Plastic Surgery SAFETY

  • When I began looking for a plastic surgery job after my training years ago, I remember being contacted by an organization. They told me the position involved doing about 5-7 surgeries a day, and there were no follow up appointments and I didn’t have to do consults. I would just have to show up every day and do surgery. Well needless to say I quickly ran away and did not consider that position further. I found the whole setup extremely strange and I remember telling myself - this is not what I went into medicine for.
That was my real first exposure to that “side” of plastic surgery and so when I began as a plastic surgeon I knew this world/side was out there and I would educate and talk about safety. Then I began seeing the sequelae of it more and more.. and more…
I got sent this and reviewed the situation and am here to share my thoughts. Unfortunately this is not the only of these types of stories out there.
Ya’ll you’ve got to be safe out there - here I share my thoughts but also I share some tips and things to look out for and what is normal and not normal.
Complications happen - I won’t deny that BUT the difference comes in when you are abandoned and left to figure it out for yourself in these situations.

Thank you Dr Amaka for your honest opinion. I'd love to hear your opinion on surgeries done with residents at teaching hospitals.

Also too your ethics match your work.
i have family members who have personally had the pleasure to be patients of yours and they speak very highly of you and seeing your videos are such a blessing to me.
Breaking information down to a fraction is needed in the cosmetic community 💫
