Out of MANY videos on oil changes, yours was the first to actually show where the engine oil drain was...Thank you! Even the user and service manuals do not show exactly where it is.
@@montemania198210I have a question have you ever put a snow blade on your ranger? I have a 2005 snow blade and bought the Polaris 2878011 HD Plow Mount. I’m trying to figure out how to attach a blade to this. Any information would help! Love your videos on these older rangers.
Thank you for the video! I remembered that I needed to burp the system after changing the engine oil but couldn't remember how I did it. Yours is the first video I've seen after watching a dozen others that actually shows that.
There is a filter in line behind the sump tank at the bottom where the return line from engine comes in to oil tank that needs to be cleaned every other oil change just remove clean it and replace it no need to replace with new one just keep cleaned out its bad about collecting sludge and block return in that area . Good helpful video thanks .
Attention! It takes almost a full qt to fill to the plug level on that rear diff. 18oz fills 3/4” below the fill plug. I filled mine to the bottom of the plug and it took a full qt. Opinions are 50/50 on whether fill to the bottom of fill plug is bad. Some do it as a rule. Some say OMG you’ll ruin your diff. 😅
I have a 2009 ranger 500 EFI 4x4 and the Gearcase (Transmission) takes 43.6 oz to fill or two bottles not one. otherwise great video thank you for the help
I have an '02 6x6 with 2 rear diffs. Do they both use the same type fluid? Also did you ever show pulling the shift fork shaft out of the old transmission? Mine grinds going to High range and I might try repairing myself.
The video was great best one I’ve seen on. I have a 2005 same as this one but could not find the check/fill plug for the transmission is there a different spot any suggestions
You aren't crazy! I have a 2005 and the fill plug is not in the same location as this video. It is an 8mm Allen (same as the drain plug) above on the right side of the transmission. I even looked in the owner's manual and mine is different. So strange.
Thank you. Fuel filter is in-line close to gas tank. I have a video showing how to rebuild fuel system. Unfortunately Polaris stopped using grease fittings which was a stupid move. The only grease fitting on it is at the yoke for front driveshaft we’re it attaches to transmission.
I just picked up one of these rangers and it has a second battery under the seat right there by the oil reservoir. Is that normal why would it have 2 batteries? Did yours have 2? Do I need both?
I have a 2004 model Polaris Ranger 4x4 that is shutting off after I run the machine for a few minutes. Once it cools it will crank up again. Your thoughts on this is appreciated. I've been told it could be the fan not working properly.
Could be a number of things. However what comes to mind is something electrical is getting hot and shutting down. I would check when it happens the fuel pump make sure it’s pumping and also check for spark, could be pump or coil heating up and shorting out. If both are ok see if she’ll fire off with starting fluid, if it does then that’s a indication the carburetor is vapor locking.
Had the same issue. Under the hood there are 3 black regulater boxes. The small bottom one regulates the fuel and pump. I jumped the outer two wires bypassing it. I installed a fuel pump with two outlets after the pump. One to carb and the other back to the tank which I drilled a hole and installed a grommet. Downside is the pump will always run when key is on. Upside you don't have to pay 250-300 for a used part if you can find it that is.
No. Milk on cap is water/moisture in system. If drained oil is milky then it’s either coolant in system or water intrusion from drowning engine in water. (Seen bad oil cap let water in) If drained oil looks fine then it’s breather system in need of replacement. Milky condition is never good.
In my high humidity, moist, summer environment (North Georgia), I've found a bit of milky coating under the oil cap but none in the oil itself. IMHO... little to worry about. It wipes away readily.
@@mrdickjurgensen good day sir. That is perfectly normal. Check your breather filter sometimes new one helps reduce it. Other than that it’s normal trust me I know humidity, Houston here lol.
@@montemania198210 I'll check my breather filter as you suggest. I just changed my oil this morning after posting to this thread and my oil was quite dirty and long overdue for changing.... but there was no indication (thank goodness) of moisture in the oil itself. Great video BTW.... very inspiring/helpful indeed! On a different note: I took off my skid plate long ago so I'm careful where I drive my 6x6 Ranger 500. It makes inspections and maintenance on the underside of the UTV so much easier and cleaner.
Thank you. Yes the only difference is yours has a SRA instead of the IRS. So your rear diff is part of axle housing. Same procedure removing fill plug, remove drain plug, fill to threads of fill plug hole.
I run T-6 Rotella 5W-40 in mine with never a problem , Castrol 5W-20 Synthetic In the Trans with 3oz. Of Lucas Oil Stabilizer , Mobil 424 in the Demand Drive front pumpkin & 75W-90 Hypoid in the Rear !! Polaris Does NOT manufacture nor bottle their Oil , it's Contracted out !!

Thanks bro for the video. Excellent job making the video without wasting a lot of time with nonsense. I appreciate you
Excellent video!! Very well done and informative. I have a new-to-me 2006 500 Ranger that needs fluids changed... I'm ready to get after it now.
Good job, you did it properly unlike people I have paid to do this job.
Thank you sir. I’ve seen my fair share of bad jobs myself.
great video. I have this exact vehicle. I'm having a hard time getting the engine cover off. I mean the seats and cover all the way to the rear.

There's a backed out bolt on the engine mounting bracket. Visible when you are showing the engine oil drain location.
Thank you for the well thought out video
Good show! If I want to check oil pressure, where would be the plug?

Hi , I have a 2004 ranger 500 and was wandering what advice you have on making it quieter?
Hey, I'm looking at buying a 2002 ranger 6x6. Do you have any tips on what to check before buying?
Do you have to take off and clean the fitting on the back side of the oil tank at the bottom?
Great job. Super helpful!
Thank you and you’re very welcome
Hi this is Gary is the oil filter for a 500 and a700 the same.

Where do you get a cap for angle drive fluid bottle for rear differential
I can't reach the oil drain. I know it's not ideal but on my 2004 6x6 I crank it over a few times to get that extra oil out.
Good video, clear and simple.
How many hours this ranger have?
The video was great best one I’ve seen on. I have a 2005 same as this one but could not find the check/fill plug for the transmission is there a different spot any suggestions

What happens if you don’t pinch off the sump after doing the oil? Will the air get out regardless?

Do you have a link to the gun rack you have in roof ? Thanks
Hello,
I picked up a 2003 polaris ranger and looking at the old manuals it says use oil 0 - w40. Is the PS4 5w 50 the correct one? Thanks!
Great video. Thanks.

Apparently the Rotella T6 5w40 is superior to the Polaris oil…a lot of guys are using the Rotella and having less problems with their engines…
So dumb they don't use a universal bolt for the drain and fill plugs.

Thanks. I just one gave to me
14 minutes looks like there was a loose engine mount bolt to frame.
Damn, my car actually runs 10w-50 lol. Maybe this will be cheaper hahaha
If a filter looks close can I use it even if it is wrong part number?
2917 2017 polaris ranger full size 570efi can I use 10w30????
I would use the correct filter, even if it looks same it’s what’s inside that matters. Also do not run 10w30 in a 570. 5w50 or 10w50 only.
