I Visited 27 of Britain's Best Sights by Cruise Ship | Princess Cruises

- Normally when you think about people taking a cruise, you probably imaging them cruising somewhere warm like the Caribbean, enjoying cocktails on the beach or by the pool. The British Isles may not be a place you associate with cruising, but I’ve just disembarked a 12 night cruise that took us around England, Ireland, Scotland, The Channel Islands and France. When I booked this cruise I did wonder if we would really be able to properly explore Britain by cruise ship, after all you usually don’t get very long in each port and I knew we’d have a lot of extra travel to do to reach the main cities.
I didn’t know if I would find the ports interesting as I’m from England and I didn’t know if the great British weather would let us down. I set myself a challenge to visit 27 of Britains best sites and I wanted to see if the cruise would be cheaper than making the same trip on land. The cruise ended up being both better, and worse than I’d imagined pre cruise with plenty of unexpected events.
Thank you to @rupert.t.drone on Instagram for the fabulous Liverpool drone shots! :-)

Doughnuts are definitely breakfast food in the US! Most independent doughnut shops open at 5 or 6 am and won't be open into the later afternoon. It's very common to bring boxes of a dozen doughnuts to work or other events in the morning to share
That is bonkers to me 😅❤️
You know what's bonkers? Beans for breakfast 🤣🤣 Although I tried some on norwegian bliss last March, not too bad though...
@@jeffc3278 I thought the same thing about breakfast beans but they're not like baked beans. The beans are like the imported Heinz Beans and different than US baked beans.
I am in Australia and donuts tend to be for morning tea or afternoon tea here.
@@jeffc3278 Agreed!! I don’t like beans anytime. 🤣❤️
I am TOTALLY addicted to this channel. Emma, you are legendary in all respects!
Thank you! ❤️❤️
My wife Kate and I really have no plans for a cruise but we enjoy watching your adventures anyway. You seem to be a kind person whose youthful exuberance shines. My wife is a cancer survivor who wore a wig for 18 months and cried when she heard about your reason for short hair. Thank you for that from both of us!
Oh wow, thanks so much for your kind words. $45k we raised this time, for hair!! Bonkers to me but so grateful to everybody who donated. 😊❤️
I missed the reason for that. Could someone fill me in?

I just this video about the Princess Cruises around the UK. It just so happens by wife, and I took the same cruise on September 18th of 2022 on the Emerald Princess for her birthday. It was our first cruise ever and it sold us on cruising. Your description of the cruise and ports was exactly what we experienced, and we had signed up for another cruise in the Caribbean before we left the ship, which turned out to be really good too. I really enjoy your commentaries and videos on cruising, you truly do a great job!
Honestly, I love a good graveyard. It tells you a lot about a place and they’re often very lovely with gorgeous landscaping and architecture. When I went to Finland and Sweden some of my favourite places I visited were the cemeteries. I even went to one in NYC and to go from this hustling busting built up metropolis to a rolling green landscape was a breath of fresh air.
Haha. Too creepy for me! 😂🎉
I was on this cruise as well! I spotted you from afar while watching The Sound of Music on deck, but I was too starstruck to go say hi. When I finally worked up the courage, you were gone. I really enjoyed this cruise, it was a great introduction to the UK!
We never got to the end of The Sound of Music - we overheated! ( Can't actually believe I'm saying that as we were sailing around the top of Scotland!) You should have come over, we aren't scary! 🤣
I love your super quick overviews of each part of your experience…ports, restaurants, cookies (biscuits), dining. Plus, the super pleasant vibe makes them a pleasure to watch!
Thanks so much ☺️
When I was a child in the 1960s, I had an elderly babysitter from Scotland whose father was a ferryboat captain on loch Ness in the late 1800s and early 1900s. She said that as children they were warned to stay away from loch Ness because of the monster.
Oh wow, thats a good idea! ha ha.
When you look into Dutch folk tales it is astounding how many stories have monsters taking kids. To keep kids away from water, swamps, out of corn fields. Probably two flies one stone. The kid stays away and your crops grow.
