Nice to know that there is a replica of my body in there.
Abraham Lincoln dude.... 😂😂🤣🤣😭🤦🏾♂️
He's just seeing if he can get a thousand likes😂
@@jackaction7077 For experimental purposes to see if you Americans recognize your future President for 2020.
@ToyStar Barbies And Squishy Fun! YT Maybe I am not.
Seen Elvis?
The most amazing thing to me is that Lincoln's body "toured" the United States for 2 weeks.
What? Why is that?
The craziest is that its still never been found
Lincoln was embalmed at every stop on his funeral tour. By the time he got to his destination, his face was very dark bronze color.
Wasn't there ice involved in Lincoln's funeral
@@blackivy8200 ... Never found??? He's buried in Springfield, IL.
My dad used to say, get cremated then in a hundred years time they wont be digging you up to build a road
Smart man.
Good idea
He’s smart
Smart man👍
They still dig ya up if you're cremated 🤔
Lincoln was buried in a coffin. Caskets and coffins are different because of the shape. JFK was buried in a casket. Caskets are favored over coffins because they are less creepy.
In the U.K. we mostly use coffins, however the majority of people are cremated I believe.
@@fjmh3933, Interesting!

Hey, I thought it was EGGcellent.
Not gonna lie I want to be buried like that too
Bruh my husband would 100% wanna be buried in the Yamaha motor 🙄

"Embalming began during the Civil War."
** Ancient Egyptians have entered the chat **
SupaSweetGApeach I did a paper on embalming in jr high
It’s crazy the history of embalming
Egyptians mummified totally different processes then embalming
Jess Basta to embalm means to preserve a body after death and is not limited to filling a body full of fluid as people are familiar with in today’s time. Embalming and mummifying were indeed two separate processes; however, embalming is a step in the process of mummifying a body used by the ancient Egyptians as early as 400 B.C., which pre-dates the Civil War
UnlicensedOkie an interesting topic I enjoyed studying in school myself
Those guys were the best at that
I’ve seen Lincoln’s actual death mask, it’s at the Lincoln museum in Illinois. There they have a whole recreation of his funeral and it’s a eerily calming scene.
JordansAWolf can send a link to a photo of it
Yet many reported the Lincoln ghost is still in the whitehouse, that would be really freaky. As many tragically murdered who their ghost still frequent Earth are reported to not know they actually died. Thinking they are still around for a cause which sounds right on Lincoln being that he was devoted to end the civil war and it was a few days after his murder when the war declared to be over. I do believe the north was defeating the Confederates in the war yes but after I do not believe most of the Confederates fought to the true end that their aims was for, most John Wilkes Booth was the second hated man on both sides after Lincoln's murder and most Confederates hated booth joining the union on tips to track booth. But with the downfall of the Confederate leadership in the final days and Lincolns death immediantly following stopped the war in my view and Lincoln won this dark time in our history though he paid with his life, he had great support more than people know from the Confederates also. Rest in peace president Lincoln and thank you for being the best president the country has ever had✝️🛐🙏
It’s a nice place
They got living people too I saw in some documentary
@@supportyourtroopsathletes6460 General Lee had already surrendered. That is why President Lincoln went to the play. The rest of your story is correct.
My stepdad dug graves for a living. He was friends with a lot of funeral directors. Every year all of the people who work for the grave services and the funeral directors and all of their families would get together and eat at s place called Charlie Williams in Athens Ga. Very interesting vlog Jacob !!
Charlie Williams was a great restaurant, went out of business several years ago, quite a few celebrities and politicians ate there, met President Carter there and Munson the voice of Ga. Bulldogs.
The Día de Los Muertos display made my heart happy ❤️🇲🇽
someone should bring the Ask A Mortician Channel here
I was just thinking that her channel brought me here. I don't think she'd be bored. I think she'd be glad that Death Positive places like this exist in the U.S.
Watching this and thinking the same thing.
In one of her latest videos she was in quarantine in Texas ... maybe ...
Totally, I follow that channel as well. Agree with ya on that
sadshadow301 All you do is make your view small, click copy link, then go to the page where you wish to share and click it into your message. I’ll do it this time! 🙂
This was more interesting than I thought it would be.

Was it dead in there? I'll show myself out.
No, but the air is kinda stale, it may make you start coffin
There is no way out, only DEAD ENDS!
I appreciate you
@@alynsak I'll be your source of bad dad jokes and puns for many years. Its sorta my job lol
just don't dig it too much...
I think Mr.Lincoln had one of the best burials of all he went around the Country and the Hearse with his 6 horses that was cool.
Fun fact about the money casket, the current owner only lets the museum borrow the casket, and takes it to use for decoration in halloween. I’ve been there for a field trip. We got a discount at the store for filling out some pamphlets at the front with questions about the museum.
Ask A Mortician is a great channel for anyone interested in more of this kinda stuff, funerals and death culture. (Maybe you wanna learn the difference between a coffin and a casket? Caitlin Doughty's got you covered)
She's great I binged watched all of her videos on RUclips
She is awesome
I love her. Watch her all the time.

