  • Tonight we put a bone stock Auto-world slot car to the test. I wanted this video to be a direct from the package to the track similar to what your average Joe just getting into the hobby would do.

      Haha I know right. I have been Talking with this guy on Facebook he says that Auto-worlds are junk and don’t run unless you modify them. I did a short video in the group but the package went off camera for a split second so some called bs and said I swapped the car so I wanted to re make it. He also said there is no way it was an Autoworld because it was running viper like speeds that’s why I ran the viper and a few other cars as well. He specifically said out of the package without doing anything so I didn’t even want to oil it just to prove they will run decent.

    Nothing wrong w/ stock Autoworld cars. I actually prefer them. A little oil here and there, run in on 9v battery for 2-3 minutes, I also like removing the magnets. Perfect speed. You can actually see the cars and you have to drive them.

      Same here. A lot of my auto world cars have the magnets taken out. I have been messing around with a little brass weight in the magnet hole.

    Nice review. Love the track layout. The 3x9 layout looks like a nice size.

      Thanks. It’s definitely a fun layout especially for the older cars. Tjets, non magnatraction, Hp7. Sometimes I wish I had longer straights when I run my high downforce cars but that’s not to often.

      Thanks a lot. My slot car season runs from around November to March so I should be putting some videos out consistently pretty soon. Welcome back to the hobby!!

    Nice. I agree, they run "ok" out of the package. Personally I have been tweaking them a bit. For my sweet spot on my tiny track, I replace the guide pin with a standard black tjet guide pin, I replace the pickup shoes with the low profile dash. I often replace the rims with BTO repop tuff ones rears and fronts, thick o-rings on the front and fresh rubber on the back. I find some of the AW Ultra-G chassis come well lubed, some need to be redone. and usually it's dry on the bottom arm pole hole, so I drop a tiny bit of the thick old red oil there. They come to life and run really well for me. I have a bunch and all of them run well. I have recently picked up a hole peener, but I have not tried working with that tool yet, the axle holes are a bit loose, so may pickup some speed and handling with that, have not tried it yet. Nice video, nice track. I usually run a 90 ohm controller @ 16 volts on my viper 3x6.

      Nice. I typically tear them down to bare chassis and peen everything. I also like to use titanium axels and after market wheels for my racers. So more show type cars I’ll keep the stock wheels and stuff. All depends what the end goal is. This video was just to show they can run straight out of the package.

    Thanks for giving us the ohms you were running at. Been trying to get information on what runs best /well with what. If you mentioned what chassis the truck was I missed it.(edit: Ultra G it's $37 on AW website, YIKES) I have never seen or heard of the"Off Road" baja trucks. My Hobby lobby has mostly kid cars like the one you ran....:) but seriously I bought a "mongoose" AW 4 gear and it runs pretty good on 12V 120 ohm controller(all I have right now). I tried the super III build kit and it does not run well at all with my track. If Hobby lobby had each car for sale as pictured instead of ; "Note: yada, yada, we are unable to ensure that you will receive this item in the style you see pictured". They would sell a lot more AW cars.

    • @TheSlotSpot
      @TheSlotSpot  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks. Yeah it’s the Ultra G. My local hobby lobby typically gets a pretty decent shipment but if your not there within a few hrs they go quick. Guys buy them for 19$ and then take them to shows and sell for 25-35. I don’t have any experience with the Super 3 cars. I do plan on doing a video this season on Ohms and how different cars react to different ohms. My slot car season runs from mid to late October till mid to late March then our motocross racing starts and the slots go away so hopefully I can get some cool videos in. Also plan on doing some giveaways so on cars I use in videos so keep your eyes open.

    It runs pretty well out of the package. I guess you can get lucky every now and then. Mine he not been great and one burned up pretty quick and AW to their credit sent me another complete chassis. Thank you.

    How you liking that 3x9 viper track? Any regrets on the layout you chose? I can’t decided if I should go with your layout or something a little longer like 3x10 or 3x12 but have an overpass.

      I love it. If I had the space I’d probably go longer but this was the max I could go. Still a super fun layout though especially for tjets.

      The track was routed by Viper Scale Racing and assembled, railed, and wired by myself. It’s a pvc type material.

      Track record for a MG+ chassis is 3.64 with an LMP style body. We ran an iroc race yesterday and the mg+ with muscle car bodies were running around 4.5 give or take.
