This video confirmed it: I'm moving to Idaho. Every "con" on this list is a pro to ME. After watching my birth city (Los Angeles) decline the way it has, I can think of nothing better than clear skies, patriotism, "loners", the outdoors, and people who reference Tom Sowell.
Wife and I have been there several times in the past two years. We live in San Diego and each time we go we talk about how cool the Boise area is. About 90 percent of shops and restaurants we have here in San Diego, you have there somewhere in the Boise area. You cant beat the no graffiti, no homeless and low crime there. Not once have we ever had anyone give us any attitude about being from California and most of the people we meet are from California. Great videos.
I'm still amazed by how many people leave their garage doors open, with tools and stuff clearly visible from the street. I think Californians have more of a reputation for wanting to bring with them their failed politics and social engineering, compared to Oregonians and Washingtonians. I still tell people, four years later, that we "escaped from Seattle", to set the tone.
We just spent a week out there in Eagle. Talking to some people, they were upset about the new developments and house prices. I kindly told them “Don’t be upset at the developers, be upset at the people selling their land to developers”.
@@livinginidaho I agree. We had the same issue in Ridgefield, WA. Tons of people started moving there, developers came in and house prices doubled. Locals were upset that it was growing so much and they didn’t like all the new houses and residents moving in. I just told them to be upset at people selling their land, not at the developers buying land. Supply and demand 🤷♂️
I moved to Eagle from east county Portland in June of 2016 before property values skyrocketed. Best decision I could have made. Quiet, safe, very little homelessness,m and very low violent crime rate.
@@TBW208 I am waiting for a senior apartment in Eagle to open up for me, and I would love to live in a quiet, peaceful city without all the crime and homelessness too.
Craig, this could be your best video yet! I loved the honesty and clarity of your rebuttals. Made me chuckle when what is noted as a reason to not move to ID was the exact reason I want to move there, great confirming facts! Keep 'em coming, thanks.
It’s simple. If God comes first, Idaho is for you. The longer you walk with God, the more you realize what really matters. That’s exactly what Idaho has to offer.
As a local that lived in Idaho almost all his life. During to COVID people just ran to Idaho and just killed our economy. It easy for them to sell a house for $800000 in CA and Buy one for $500000 in Idaho.
I like your videos about Idaho as well. I think you walk a fine line between promoting your business that caters to a lot of people from blue states/cities that are looking for a place to flee to while also telling it how it really is there and explaining why your area is a pretty nice place to be. Maybe in a few more years I'll be one of them if Idaho can stick to their state motto.
Hey Craig, I watch your videos and Brigg's videos on Idaho and specifically Boise. Born and raised native Boisean 4th Generation Idahoan 52+ years, (Can you tell I'm pretty proud of that fact? ) 😍 Anyways, the whole "Greater Idaho" issue will never happen. You have to involve Congress and the Federal Gov't to even consider this and that is something that stops this whole thing in its tracks. States can't just "move the borders" in the U.S. If Oregon was its own country and Idaho its own country... maybe. But that isn't what the U.S. is. And as Briggs said, you don't get to have all the benefits of living in rural Oregon and being away from all the chaos in Portland. We all have to make sacrifices. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
Love your videos, and clarification and perspective. Videos are amazing for knowledge and transparency. Having a lot of trouble deciding an area for my family. When would be a good day or time to contact your office for more information?
Inconvenience: My doctor, dentist, movie theater, hockey arena, ranked college football team, airport, restaurants, hiking, skiing, fishing, etc., etc., are 15-30 minutes from my West Boise home. I'd rate it extremely convenient.
Thanks a ton for these videos! I am not in the position to buy, but am wanting to move to Idaho next year to rent. Already booking my travel plans to look at where in the treasure valley area I want to go! Your videos are helping so much with narrowing my choices!
@@livinginidaho I am looking at Meridian. Not sure where within Meridian, but every video I watch and pictures I see I fall for it more and more. I have friends and clients who have lived there that only speak highly of it.
@9:01 Aberdeen, WA checking in here. The homeless/drug problem here in Kurt Cobain’s home town has left this area a city-blok of desolate and despair. People use the sidewalk as a restroom and restrooms as drug-dens, and due to the governortator’s rules the police’s hands are tied in terms of making arrests… 🤦 I do miss Idaho, Garden City was beautiful.
Being from Boise, I just wish we had better public transit infrastructure. Downtown is dead and would be so nice to have a better way to get there/ around
Been here 8 years and coming here my whole life to visit family. In my experience Idahoans are mean/rude drivers, talk a lot of smack online, but are incredibly friendly face to face. Take from that what you will.
I disagree. we have always been courteous drivers. It's the huge influx of people who drive like Californians (from everywhere) who are the rude drivers. it was nicer when the traffic wasn't all big-city.
@@juliebee61 No true Scotsmen fallacy. I've driven extensively in WA, OR, CA, NM, and ID. Idaho drivers are by far and away the most aggressive and rude i've come across. You can call them Californians if you like but you have no way of verifying that and it doesn't line up with my personal experience having driven in CA, thus not believable.
Totally, I wouldn't want to move to another city with lots of shopping. That's why Boise is the city with my values, I am a senior, and the River is the number one priority for me, and of course that most of the state is Red (Republican) too. 😉
I rented a house in 2020 in Victor Idaho when my family visited the Tetons . Wow that area is expensive. Houses there are about the same as they are here in California
Victor Idaho and the Driggs (Teton county) area have been pricey for 2 decades. I have family in Driggs and I spent most summers there and I'll tell you, the prices started getting higher around 2003 and have never come down.
🤦I'm seeing more and more Teslas up here! Traffic is crazy! Nampa is becoming an armpit. The Cali's are crazy, impatient, and well, y'all just need to change your ways. DO NOT TURN US BLUE!!
As someone who's lived in Idaho my entire life, I really love this state for the most part. The wilderness and outdoors, and even the culture is surprisingly cool for what it is. Food and entertainment are growing. Sadly as someone who cares about cost of living, reproductive rights, education, and equality- things are not getting much better on that front, unfortunately.
I couldn't agree more. I like. watching his RUclips content as well, but you can definitely tell that he is very liberal. Most of the videos he puts out are at least 50% speculation and more opinion than fact. You can tell in most of his videos he talks about how he loves Portland, LA, San Francisco and Seattle. Which to me is hilarious cause all of those cities are cesspools full of insane people who vote for insane politicians.
