You can't beat this comedy, the 70's and 80's were a great era for British Comedy. This and Only Fools & Horses are my fave. Unbeatable. Michael Crawford played the part so well.
I always thought One Foot in the Grave was the sinister version of Some Mothers Do Ave Em, the whole idea of one sympathetic man against the world, but with 90s cynicism.
Wow. No one mentioned 'ello 'ello!! The "downed British airman, masquerading as a French police officer" wasn't a huge part of the show, but I think I'll always remember his role and some of his scenes. Like the scenes that find him trying to explain to the locals "I have a long distance dick..." You see, rather than have the characters speaking in English, then German, then French, the characters would speak in a French accent to indicate that they were speaking French, or they'd speak with a German accent to indicate they were speaking German, or they'd speak with an English accent to indicate speaking English. The crashed British airman cum French policeman thinks he speaks very good French, but you can tell from his poor French accent that he's actually quite bad at it. And so, instead of talking about a duck that can travel farther than messenger pigeons, he ends up talking about a long distance dick. Then there's the way the policeman always says "Good Moaning," meaning good morning. This has always stayed with me and regardless of time of day (or night) I always greet people with a "Good Morning."
D'ya know, David Jason was originally wanted for the role of Frank. It was only because he was working in theatre that they chose Michael Crawford. As funny as DJ is, I couldn't see him playing this role.
I think it’s brilliant how Michael Crawford ,did all his own stunts 😂 I absolutely love the show, lol why can’t we have good comedy in this day and age 😂
"It was one of those juggerynuts Betty" 😂😂. Michael Crawford was a comedy genius. They don't make them like this anymore. British comedy at it's absolute best.
We were so spoilt in the 1960s and 70s for quality comedies, so many wonderfully scripted shows were produced in this golden period. The humour had a warmth and realism to it, that is so sadly lacking in modern day comedies. Great acting , brilliant writing , made this a vintage era in British comedy , when so many legendary shows were produced.........fond memories
Where is the up on top fairy lights with Calais juggernaut, knock off with simple Christmas tree & Frank Spenser 🤣👍 Very intelligent Man Michael Crawford and he can sing like the angels above.
I have the complete series on dvd. Totally BRILLIANT!!! Micheal Crawford Such a really talent man & for those who don't know Micheal did ALL his own stunts inthis series. 👍👏👏👏👏👏😁😀😃😄😆😉
The 70s and 80s best for comedies we had only fool's and horses, porridge, dad's army, one foot in the grave, Mr bean, Monty python, Fawlty towers, open all hours now we have love Island and dancing on Ice take me back to the bloody 80s
Multi-Region DVD Player. I have had two. The first one was awful in that the DVDs would freeze all the time. I bought one from Philips 10 years ago that still works well; not one issue. Amazon sells some good ones.
She was so fit I remember when I grew up I always couldn't keep my eyes off her lol P.s anyone a fan of frbaks voice you HAVE to see Steve coogans impression of him lol it's hilarious
It's a shame the BBC or Brit box only have one or two episodes of Some Mothers Do Ave Em. I was in the studio audience for the Moving House Episode 1978.
This clip is not one of the best in my opinion. Taken out of context I think it's a bit lame. Don't get me wrong, I used to love this sitcom as a teenager. The 45, (now 70) 'fools' who gave it the thumbs down have probably never seen the sitcom and are coming to it 'cold' as it were. Some American sitcoms I find a bit tedious too, mainly because I have never seen the sitcom before, and the characters are simply not well formed in my head. They may not have a clue about English comedy because they have not been exposed to it, simple as...
Betty must have the most patience of any person I’ve ever known!
She really did! 😂
Well she wasn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed either
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha!😂

Mr Bean was hilarious as well.

Betty's voice is so right, that sound of slight despair about to crack tone lol

I agree but he didn’t write the script.
Who would have thought that he would have become the Phantom…the Best Phantom…
Unbelievable voice!❤
This guy is THE Phantom of the Opera! Michael Crawford is AMAZING!
Hi😊,I went to watch Phantom at Manchester Opera House in the 80's 😊Fantastic Show 🎉
The amazing Michael Crawford, love him and the show!

