Lou, I feel the word 'Gorgeous' is fully justified in describing this banker's hot rod. Longer, lower, wider and longer some more would also be appropriate adjectives. That whole catalogue of fine Chryslers for '68 (in almost twenty different colors) is an excellent exclamation point for this display of rolling sculpture. Thanks to Jim and all the previous owners for preserving this Frost Green Metallic gem for over fifty years so all of us could enjoy it today.
I love it, Lou! It's big & bold and really looks great! The "Survivor" cars are always my favorites. Thanks for finding & sharing this 300 with us today!
Lou once again you are bringing back memories. That car was a year old when I went to work at the Chrysler dealer. The 67 and 68s were, in my opinion, better cars than their 1969 and 1970 replacements.
I had a high school teacher that had a 300 IDENTICAL to this one, he sold it shortly before I graduated. His 300 was spotless also and ALWAYS shined like a new dime. I’m now 64 and he’s close to 90. Omar lives a couple of miles from me and is still VERY particular with the way he presents his vehicles.

Oh my, Lou, beautiful! Bringing back such powerful memories of my childhood. My daddy and I would work on our 65 Plymouth Fury III together. That’s what started my love and passion for cars. And a neighbor had this exact car in the same color! Love your posts, Lou. Keep it going! Many thanks!
My grandfather had this car when I was a kid. It was actually my grandmothers daily driver. She was 5’ tall and could barely see over the steering wheel. Lol. Loved the video. Thanks.
back in about 1985 bought a 68 newport..real mafia gunship as we called them..was my daily driver...kids never liked it they would slide down in the back seat if they saw one of their friends..loved it on the road...383 ran good...enjoyed this...and it had disc brakes on it dual piston keysey hayes calipers..most I guess didn`t have disc brakes till 69..thanks again Lou
LOVE IT! The very first car I ever bought was a '68 Chrysler 300, Sovereign Gold Metallic, 2 door White top, Black interior, Bucket seats w/ center console and a factory vacuum gauge, TNT 440 dual snorkel air cleaner and would pass everything except a gas station. bought it for $425 from a lady who brought it to the vocational technical collage to have some work done on it so she could sell it. I talked to the instructor and asked how much she would want for it "AS IS". I borrowed the money from my boss (I worked at an AMOCO service station after school). It ended up being my project car for class (this was back in '78 down in Florida). Car was completely rust free and straight as an arrow. Wish I still had it.

That Green was popular in 68 because the Dodge ads for the Charger had used this Green with a black vinyl roof . Nice to see how it has a 24 gallon gas tank for long drive with fewer stops.
I had a friend whose Mother had a Two door Chrysler 300 big block 440. We cruised from Toronto to Bracebridge at give or take 85 MPH. Mrs Kerr wasn't really worried about the speed limit. At about 85Mph, the car wasn't even starting to work. Smooth, comfortable and at 100 you didn't worry about passing anyone. The Car flew.....

Surprise!!! A green car!!! Lou... Buddy.... You and green cars. This is a beauty! I've loved 300's for as long as I can remember. And this green is perfect for it. A beautiful land yatch. Great video Lou.
OMG!!! That is funny, "I get a lot of ladies in their 80's and 90's who wanted one of these." I had a 66, 300, with the 440..... The first person outside my family who came over to look at my car was a 60 year old lady, who loved cars (drove a Maverick Grabber, and had a 65 Galaxie 500, 7.0 in storage in her garage), asked to drive it. And she did, hot rodding around the hood!!!! LOL! She explained the exact same thing. Her husband didn't want to spend the money and they ended up with the Ford! BTW, this was in 83! LOL! Just damn funny how the 300 legacy of 1955-1972 history endures, even to this day. Thanks for bringing this car to light, even if it is a 383 series, these cars were special to many, including myself.
My first car was a 1948 Jeep with a frozen engine that my parents made me rebuild and get running if I wanted a car (my Dad was a mechanic so I got grudging guidance from him). My second car was a hand-me-down green 1968 Chrysler 300 convertible. Years later, I bought another one and still have it.

