What would we do without Partzilla videos? Thanks so much. Handy tip... when you are draining the transmission oil, you can use a half funnel or form-a-funnel to keep the oil from draining on to the forward skid plate and making another mess to clean up.

I wonder what the equivalent generic versions are of these fluids. Like 75w140 gear fluid front or rear, ATF for the transmission? I'm assuming there's no wet clutches so does the 5w50 oil have to be designed for motorcycles or could it be formulated more for a car?

The front diff being low on gear oil, if for say owner of the Polaris never had done any maintenance. I'd say there was not enough gear oil put in at the factory when the bike was built. Even if you buy a atv new do not assume all fluids are correct capacity fill, check them first to be sure.

I own -11 850 XP and i needed to install power commander on it, because in Finland Tractor registered ATV's speed limit is 40 Kmh. Now i dont have limiter on it. Can you use the same pumper for all three of the fluids and not worry about them mixing slightly, like with what's left of the previous fluid in the tube? Great video bye the way. I'm sure this procedure is quite similar for the 2016 SP 850 model. Thanks.

    • @PartzillaParts

Maybe the age and usage of the fluids goes to show the quality and durability of the polaris products... at the same time giving evidence that all the extra service checks and fluid changes are another marketing strategy, clearly designed to target the uninformed and inexperienced into believing in “regularly scheduled maintenance” being nessecary, just to sell more products and pay for an hourly tech rate... thanks for the proof that we can stretch beyond and safely get 2x-3x the life span from our fluids. 👍😎👍

I have a question? During the transmission oil change, I notice part of my drain plug was shaved off and the was something that I can't see but can feel with my finger is hanging in there and am wondering what might that be. Any ideas?

How do you feel about flushing out the gearbox with a cleaner of some sort? I would do that before refilling. That would clear out any debris

Shouldn't be necessary, if there is that kind of debris, you'll need to do a lot more than spray it. The debris should collect at the bottom. If anything, run some oil through to flush it.