Totally agree it's so dry comedy and dirty comedy today this is just brilliant
Rowan Atkinson, Matt Edwards and Spencer are amazing comedians!
What a shame we no longer have comedy shows like this any more ..
I'm sure there are many who agree with you..first class entertainment.
Great writers and a lot of these actors learnt their craft on the stage. Michelle Dotrice has gone back to the theatre again where she started out.
Laughed so much when I saw the Christmas tree when I had a bad day this comedy series cheers me up no end
Michael Crawford IS the King of comedy
2022 and this still cracks me up
How cute is he, his little voice.
MC as FS is so adorable, actually he’s cute in everything and my favorite Phantom for always!❤❤❤
Where is the up on top fairy lights with Calais juggernaut, knock off with simple Christmas tree & Frank Spenser 🤣👍
Very intelligent Man Michael Crawford and he can sing like the angels above.
It's amazing that this funny guy could become the first (in fact second) and greatest Erik in The Phantom of the Opera musical!
How Betty keeps a straight face is beyond me
This still has me in stitches….I was about 4 when this was broadcast….

"Jessica wants to see the Queen...she's never seen the Queen before!" XD
A comedic genius and the most beautiful male voice ever in the same package.
The "did i do that?" Guy before the real "did i do that?" Guy came to be😄
I love Michael Crawford, but I have never been able to see this show since I'm an American. It's really nice to find some clips from it! Very funny!
Multi-Region DVD Player. I have had two. The first one was awful in that the DVDs would freeze all the time. I bought one from Philips 10 years ago that still works well; not one issue. Amazon sells some good ones.
Betty was so fit👌

This brings back good old days
Priceless Frank Spenser 😂
Wish they could make comedies like these again
Always love this show
What a talent he is, and not a bad singer to boot
Holy Night, by Michael Crawford is the best version Christmas song ever.
What a voice!!!!!! Better? Impossible.
I love him
Not a bad singer?. He's a phenomenal singer, ever listen to him singing in the Phantom of the Opera?
They're both adorable.
Your the best the both of you well done
After the Sacha Baron Cohen+ Frankie Boyle era of 2000s, this is from my fav era of comedy.
How can one person make so much balls up ☺
I suggested naming my son Frank after the one and only Mr Spencer. Classic. We chose a different name. Wonder why 😊
Loved this show brilliant! 😂😂
Best actor a true Great.
Hard to believe he became one of the manliest, macho characters in musical history!
ha ha ha, classic! Love it! Good old frank spencer
She was so fit I remember when I grew up I always couldn't keep my eyes off her lol

What an unbelievable unique character
Soo good
Got the big roots!!
i love his voice
He is so darn cute.
Oh Christmas with Frank oh LOL💜🤩🌞
Michael Crawford has made history with his singing perhaps I will make history when he sees my Wikipedia and says a few words on my behalf.
THANK YOU MR PICKERING AND MR EAGLE'S HEAD OFFICE AUCKLAND
How Betty was attracted to Frank was a mystery. She must have been desperate, lol.
He is good looking. Almost like a West End or Broadway star. 😉
"Red Devil to base, Red Devil to base!" Lol
I always did pity Betty.
She's moved to tears at times when Frank's shenanigans becomes a bit much.
What a sitcom.
17 people who disliked this have no sense of humour
Yes agree some part of the brain is closed to humour ah well that's their loss !!
Right you are!
@MGTOW REVELATIONSTrue!
Lee Evans must have been influenced by Frank Spencer during his comical development.
Norman Wisdom maybe too?
@@personalpc7439 he says not for norman wisdom I always thought that too
Definitely influenced by Norman Wisdom
Still love give me some think to enjoy in this hard time in covid 😘😅
Oh Framk you are a funny man.

Dailymotion has then all.
Thanks. I've already gone and bought the DVD box set. Also this and many other Seventies British comedies are on a site called Vumoo.
This program is so funny
Brillian programme, for a time when the BBC knew what they were doing.
Damn useless nowadays.
