    My favorite 1.d4 response by far. D4 players are, largely, looking for a positional battle, and the Old Benoni all but drags them into tactical waters.

      Yes! Many 1.d4 players prefer slow, strategic, and positional games. The Benoni unleashes an all-out tactical war.

      Thanks, yes there are many tactical lines and if white isn't careful they might lose quickly!

      @@Pegasus-Chess Great! whats your go to openings in general? As i'm looking for a new complete repertoire...What do you play sir and why?

    • @Pegasus-Chess
      @Pegasus-Chess  5 месяцев назад +1

      With White, I mainly play the English Opening and depending on Black's response, I sometimes transpose to either the Botvinnik System or the Pegasus System. With Black, I play the Scandinavian (Valencian Variation) and the Old Benoni. These openings fit my playing style and don't have too much theory. Good luck with your new repertoire!

    4:12 what if they defend the checkmate with g3?

    • @Pegasus-Chess
      @Pegasus-Chess  5 месяцев назад +1

      If they see it coming and play a move like g3, there is no immediate checkmate, but you can keep building up the pressure. The next plan for Black is to castle, play b5, develop the bishop to b7, and sometimes even push f5, depending on what White does, of course. I might cover this in another Old Benoni video in the future!

    The first line is just Sicilian, which does have a ton of theory. Regardless, good tips!

    • @Pegasus-Chess
      @Pegasus-Chess  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! The first line indeed transposes to the Sicilian. I love this line and play it in both openings.

    Yesterday I randomly thought about playing c5 against d4. I didn't know it is actually called Benoni.

    • @Pegasus-Chess
      @Pegasus-Chess  5 месяцев назад +2

      Haha that's the same way I figured out the Benoni existed many years ago 😂

      @@Pegasus-Chess can we say that Benoni is a type of Sicilian Defense?

    • @Pegasus-Chess
      @Pegasus-Chess  5 месяцев назад +1

      Some Benoni lines are similar to the Sicilian, especially those where White captures on c5 or allows Black to capture d4 with the c5 pawn.
