Too many people aren’t doing their research before they move to Idaho or aren’t visiting enough before they move. The Idaho locals can be quite a culture shock, the cost of living is a shock, the cold winters are a shock, the lack of good medical is a shock, the amount of traffic in the Treasurer Valley is a shock, lack of good restaurants are a shock, people not being as friendly as expected is a shock, and some of the lowest wages in the country are a shock. But hey, at least it’s a Red state..except Boise does have a democrat mayor 🥴
Retired NYPD new to ADA County and it’s one huge construction zone traffic on roads made for tractors on farms that have turned 1 farm address into 250 Toll Brothers addresses!
NYPD IS SO USELESS. They're the LAZIEST COPS EVER. A bunch of useless fat slobs that only care about their over paid employment and their pensions. NYPD is useless. Never around when you need them. They seem to side with the criminals from what I've seen. Anyway enjoy your retirement in Idaho. Hopefully you are the exception and not the typical NYPD pathetic do nothing loser cop.
I moved to Idaho 37 years ago and never looked back. Full disclosure: my family is on its sixth generation here, but I lived much of my early life in another state. I feel incredibly blessed to live in waterfront splendor just outside a small mountain-lake resort town that is beautiful, safe, clean, tranquil, friendly, surrounded by spectacular scenery, and a year-around recreational paradise. Life here could not be more rewarding or less stressful.
I had family from both parents that lived in Idaho. As a kid, I hated going there because "there's nothing to do" there. As an adult, I would love to move there and buy some land. It's such a beautiful state and much less people. Maybe some day
If you want much less people go to Wyoming or Montana heck or even the Dakotas. The Treasure Valley is almost at 1 million in Idaho. Idaho is growing rapidly and traffic is becoming a nightmare.
@@jamieku513 to be fair, the family i was talking about was mostly in twin falls or there was some in the Idaho falls/Pocatello area. So if I could move there it would probably be in the Idaho falls area. However, even those areas are getting crazy
Taxes also kinda high for an alleged right leaning state. The conservatives in the legislature seem kind of sclerotic and old boyish. The state needs a Desantis or Youngkin.
Excellent point about relationships. We recently relocated to WY from the West Coast for retirement but gave Boise a close look. We didnt know anyone and still have few friends after six months. Biggest negative surprises have been the amount of xenophobia we've faced by locals, along with a couple of instances of unprovoked, insane road rage.
@@livinginidaho It was a close call but it came down to taxes. ID is lower than CA but NOT that much lower. Western WY, on the other hand, has significantly lower taxes. Over the years we spent a great deal of time in ID and twice owned vacation lots in the state. In the end, it was a very, very tough choice between Cody and Eagle.
It's sad that people who move from California are ostracized in other states. If not for a job, people are leaving because California no longer aligns with their values. Idaho was on my list along with 4 other states. I find it interesting that most Idaho realtors make videos on why not to come. In addition, I have absolutely no connections in Idaho, and I will never make friends if I move their alone.
@@wendeeb3883 Good points! During an extensive remodel we found several businesses cheated us by charging a (CA) price once they discovered we were from out of state.
