Best review I've seen! I managed to get my 2020 Rav4 Edge for $49,850, with rubber floor mats, bonnet protector, headlamp covers, wind shields and a full tank of fuel. Loved everything about it, when I test drove it. Now on order and just waiting for it to arrive.
. . . that is a really good price - on carsales.com.au a WA dealer is offering a 2019 model Edge Auto AWD with 14,268km's for $51,950 - there must be deals out there then to be had for a new one.
I bought mine 2020 RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser efour for $49k drive away with Rubber floor mats, side steps, roof rack and a full tank of fuel. Single tank lasted 920km on E10. 30% highway 70% city drive.
Nice review Tom. No mention of the big reason to choose Edge over Hybrid - Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD. Can shuffle torque left to right as well as front to rear. Makes for a nice drive through twisty mountain roads for an SUV. Also, the beeping on the power tailgate can be volume adjusted through settings in the dash, or can be switched from continuous beeping to single beep when opening/closing by the dealer as part of the customisable settings for the car. Just need to ask the dealer to do it.
In the US it's called the Adventure. Here in Canada it's called Toyota Trail as the name "Edge" in North America is taken by the Ford Edge which is also assembled here in Canada (Oakville, Ontario).
I think you have missed what the edge is about, my understanding is this model is a little more capable on light off roading. I would have liked to see a comparison of that with the hybrid.
$56K ?.. Wow that's a lot of money for a 1705 kg motorised pram. Why soooo heavy? Is it bigger than it looks? Lack of Hybrid is puzzling, maybe it just makes it too expensive with the Oz Peso now or the last one didn't sell well?
The front design of the Edge (particularly the horizontal grill) is so much better than the “sad face” design I have seen to date. Is this new front design specific to the Edge or is it a change made across the board to all 2021 variants?
As a car expert, you missed the point why it's not a hybrid, why it's an auto petrol. That is because edge has been designed to handle off-road better. Also why it only comes as AWD. Well, right now edge can be a hybrid.
Dude I’m so mad that they don’t offer the pano roof on the adventure model here in the US. That would’ve made this the perfect car for me. Still Love mine but boy that would’ve been nice. Great video man✌🏽😎✌🏽
Needs a 2 litre turbo. Old fashioned engine. Toyota need to get with the program. They have a 2 litre turbo in the Lexus. This car is crying out for it.
Not sure why they do space savers for cars with a little bit of off road ability, aimed at a city market maybe? Not keen driving home 300-500km on a weekend on a space saver when tyres are not available easily. That's probably why Subaru and other brands sell well.
TOYOTA RAV4 EDGE HYBRID on its way. Awesome!!! Can't wait to see it in person. I hope the entertainment system and interiors too get an update. Fingers cross for HUD for the cruiser and edge variants.
we took one of these for a test drive and were quite disappointed after setting our hearts on one. we then took the cruiser hydrid for a test drive and found it much better and pick it up from the dealer today. we had to add quite a few accessories to make it look as nice as the edge. (the edge front grill looks great , so a nudge bar was needed on the cruiser). the hybrid just drove so much better in our opinion and was far quieter.

This is the best looking RAV4. The other one looks unhappy. I don’t get how Toyota can’t integrate their exhaust better. It looks like it sits well below the car and an after thought. Also that tailgate is ssslllloooowww! It reminds me of that steamroller scene from Austin Powers!