Just a big beautiful streamlined two door car! I had a 1965 and this car on the sides and the interior on some points was just like it like the hood props the same as my old 1965. I love the color the hide away headlights the nice huge back up lights plus the big 440 cubic inch engine. I love the bucket style seats always loved those. The engine sound boy I bet that car will really scoot!! Just a awesome survivor. Always used to rust out over the rear fender skirts these looked clean. I saw just 66 thousand miles I do believe that is awesome. Thanks Lou for sharing! He has a true piece of history there!
Fantastic , have a 70 , full option 300, 440 TNT (thumper cam) , was converted to 4 speed , but have original trans , 433 gears, stop light drag monster , people can not believe how how fast my car is for a land yacht..Great stuff Subbed and shared...
Damn, I didn't know this car used to even exist. I thought it was something new in the last decade or so. That's cool. I learned something today so I don't have to learn anything else until tomorrow. Glad I got that out of the way lol.
Lou I was 15 yrs old when these cars were new. Comparably equipped their price point was in line with Buick Electra 225 and Olds 98. They were higher priced than Wildcat Customs and Delta 88 Customs. Also it appears that you may have been a toddler when these cars were new. God bless you for having an appreciation for cars of this vintage. Keep up the good work!
Original and unrestored engine with what sounds like the early Chrysler "Dying Dog" sounding starter. Never had the starter pulled and rebuilt. Good stuff here. Once again Lou, a great "My Car Story'" post.

That's a beautiful piece of machinery - the size, the power, the presence a 300 has. If I'd a friend like Jim had...wow. Scenario - Friend(on phone): "Come buy this car..." *But before he can finish, there's a knock at the door.* Me: "Get off the phone, and take my money!" End scene. Thanks Jim & Lou!
My parents had a '67 Chrysler town & country wagon, it was the station wagon version of this car. I took my driving test in that car, it had a 440 with the dual snorkel air cleaner. The greatest feature was the front passenger seat would lay flat, best make-out car ever! I'm sure if my girlfriends dads knew about, they wouldn't have let me date them.
I have such a soft spot for these big mid-sixties big block Chrysler barges. Understated beauty. Go to any car show and you’ll see Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros on top of each other (yawn) but you hardly see anything as cool as these.

They always look cool with backing up and hideaway headlights and noticed no air conditioning thought that was cool as well and it's great shape without restoration hope he keeps it that way
Chryslers of this era were excellent road cars, smooth, quiet, stable and fast. I had a plastic model of this 300 when I was a kid. I loved the hidden headlamps. And in high school I bought a ‘66 Newport with a 383ci V8. Drove it for 10 years. What I wouldn’t do to find one of these 300s with agreen interior...
@@loucostabileI've seen one that looks [from the outside] identical to the one I had [probably lacks most of the rare features mine had, but it would still be wonderful to have it anyhow, since a lot of those bells and whistles were not things I ever would have actually used] but I just don't have the money at this point.
Hi ZWILD1, Happy to read your Parents enjoyed cars like this :-) I'd love to be at Carlisle, however I have another show that weekend, so stay tuned and you'll see some of those cars too. Have fun at the Corvettes and Carlisle as I know that will be an awesome show for sure! Lou
@@loucostabile I will be watching for more of your excellent videos. Corvettes at Carlisle was awesome and got to see the new C8. We also did the Corvette parade on Saturday evening.
Those hood prop rods are testimony to Chrysler's torsion bar suspension technology...way ahead of it's time. When I was a freshman in college in 76-77 I had a 76 Cougar, my roommate had a 74 Dodge Swinger. Our next door neighbors: one had a 73 Nova and the other one had this car in consort blue metallic, a hand me down from his dad. When we went cruising for fun, or hunting ladies, or just for adult beverage runs we always took the 300...because hey, in a pinch we could always stuff 2 or 3 bodies in the trunk! 🤣🤣 And yes, it had that same 440 with that subtle rumble!
My dad had a 1969 New Yorker that was very similar in color. The sheet metal was very thick on it also, so it was built like a “tank.” Chrysler was famous for their “torsion bar” suspension, and I noticed its use instead of springs on the hood. The 300 was considered to be the “sporty model” that was just below the New Yorker. The standard engine on it was the 383ci. V8. Interiors on these cars were quite luxurious, and my dad’s had “brocade cloth” on the seats of his car. I noticed the lack of A/C on this model. My dad’s car also lacked that feature, so this car might be from the northern US, or even Canada!
Hi Jack, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Well I have a little good news for you, there might be an early 1960's Wagon coming up in a future episode so stay tuned, Lou
Lou! The next time you find a mid 60's to late 50's Chrysler 300, if they have the original key, get a shot of it!!!!! I still have mine and the attention to detail, by Chrysler back in the day was all about presenting the Imperial and 300 as "special/custom." By price, they were. My Chrysler Lion Key is my good luck charm.
Car is awesome. Big but with the 440, no problem getting out of its own way ;). LOVE the survivor aspect. Lucky so and so ! Lots of folks think the 300's from the late 50's were the first muscle cars. Crazy motors and carb set ups but they were in a big car. Watch Christine lately ? I have. That Fury was furious !
My mom, who formerly didn't drive, first car was a new '68 Newport that looked too similar. It was a 2 door, avocado with black top, but green cloth interior. Same engine, but fortunately had a/c.
And this car will run with the best of them,my dad had one and I have the motor and trans. I was 9yo. I have 1968 Newyoker for sale same set up 2 door.

