Hey guys! Check out the most recent blink-182 cover (Parking Lot) along with the whole blink-182 cover playlist! ruclips.net/video/jWMlbS0fqxA/видео.html
nice drumming and really love the sound of your kit, always wanted that sound. hope to play drums again and have a kit nearly like yours :) good cover btw
How I enjoyed seeing you play this song! One of the best to play from that album. You did a variation of the fills in the pre-chorus (or w/e it is) which I really liked! Excellent job as usual. You know how picky I am about the Blink covers ;) You also make me really longing for my own drum kit now and do covers myself! Inspiring.
GO DRUM Vincent, and inspire people with your incredible drumming! For some reason I ended up playing the hi-tom with both hands, I've previously always played the eight-notes with my right, but it just changed for the recording haha! But yeah; that's how I've always heard it.
Its hard to find folks who can cover blink 182 songs properly for travis is an awesome asshole with all his rudimens but seriously mate you just nailed all of what you uploaded.. you have my respect for that.
this is the second of your videos I have watched and am really enjoying them. How long have you been playing and, is it a safe assumption, that Travis Barker is your main influence? You are really terrific. Keep it up
Thank you very much, Cathie! Glad to hear you're enjoying the content enough to check multiple videos! Travis Barker was definitely my main influence starting out, about 15~ years ago, and is still one of my main influences - even though I pull inspiration from a great amount of drummers nowadays! Thank you very much for the kind words.
Man, this song. First blink song and one I've always wanted to cover. But dude, you nailed it. Hats off to you. Btw, since you're covering blink, could you do Dogs Eating Dogs? It's my favourite blink song.
Hey man I also use a Presonus interface how do u make everything sound so nice? I occasionally get a good sound but a lot of the time it seems a little harsh and I try to mess with the effects and everything but I can never find anything perfect. Also do u have any suggestions for a 4 mic setup? Thanks a lot man and great cover
The interface doesn't do much more than make sure you get a good recorded sound, and depending on what your microphones are, the drums, the room, the placements, etc etc etc, it might or might not require a bunch of post mixing. In that case, it comes down to understanding frequencies, and mainly using eq's, compressors and reverb! For 4 mics, I would play around. Try two overheads, bass drum + snare drum. Try different placements, but with these mics. If you care less about stereo, you could also try OH+bass drum+snare+in between toms (depending on mic ) - play around and see what you find! Don't think of the OH as solely cymbal mics, try to grab the sound of the whole drumset :)
Awesome man..! It sounds amazing. I have a question for you. Don’t you have any problems with copyright.? Or what do you do to upload covers of music protected by copyright..?
Hmm, I'm not sure what way to interpret your question! Are you asking how I take them out as in transcribing them to know what to play, or if I'm taking them out as in doing a drumless track?
There's a bunch of steps I do. First of all, I try to achieve a sound close to the original recording as you already know, through tuning and micing. Then it gets to mixing, where I tweak towards this even more. The next step is that once my sound is quite similar to the original recording through eq's and compressors mainly, I compress and limit the output channel. I keep my drums louder than the original track, but due to the compressors etc, the surrounding frequencies (guitars etc) gets pushed up while my recorded drums are both louder than the original drums, but also preventing them to get as loud. It kind of creates an illusion of that there aren't any original drums, unless you play something completely off/miss something etc, then it'll come cracking through!
awesome one. I'm having so many problems mixing my drums at the moment. Whatever I do, it sounds really compressed and distorted.. I'm using a quite good and new Yamaha mixer..
Thanks buddy! Try bringing the levels down of everything and start from a lower level! It's easy to keep crankin' it up, raising the volume of what you think isn't heard enough; but sometimes it's better to bring everything else down instead. So start soft!
This is at least a major step towards the sound! ruclips.net/video/A-FTcEoRNRc/видео.html - and then the rest is done in the mix! I'll try to cover that sometime in a later Tutorial!
Hey there, Stephen! First of all, thanks a lot! The sicking is just standard hand-to-hand! I could break it down further for you tonight if you'd wish. But yeah, standard hand-to-hand right hand lead based on 16th notes!
Alright, so let's see if I can write it in a tangible way through text.. First you have Hi-hat+snare and bass-drum alternating 8th-notes. Hands-Kick-Hands-Kick-Hands-Kick-Hands. 1-&-2-&-3-&-4.. Then on the '&' of 4, you're playing RLR on the snare, sixteenth-sixteenth-eighth, with the eighth landing on 1. Then you have '&' of 1 + 2 on the rack tom, which means 8th notes. After that it's 16th notes through the rest of it. starting on '&' of 2 you play alternating sticking, RLRLRLRLRL. SN-SN-RACK-SN-SN-SN-SN-RACK-FLOOR-FLOOR. And you end with a crash + kick on 1. So the sticking is; (H for hands, L for left, R for right, K for kick) H-K-H-K-H-K-H-RLR-L-R-RLRLRLRLRL. Orchestrated like this; (H for Hi-hat + Snare , S for Snare, R for Rack, F for Floor) H-K-H-K-H-K-H-SSS-R-R-SSRSSSSRLL. Makes sense? Haha. Tricky through text.
Davefox - Not sure if my right hand crash had cracked here again. I cut the cracks out but it only helps for a while, then starts breaking again. So maybe!
Thanks for the kind words, and for the suggestion! I'll consider it, but I believe there are many other blink songs I'd rather cover! But I'll keep it in mind!

Thank you so much, Matheus!
Is that a crash/ride you're using? Sounds great both ways! Very smooth playing as always!
The ride is a Zildjian A Sweet Ride, 21" Brilliant finish! Always loved it, Travis Barker introduced me to it.
this is the second of your videos I have watched and am really enjoying them. How long have you been playing and, is it a safe assumption, that Travis Barker is your main influence? You are really terrific. Keep it up

No, no problems. I don't get any money as I don't own the copyright, but I'm fine with that.
Recuerdo que esta cancion tenia dificultades para tocarla. Te quedo muy bien el cover Saludos!
Yeah, definitely! Thanks buddy!
Awesome sause! I have a question! Do you take out drums from your covers? If so, then how?
Hmm, I'm not sure what way to interpret your question! Are you asking how I take them out as in transcribing them to know what to play, or if I'm taking them out as in doing a drumless track?
Yea, like making the track as drumless as possible haha.

Wow! That seems like a lot of work! I just change the volume of the whole track haha
Love your style man
Thanks a ton, my friend!

Really glad to hear you think so, Jans! Thanks.
Great job! Keep it up.
Thanks!
how did you get this great sound?
This is at least a major step towards the sound! ruclips.net/video/A-FTcEoRNRc/видео.html - and then the rest is done in the mix! I'll try to cover that sometime in a later Tutorial!
Hey what is the sticking for that first fill? It sounds amazing. Also great cover 👍
Hey there, Stephen! First of all, thanks a lot!
The sicking is just standard hand-to-hand! I could break it down further for you tonight if you'd wish. But yeah, standard hand-to-hand right hand lead based on 16th notes!
Maximiliam Andersson oh okay thanks. Breaking it down would probably help more as I haven't been drumming for too long thanks again
Alright, so let's see if I can write it in a tangible way through text..