Oh, my... a button on your phone that soon after you press it cookies magically appear? That must have been heaven for you. :)
Hello. I have watched so many of your cruise vlogs. I have learned so much. I am excited to say that my first cruise is booked...July of 2023. I will be on The Koningsdam of Holland America. We are going to Alaska. SO EXCITED. Thank you!!!!
I have a British Isle cruise booked on Princess for May of 2023. Looking at your video gives me great insights on things to see and do in each port. I’m from Florida and look forward to exploring your beautiful part of the world. 🌎
How was your cruise? I’m also from Florida thinking about doing a British Isle cruise next May!
I'm from Northern Ireland so it was nice to see you talking about Belfast.
Also nice to see you explaining the difference between Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK and Great Britain! So many people get it wrong and it really irks me!
Lots of people tell me I’m wrong in this comments also 😂😂😂
@@EmmaCruises no you sounded pretty correct based on what I saw!
Le Havre was one of my favorite cruise ports. Not because of Le Havre itself, but because we visited Normandy. As an American, that was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had.
☺️❤️
Normandy truly is special. The Allied Cemetery is simply beautiful and like you said was absolutely moving. Easily one of the most important places I've ever visited.
Twice this year cruise ships have abandoned South Queensferry because of the weather. The Forth can turn nasty very quickly. I watched you sailing down the Forth from my living room window.
I'm from Greenock! I'm glad you enjoyed my wee town, it was heavily hit by the decline of heavy industry and the resulting poverty and the area is finally seeing investment and regeneration again, it would be wonderful to see more passengers stay and spend local, there are some more worthwhile things to see and do in the area with just a short bus or taxi journey! I'm really saddened that Princess displayed a sign warning of drugs but only for the Greenock Port. Yes the area has seen issues with drugs but no more or less than any large town in the UK. I feel it paints the area in a really poor light :(
Yeah I’m not sure about that, you’d think they’d show it in places like liverpool too (haha). Maybe they did but I didn’t see it. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
It might be pushing it for time but The Greenock Cut is a very nice walk if anyone fancies a bit of countryside rather than the town.
Well done Emma. Being from the US I always wondered if a cruise like this would be both economical and a good way to see the British Isles. Thank you for your informative and entertaining video. I hope Hudson had a wonderful birthday 🎂 🐱
Thanks lots Kevin! 😀❤️
@@EmmaCruises Kevin ... say hello to Emma when you see her ok ? ...
Whilst it shows yiu a few bits i wouldn't say it shows you the British isles. For starters it didn't go to wale, due to port locations yiu can't access national parks, dont visit London. You get so excited about nessy ang giants causrway. There is Pembrokeshire in walee, the actual lake district, peak district, south downs, cotswolds to name just a few. Really not sure it tours the British isles
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, Emma ❤ Love your videos!
Thanks so much Isabella! Much appreciated :)
Yay Emma, nice to see you reviewing Cobh and Dublin, hope you enjoyed visiting Ireland and hope the weather wasn't too crap!
Outstanding work. You covered so many details for all those ports of call and did it in a manner that left no stone unturned while describing the situations that matter most. Truly amazing. I love your streams. Like watching a good Ken Burns documentary. Can't wait to see what's coming next. Thank You again Emma. Stay Safe.
Thanks so much that’s so kind of you to say! ☺️❤️
Hey Emma, looked you you had a great cruise. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thanks Brent! Much appreciated. :-)
Thanks for the video. We love the combination of information and entertainment. Watching this video has made us put a British Isles cruise on our bucket list. Emma you crack us up so much, we love your humour.
Thanks so much Robin and Tedd! ☺️
Well done Emma. One of your best videos and very informative.
Hey David, thanks so much. Much appreciated! :)
Always so thorough and informative! Thank you, Emma!
Once again: I ❤️ the way you do your reviews 👍 Great itinerary. Love that class of Princess ships.
Your so humble - I can't thank you enough for you prevailed humility ❤️
Love your videos Emma, hope you keep doing these cruise reviews!
