According to The NY Times, June 30, 1989: "NEW ORLEANS, June 29- Frank Trapani, a longtime jazz trumpeter with the Dukes of Dixieland, died of a pulmonary embolism on Monday. He was 52 years old. Mr. Trapani played with the orchestras of Charlie Barnett, Les Elgard and Billy May and with performers including Pearl Bailey, Tony Bennett, Lou Rawls and Quincy Jones. He joined the Dukes of Dixieland in 1974, and for the last 12 years was the band's front man, introducing each number to the audience." Frank Trapani replaced Frank Assunto when he died in 1974.
