty of built up steam pressure that needs to be relieved. There they are, in a magic place, having fun romping around and making noise. You're not visiting a shrine, right? I suspect if I were their age I'd do the same thing. Wouldn't you?