Thank you Emma, your videos always make me smile. Jim
And your comment made me smile!! :D
Well now there is a new bucket list trip.... great video
As a six time cruiser (All on Princess) I love watching your different videos for different cruise lines. And I thoroughly enjoy them and I love your British accent.. and the "Britishisms". Excellent!
This trip was the 12 day Emerald Princess from Southampton, August 25, 2022 to September 6, 2022. There was mostly good weather all the way. There are convenient commuter trains from Cobh to Cork and Greenock to Glasgow. You have an excellent trip summary. There were about 1200 people from the UK and 1200 from the USA onboard.
I too love a full promenade deck, and it’s sad to see many newer cruise ship with chopped up outdoor spaces. My favorite promenade is on Royal Caribbean’s Radiance-class that fully circles the ship and allows you to go on the helipad and very front of the bow.
Oh wow! Yes!! I love that. This one was on two levels but it was quite nice. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Great video Emma, looks like you had a great time. We had a UK holiday in July, first in 12 years. It wasn’t a cruise but I had forgotten just how nice the UK is for holidays, so much to do and see.
So nice! Thanks Steve :-)
I'm so happy you did this video! I have enjoyed your insights for a while now, and have booked this same itinerary on Regal Princess in May 2023. I will watch this again a few times, I'm sure!
Have a great time! 🥳🥳
I love your content!! I’ve only been on Caribbean cruises and your videos expand my worldview
Excellent As Always Emma! You Have A Gift! Fantastic Weather, Very Cool Places Of Interest! Thanks For This! Always Stay Safe My Dear Friend!💖😉
Hahaha!!! Your blurry outro dance just got me!! Great video, as always. 👍
I love this format. Loved the little bits of history. Thanks for the fun video Emma!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed 😊🎉
Thank you Emma. This video was very scenic and beautiful. It really makes me want to go on a cruise. This trip looked like so much fun. With all the walking, you must be quite fit. Cheers 🥂
😊 Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
So enjoy watching your videos Emma. Nice to also see the comparison on this cruise. So happy to see you found your beloved cookies!!!
Lots and lots!! Haha. Thanks Kim 😊
Great episode, Emma. We had a great Caribbean cruise in March on Emerald this year. Our restart. Loved it, love Princess. We indeed have that journey on our bucket list providing it's on a Princess ship. Wouldn't mind a Celebrity ship, but our hearts are with Princess. Love your channel and content! Bruce and Gwen from New Jersey 👍🌞
Thanks Bruce and Gwen! ☺️
What a great cruise, and a great video - nicely done! Your enjoyment really came through.
Thanks Kevin!! 🎉❤
Busy, busy, busy!! Wow, that 'British Isles' cruise looks like it's a lot of fun!! Great informative content , as usual, thanks so much Emma!! And your hair is growing out fantastic, you look smashing! ;)
Thanks so much Jon 😊
Another Great video! Thanks very much for all the great info :) We are planning our first cruise thanks to your videos.
As an American, I prefer to watch the Brits do Trivia 😄
Excellent video, Emma! Very well done. I really appreciate all your content, and you really hit a "home run" with this one. Warmest regards to you!
Thanks so much that’s very kind ☺️❤️
I absolutely love your enthusiasm for the food! A girl after my own heart ❤
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video thanks Emma. I've never seen the point in a British Isles cruise as it is such an easy place to get around but you have converted me.
AWESOME JOB Emma so proud of you! 🛳🖤🖤🍃🍁🍁🧡🧡🖤🛳🍃🍂🍃🛳🍁🍁🧡👻🖤🖤🎃🍃🍂🍂🍃🍁🧡👻👻🖤🖤🎃🍃🍂👻🍁🍁🖤🍂👻🧡🍁🛳🛳🖤🖤🛳🎃👻🧡🍁🧡👻👻🖤🛳🎃🎃🍃

Greetings from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Just wanted to say that your video was perhaps the best cruise vlog that I have seen. Your presentation style and delivery are quite captivating and very informative it is almost like viewing a first class documentary. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos. Thanks for sharing. Take care, stay safe.
