The problem with mods, is that they don't update the blocky geometry of the maps. CM does this, but it goes WAY too far to the other direction. It's equivalent to the HD models of HL1, highly detailed models against a low poly world.
A complementary mod for MMOD would be a "light" CM that don't destroy the vision of the original game. Adding props etc... the insane thing would be doing that in source 2 but too much work or we'll go the black mesa route and wait more than a decade XD.
absolutely appreciate the work put into this, but now all looks very vibrant and colorful almost like cartoonish, and also very clean ... the original art has more realistic feel despite this being in hd

Some thing HL2 did better than the showcase mod and any other game is the explosions. In HL2 they feel quick, fast and powerfull, snappy. This mod turns them into hollywood style combustions, pretending to be explosions, like many other fps. Also, the lensflares and bloom. That only happens in dusty/foggy circumstances or very, very bright lights. Not on every run of the mill bulb.
Imagine throwing your crowbar and can't get it back in HL2 Episode 1, Barney says he'd like you to not lose it since he didn't have many of those left.

The one thing that always seems to be neglected is resized HL2 maps, it was done for HL1 but the loading screens in the game could be cut in half if done right
Call me a purist, but the AR2 should not cycle through a new round for every shot…one round gets cycled 30 times until it loses its potency, and then a new one is loaded in from the bin.
Should be like you need to reload another mag IF all of those 3 tiny bullets are gone, is like 2 reloads on the gun, reload when the tiny bullet is finish and reload an entire mag when all of it is finished, could have been so unique
You're being a purist about a literal unfinished weapon, the AR2 was SUPPOSED to cycle through the entire magazine, but Valve never implemented it fully. The new MMod animations made the AR2 what it was supposed to be from the beginning, and I cum every time I reload the thing.

Half life 2 fights always had some kind of urgency/quick decision making/ fast pacing for me. It’s part of the reason why I still love the gunfights this game so many years later. Makes you think on your feet.

overall, looks nice, but there's a couple of things I don't really like, first is the lack of sand particle interaction with bullets and explosions and all, second is that weird sound the realistic sound mod played with every item thrown (might be a glitch I suppose), third are the blood effects, too unrealistic, looks more like paint and is done in excessive amounts, 4th is that realistic ragdolls are not really that realistic imo, can be better. But as I said before, all and all, a decent collection of addons, good job!

The throwable crowbar is a good concept, but if you manage to loose it at the beginning, you might be in deep shit (better hope you don't run out of bullets till you reach some checkpoint).

That includes the "world reacting bullets" which are basically impact effect particles. By the way those "lens flare" are the second biggest lie after 3. Not for bad but instead of remastered I would prefer a remake on source 2.
Well the only one I didn't see is the black mesa test chamber mod making the background while Gman is talking in the intro look a bit better, I don't know if you're still actively working on this but it's awesome! ^^ And yes yes I know the RTX version is on it's way and will make all remasters irrelevant, but my PC won't be able to run that anyway so this is more fun. :P But as for more mods to add, this is more for HL2 MMod but there's a video on RUclips called remastering Half-Life 2 with 102 mods or something, they linked to a list of them all, that list might be of some help seeing as you both had the same goal, perhaps a middle ground between your lists is the key, Idk. ^^

Best played with Nemez’s combine soldier reskins. I think they fit the universe way better, you can also give Combine backpacks in EP2 for further emersion
Jim's combine soldier improved on gamebanana fit the universe more for me with their helmet and kick and headbutt animation. I want them to be tactical and badass. Anyways its your opinion

Well, nice Gmod collection, I also use these addons but really you didn't remaster Half-Life 2 (with mods), the title is misleading. Also a quick tip, you can use 'g_ragdoll_fadespeed 0', that way the ragdolls won't disappear and they'll collide only with the world geometry. Makes for a more optimised performance and smoother gameplay.
btw.. the updated mmod models are fantastic EXCEPT the updated smg which both removes the pump action grenade launcher, AND removes the larger grenade launcher muzzle along with the extended-position stock. basically you have perfect taste for keeping the OG mmod smg and i commend you for that.
Or just implement low res textures better. I remember unreal tournament 98 having better looking ground textures than this because they made extensive use of overlay textures to give the appearance of high def.

There’s nothing realistic about a shotgun blasting someone a couple yards away. It’s really “gamey”
