J.C’s cymbal beat is absolutely beautiful. Wish I had met the man.

This band was so much fun! JC was an incredible energy and optimistic artist. He loved having this band and his spirit that made us love being with him. As anyone from the Midwest jazz scene will attest, Jeff Halsey is the real deal on bass. Pianist Earl Van Riper was an institution of grace and taste. Doc was an underappreciated talent. While he played many instruments, Baritone was his main axe. He would get that big vibrating Harry Carney sound! He knew about telling a story. Gene Parker actually plays more instruments extremely well that it's weird! What a great player. Everyone in this band is/was a story and fine musicians. I miss this band. Thanks to Bob and Ruth for putting this video up.