Does this bring back memories, my father did a car change over its color a couple of times when I was growing up. The other one that comes to mine was the 2 Matador coupes, I believe they were both 74s again the first one was green, he changed it for a maroon one and both cars was only 1 years old when he got them. I remember in 75 my dad got a blue maverick, it was brand new and he worked for a Ford dealer, well Ford just offered a 2 tone maroon Maverick (part of a decor pkg) and guess what my father did next, traded the blue one in. Yeah my father never kept a car for that long, in the 70s maybe 2 months tops he would keep a car, unbelievable.

MY 300 was ALL electric, had cruise control, climate control, dueal remote ralleye mirrors, duel dolby autoreverse AM/FM cassette, 160 watt Delco rear amplifier, EIGHT speakers, SIX power windows [it was also a 2 door fastback] and had FIVE cig lighters, [one in the rear of the console] and ELEVEN interior lights! And a whole lot of OTHER ultra-rare options. But in my youthful stupidity, I got in trouble with the law, lost my license, could not pay storage on the car, and I don't even know if it still exists any more.
Back in 1970 my father owned 2 convertible version of this 300, 1 was the green like this coupe and the other was a burgundy color, basically the green one did not like the color so he got the other one.
Slick Sleigh. Long and low, all angles, hidden headlights, fastback roofline, vinyl top, and terrific tail panel.
Thanks Lou.