Thanks so much, trying my best and learning as I go! 😀😂
Top notch video. Loved it as well.
New Subscriber from Canada. I love watching these videos. I used to work on a cruise ship for one of the big cruise lines but I don't travel as much as I'd like or have never done the smaller cruises so I like to watch you do these types of cruises. Plus having a pretty lady to present is a bonus also. Thanks for great content
Thanks Christopher 😊
Cheers Emma. Good video as usual.
Steve from "IndianOPolis," Indiana USA.😁 I really enjoy these kind of videos, seeing the highlights of your cruises with your commentary. Definitely a cruise I would consider to tour the British Isles - a "big bang for the buck!" I'll leave you with this quote, "Mmmm Donuts!" -- Homer Simpson. My favorite memories are of my Mom stopping on her way home from nightshift hospital nurse and picking up fresh, hot yeast donuts from the best shop in the city!😋🤤☺️
Thanks for all your help. I love to cruise and you help to decide what I should do next.
Informative as always but this video felt more playful and fun than most as well. I really enjoyed it!
Thank you! 😁❤️
This was fantastic.. thank you so much.. bucket list for sure
Thanks Todd! :-)
I visited Dun Laoghaire on a school trip 3 years ago (I'm from Austria) and it felt kinda unknown and small (although I enjoyed that trip very much) so I think it's really cool to see that you also went there!
Yes!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Another cruise for my bucket list! Thanks 👍
Really enjoyed this vlog - thank you 😃🥰🥰xx
I am glad that you were able to make it to Guernsey, and also that the weather was good for once. I am actually from Guernsey and if you were cruising at the time I am thinking of I would have seen your ship. It's really exciting to know that you know about the history of the islands as there is a surprising amount for a place so small. Love your videos and keep up the good work.
Oh amazing! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Excellent thanks again Emma I love your reviews and me and my wife have been on 3 different Princess ships in 9 months and really enjoyed them. Toying with trying the MSC Virtuosa next but the reviews are putting us off a bit! Happy Cruising.
I loved Virtuosa! Very different yeah but in some ways to prefer MSC to Princess and vice versa. Lots of MSC content on my channel (and I’ve just booked another). 😊
Well done Emma. You had mostly great weather.
I've added this trip to our bucket list. It looks like fun!
Yess! Good idea. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Great video as always, it really makes me want to book this cruise when next over your way ... hopefully next year! :)
Absolutely epic review Em 👍
Super review of the cruise. Nicely done. Very cheerful explanations. Bravo.
Thank you! 😁❤️
Thanks for a very informative video. We visited Le Havre on a transatlantic cruise from NYC to Southampton a couple of years ago. We loved it! Many of the buildings, like the Volcan cultural centre, were designed by the Brasilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (who also designed Brasilia and the UN building in NYC). For any fan of postwar architecture, Le Havre is a great place to walk around. The Andre Malraux art museum is also lovely and worth visiting. We had such a great day in Le Havre and, like you, we didn't even consider going to Paris.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Another great review Emma. Thank you. We are tempted to look for something similar.
Sounds fabulous! If you like any help, we’re here: emmacruises.com/book-a-cruise/ 😀🥰
Just back from a British Isles on DCL Magic from September 11th to 18th.
We loved it !
With the passing of HM Queen Elisabeth II, it was touching to witness this historic event.
Actualy we spent more time in our cabins this time to watch BBC.
And not rain ! Just some fresh weather in Liverpool & Greenock.
Great video, love the history and fast presentation
YAY SO EXCITED!!! 🍂🧡🖤🖤👻🍃🎃🍃🍁🖤👻🍃🍂🧡🖤🖤🍁👻🍃🎃🍃🍁🖤🧡🧡🍂🍂🖤🖤👻🍃🎃🎃🍃🍁🍁🧡🧡🖤🍁👻🍃🎃🎃👻🍂🧡🧡🧡🖤🍁🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳🛳
I would book a cruise to Guinnessopolis. I completely agree with you, Emma, about the all-around promenade deck. Thank you for another entertaining video.