I liked the "one hearse open sleigh" for a Christmas funeral. 😆
sick hehe
Didn’t know there was a museum of funeral history. It was really interesting and informative. Learned a lot. You find really interesting sites to check out. Thank you.
I believe there is a museum of funeral history in Iowa.
Definitely have to check this museum out when the virus clears. This video was very respectful, and informative.
You better hope you don't get the virus or at least become president first so you get a exhibit first before hand
I'll bet people were just" dying to get in" the museum! (I couldn't resist)
Yeah, but the staff are a bunch of STIFFS and very COLD. hehe
Call the home and ask for Myra Mains. It's a grave situation. The grave diggers have a lot of work----they're buried. The director has boxed a lot of people although he's not injured because the people are already laid out. The director has to re-hearse before his speech. The people never complain and take it lying down. Digging the grave could be a monumental task. The director has to urn people's respect.
@@scrapperpun5553 You certainly unearthed a lot of puns! I laughed so hard that it sent me into a coffin fit. You better PLOT out your next move! hehe
My grandad use to make that joke about the morgue lol he also use to point out the jail and say “People are killing to get in there”
There a lot of stiff competition out there !
WOW, that family casket at the end is WILD!
At first I thought it was a casket for a huge person.

This one looks interesting! Jacob, thank you for giving us the insite on so many places you've visited.
A longtime subscriber here - without a doubt you find the most interesting incredible places to take us!! Thank you sooooo much! Especially now during Covid-19 I am really greatful!! Helps me feel like I'm getting out and doing something interesting and fun!! Do the safety dance Carpetbagger!! ♡
I stayed in Houston TX one day and night back in 2017 before flying down to Merida Mexico and I was so pissed that I didn't have the time to visit this museum.
Thanks Carpetbagger for the tour. The Abraham Lincoln part was fascinating!
Robin Williams hiking boots from the movie “RV”, so cool to see but sad to know he is gone too soon😢. This was such a cool video to see many different things about the dead.
@Everyone. Robin Williams was a punk. He committed suicide. What a idiot. He gave up on life, as an old fan of his I'd have to say i lost all respect for Robin Williams...
Clayton Dennis He had depression. That’s what you don’t see about him on how he felt on the inside even if he was a famous celebrity. Celebrities go through the same mental illness we do. So idk why you’d speak such nonsense of him if you used to be a fan. Just because someone kills themself due to mental illness doesn’t make them weak. I hope you understand that.
@@yanabennett99 actually he wasnt depressed but had misdiagnosed early onset demetia that manifested itself in the same way of depression
@@claytondennis5245 He had lower body dementia, an aggressive form of a disease I can't remember the name of. And you know the saying people have masks, he hid a sad side under his comedic happy self, and to say you lost respect for him just because he knew his time was about to be over? very respectfully documented.. This video was very interesting.. I live in Louisiana, but will be planning a trip to Houston soon anyway, and now after watching this, I have to go to this museum. Thank you so much for doing this video...So very interesting and tastefully done.....
Went to this museum on a whim a couple years ago. I wasn’t disappointed. Really interesting place to visit and learn.
13:52 Why is “you got a friend in me” playing in the background
Those pets were the owners and actors friend of every movie they were in. They're showing a video of all the animals that have died over the years from different movies. Like the dog that played Lassie.
Your comment is funny though! 😆
Plus this guy looks like the chicken man from toy story 2 😛
Grandma passed away today so this was a really harsh coincidence. Regardless, great video, always appreciate seeing your content on my feed, thank you.
I wish you and your family peace. Remember the good times with her. She's always with you. 🤗
I cried when Paul Bearer died. I'm a huge fan of the WWE and I grew up watching it
Big fan as well
Cool
I was the same way with Eddie Guerrero 😩
I never cried when Paul went, the undertaker burried him. By the way his see hall of Fame was offered for sale recently to Rick Harrison in las Vegas Nevada.
very respectful of you to speak quietly and respectfully at this museum hah
From Las Vegas here...I enjoyed this video so much!!! Thank you for the tour.
“Look at his felty face” and “the pope’s henchmen”😂
It's amazing the amount of information you were able to DIG UP in there! I'm just DYING to go now!
This is so neat! I'll probably never get to see it in person, so thank you so much for sharing.
Another awesome video! Thank you for inspiring us to get out and explore this strange and amazing world we live in. Keep up the great work and happy travels :)
Hope you visit Galveston train museum.
Lately they have over 100 engines on harbor side Galveston
Oh never knew that was here in Houston, I will pay this place a visit soon
Come to the Grammy Museum in Cleveland,MS. There is also the famous BB King Museum in Indianola,MS 30 minutes away.
I live in Cleveland, MS and I don’t think people appreciate that museum so much
"Henchmen of the pope" 😂
Love it!
2:40 I've actually seen the real derringer. It's in the basement museum of the refurbished ford theater.
I've been to Ford's numerous times already. It's crazy how something small can end Lincoln's life.
Found your video surprising to say the least. Enjoyed hearing what traditions were observed. Thank you for putting so much time into researching before making videos. Please keep them coming.
Used to live nearby, but never stopped to see it. One day going to have to stop in.
Your channel is so underrated man! Keep up the good work watching your videos always makes me want to get out there and see new things! Awesome awesome job brother!
3:15 imagine the eyes opened
😂😂
15:09- Oohhh yeeeessss! I love The Undertaker and still is one of my favorite wrestlers. Its rather fitting Paul would have a display at this museum even including one of the incarnations of the iconic urn.
The WWE has been looking for memorabilia from the past--including one certain urn linked to the Undertaker. I don't recall the specifics....seems there were several used but one has yet to be found.
I love the undertaker too the urn has not been found
I know I will never see these in person...so thank you so much for putting this history on here for all to see....England here.
What a cool place to visit, those hearses and caskets are amazing!
I know it’s hard to choose a favorite
This is something I didn't know I needed.....
When I die I will be cremated, and scattered.I don’t wanna be dug up.
Funeral, bodies, anything about death fascinates me... IDK Why... My dream job would be to work in a funeral home!!! The videos you do like this are my favorite!!!
I went last week with my son. I didnt even know Houston had this. This was so cool to see.
Fascinating!!! I'm disabled and unable to travel, so to get to see all of the places you go is awesome! Thank you for amazing content!
How interesting, im an Undertaker in England UK, theres nothing like that here sadly, the English would call this weird and would not visit it, i think its fascinating, shame its too far away for a day out for me thanks for posting it, my hero was pictured on the wall Buddy Holly. R.I.P
Remember that episode of South Park when Kenny died and was cremated? Cartman thought that the urn was a container for chocolate milk mix. He drank it in his milk, and got haunted by the ghost of Kenny.
First time I've seen your site. The museum looks fascinating. I was a florist for 15 years and one of my great grand fathers was a funeral director in Jersey City, NJ. If I am ever able to get to Houston, this would be @ the top of my must see list. I've always found mortuary history very interesting. Great post.
👍👍
I have never heard of a Funeral Museum before. Thank you 🙏🏾 for taking me thru the museum.
I had no idea there was a funeral museum. I definitely want to check it out someday.
Good morning got to love a carpet bagger video in the morning
Good Moring Mr. Carpetbagger and Everyone, i hope you all have a great day. Remeber to smile and stay positive.
CB I love it, I need to see this but stuck at home in England so this is the next best thing. Thanks CarpetBagger you Rock.
One of my friends passed away earlier this year, and he loved dirt bikes so much, his urn was a golden gas tank.
I’ve been to this museum. It has so much information and was pretty awesome.
Okay Jacob, I have to ask, did the company actually give her the money back on the casket? I'm thinking after 20 years it be a pretty bogus claim, but you never know these days, right?! As always, LOVE the video, and thanks for 'bringing' our family along on your adventures!
I was wondering the same thing. Also since it was already paid for, why not just use it for yourself?
I hear over the rainbow in the background. Brings back memories from when I was in my high school orchestra 🥲
Great video. Fascinating stuff. I actually met George Barris at his shop in Burbank.
Thank you Carpetbagger for this informative video, I loved it!!!. Thanks for sharing with us.