Hi Pete Medina, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
My parents had a '67 Chrysler town & country wagon, it was the station wagon version of this car. I took my driving test in that car, it had a 440 with the dual snorkel air cleaner. The greatest feature was the front passenger seat would lay flat, best make-out car ever! I'm sure if my girlfriends dads knew about, they wouldn't have let me date them.
Hi Paul Ehlers, Happy to read this one brings back memories of your Parents Wagon :-) Lou
I have such a soft spot for these big mid-sixties big block Chrysler barges. Understated beauty. Go to any car show and you’ll see Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros on top of each other (yawn) but you hardly see anything as cool as these.
Hi Matt, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
They always look cool with backing up and hideaway headlights and noticed no air conditioning thought that was cool as well and it's great shape without restoration hope he keeps it that way
Hi larry borkstrom, I like hideaway headlights too :-) Lou
Chryslers of this era were excellent road cars, smooth, quiet, stable and fast. I had a plastic model of this 300 when I was a kid. I loved the hidden headlamps. And in high school I bought a ‘66 Newport with a 383ci V8. Drove it for 10 years. What I wouldn’t do to find one of these 300s with agreen interior...
Hi Gary Noone, Happy to read this one is one you had as a plastic model :-) Lou
I MISS MY 68 300!!!
Hope you're behind the wheel of another one soon.
@@loucostabileI've seen one that looks [from the outside] identical to the one I had [probably lacks most of the rare features mine had, but it would still be wonderful to have it anyhow, since a lot of those bells and whistles were not things I ever would have actually used] but I just don't have the money at this point.
Awesome love big cars. From 68 -73 my parents bought Chrysler products. Lou great video! You should come see me at Corvettes at Carlisle this year.
Hi Beast 1624, Good times, good times :-) Lou
Wow ...that is tight....
Nice :-)
Beautiful C body Chrysler. Lovin it.
Nice :-)
Wonderful lines. Great car.
Hi abe frohman, Happy to read you enjoy the design of this car :-) Lou
Beautiful car. Love the C body Mopars
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Another great car and video. thanks
HI Will Scott, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Fred Kelbert, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dad's 69 New Yorker :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful car I'd like to see the station wagon version,I'm fascinated with late 50s and 60s wagons ✌👌
Chuck! If I see a key of one with the car...you will too :-) Lou
Very beautiful car
Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car Telar Dingx :-)
Car is awesome. Big but with the 440, no problem getting out of its own way ;). LOVE the survivor aspect. Lucky so and so !
Lots of folks think the 300's from the late 50's were the first muscle cars. Crazy motors and carb set ups but they were in a big car.
Watch Christine lately ? I have. That Fury was furious !
Hi g mat, Happy to read you think this car is "awesome" :-) Lou
Awesome sound!
Nice :-)
Thanks Lou it's a beauty (Doug in Ga)
Hi Doug in GA, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Some years have a lot of great cars. 1932 was one; 1955 another; and 1968.
Happy to read you enjoy this year :-)
Lou I think you may have shown him a few things he didn't know about his own car,
Hi bill, It happens, but not often :-) Lou
Love the concave sides and sporty roofline - still elegant in '68. Then came the '69's . . . pity!
Hi Jay, Happy to read you "love" the design of this car :-) Lou
Smooth riding classy cars..
Well said Mo Garcia :-)
My mom, who formerly didn't drive, first car was a new '68 Newport that looked too similar. It was a 2 door, avocado with black top, but green cloth interior. Same engine, but fortunately had a/c.
Hi james davis, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Mom's 68 Newport :-) Lou
Great survivor
Nice :-)
The beast
:-)
And this car will run with the best of them,my dad had one and I have the motor and trans.
I was 9yo. I have 1968 Newyoker for sale same set up 2 door.
Hi Thomas Cowart, Happy to read your 1st hand knowledge about a car like this :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Now all you need is a Hellcat engine and chassis, and you're in business!!
That's a fun idea :-)
There is a more expensive "split bucket" back seat which has much more division and a rear arm rest.

Hi Elizabeth Cherry, Happy to read this one brings back memories of your Fathers car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Did anyone else spot that row of unsold 2016 Dodge Darts in the background? ;)
Carlisle Chrysler Nationals they group the cars by model and year :-)
Would have been nice to know what the price was ! No one ever puts what they are asking or what they paid for it, afraid to I guess.
Hi J. L. Neis, This Car Channel focus is on the story of why the Care Taker has this car. Sometimes the Care Taker has the window sticker, however prices would be the focus on an auction site. Hope you see many episodes you'll enjoy, Lou
Back then that was fun the newer stuff is quick but there not fast theres a big difference

I want to renew my car from the inside and outside to make it like your beautiful car. How much does the country’s accessories cost? Is there any parts you have?

I video the car, I do not have parts to share.
Those reverse lights could be flame throwers. 😀
Nice :-)
Sweet how nice...

Very nice 😀
Hi Michael Coffey, Glad to read you enjoy this nice car :-) Lou
HI Hunny Bunny's Heavy Metal Music Mining & Machining, Thanks for sharing the story of your car. Sad to read the end result :-( Lou
NICE! I have a 66 Vert
Hi Jay Delancey, You have an awesome car too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
How much did it cost to renew the interior and exterior accessories of such a car
No idea.
Lou just for the record those aren't prop rods that hold the hood up they are torsion bars similar to the suspension on Chrysler's of that era
Hi Samuel Latt, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Absolutely LOVE this car! Did the owner tell you at all how much he paid for it?
Hi Kenn Love, High praise for this car :-) No idea what he paid, Lou
Hey it's my mother's 1968 Fury II except hers had actual matching carpet.
Happy to read this one brings back memories of your Mothers car :-)
Soo, that's what a V8 sounds like with 20 yards of exhaust on it.
:-)
So much better with the sound off.
My wife says the same thing :-)
Back in 1970 my father owned 2 convertible version of this 300, 1 was the green like this coupe and the other was a burgundy color, basically the green one did not like the color so he got the other one.