Haha, Thank you! 😁❤️
We did that same Itinerary about 6 years ago! So glad the weather was good for you. We had great weather as well. Now your video makes me want to do the same cruise and see different stuff!
😀❤️
That was an interesting cruise ( miss Edinburgh & highlands where family live ). Was nice too see those places in your video 😜❤️.
Not only do I enjoy your style of "reporting" I always learn something new from your videos :) And your short hair looks good on your! Cheers!
So weird that I stumbled upon this channel and watched every single video in only a few days ... thanks for making these!
Haha!! Every one?! 😂😂😂
Your presentation is wonderful. We love Brits. ❤️
Thank you! 😁❤️
Living in the USA I love it when you explain “Britishisms”!
Your videos are entertaining and helpful.
Doughnuts 🍩 are most definitely for breakfast. But I also do enjoy them in the afternoon.
Haha, thanks Michael 😊
I literally laughed out loud at 'The top thing to do in Le Havre is leave Le Havre.'
It is!! Ha ha. Sorry Le Havre ;D
Hi Emma love your videos! I’m from Liverpool and I’m so glad you enjoyed it, it’s such an underrated city
Really is!! ❤🎉
Great video, thanks Emma
So interesting, thank you. Your nails are fabulous.
I loved this video! Such a great rundown. I’m glad to know how much you like Princess. I’ll be going on my first Princess cruise on the Sapphire in 6 weeks to Mexico.
Enjoy! 😊🎉
Doughnuts for breakfast is hilarious but I'd give it a try lol
Great stuff, very informative and entertaining review
Thanks so much that’s very kind of you to say ☺️❤️
The quality of your content… Wow Emma! 🚀
Thank you, trying my best!! 😅🎉
Thanks for this super informative video, Emma! Definitely will keep it bookmarked for when we eventually do a British Isles cruise (it's on our to do list along with a Scandinavian cruise, Iceland cruise, Trans-pacific cruise, Antarctica cruise....).
There's a board game designed by Uwe Rosenberg called Le Havre, which is pretty good. Maybe if I get to that port one day, I'll just bring a copy of the game and play it there :D
Ooo! Didn’t know that. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Thank you for the excellent history stories.
You have such a wonderful sense of humor.
Yet, another masterpiece video by Emma... 😘👏👏👏🙏
If i ever decide to take a cruise, be sure that I would be asking you the questions... 👀😊
I have looked at that exact cruise and wondered if that would be a good way to see a larger part of the UK. Thanks for reviewing it!
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Hi Emma, nice video as always and btw, beautiful nails
A very groovy episode. Cute, funny, entertaining and quite informative.
Complete agree on the Guinness.. I'm sure many love the tastes of an Irish stout but in volume, no way gimme some pepsi or juice or something.
I'm so glad you liked Guernsey!! I used to live there and LOVE the bathing pools.
Very informative video. Sounds like fun.
Thanks Rich! :)
We stopped off at Le Havre on Anthem this year. Took a short taxi ride to Honfleur - absolutely amazing. Took the bus back to Le Havre which was much cheaper!
Thank you so much for this review X
I have never set foot on a cruise and I don’t think I will be able to afford it for next 10 yrs atleast. but seeing your videos makes me happy and I live my dream virtually.
Thanks so much I love this! Much appreciated ☺️❤️
Oh how I remember those steps! Going down was hard, going up was almost indescribable. The view of the bridge and the sightseeing boat down there and made it worthwhile, though.
Absolutely 😊🎉
Great Vid! Great thumbnail! 😍👀 This cruise is something I’d be interested in.. I enjoy Titanic & its history.. I’ve gotten ‘snickered’/‘snackered’ on Guinness (Irish Pub~in Germany lol) one time & it’s an acquired taste for sure.. I’m trying my Britishism on the daily Emma! 😊
Ha ha!! I love that. Thank you! 😁❤️