*WOW, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PROVIDING THIS VIDEO!*
Whatta awesome treat to share with viewers. I never knew about this place. As sensitive as this matter can be, it's fascinating to humans, because one day we all will experience the same thing. It is the one-half of the inevitable; birth and death. This video is value and you provided people a look back👀at our history in the funeral industry in the America. *_Thank you._*
The casket with the cross on the top was beautiful.
Cool place to visit.
The Mexican funeral with the old lady I totally thought that it was moving a little bit
You are a gem too. Thank you! I loved this museum tour.
For those curious @ 14:52, the Marlboros aren't for Robert they are for Eric Lawson whose funeral program is right next to his. Eric portrayed the Marlboro Man.
Ironically he also played a parody of the Marlboro Man in an anti smoking campaign later in life. Unfortunately years of smoking caught up with him and he died of COPD.
I really enjoyed this thanks 👍🏽
Thank you! I have added this to my list of things to see before I become life challenged!
Fun fact: My father, who is a life long mortuary worker owns the enbalmbing kit used on President Franklin Roosevelt
Very interesting. I’d like to see that in person.

Great Museum! I visited a few years ago, when inquiring about mortuary school.
I was the sculptor for a company in St Petersburg FL that made a full scale working replica of Lincoln's funeral carriage. I recreated the ornamentation on the sides. That was cool to see in this video.
Thank you for this wonderful video.
3:14 Oh wow, I had no idea they dug up Lincoln to put him in this museum! His body was perfectly preserved.
How come there was nothing about Selena Quintanilla in there ???
I live just a couple of miles from this place and have never been there, but have been to a bunch of the places you have been, including Uranus.
I really appreciated you showing us thanks for letting us tour with u 💛 ❤️ 💕
All I wanna know is where are the famous ppl buried...?
The surrounding area is not so great but this is a hidden gem in the area.Been there once the workers in there are excellent and they actually know the products in there
This was very interesting. I very much appreciate how respectfully you approached this.
