Can you review Long Lake homes?

I thought I smelled a flamethrower in here ... lol. My home in the DFW area is an Ashton Woods home. I bought it in the early 2000's and Ashton Woods had a good rep back then. Back then you were allowed to pick out stuff from what I recall (not just buy packages). There were a few blunders I caught in time during the build process and one that wasn't, and that one was never really corrected "adequately". Then I had foundation problems, but so does pretty much every neighbor of mine (and others in the DFW area) whether Ashton Woods or not. I think one of the important things is to pray you get a good builder (the person overseeing the actual build process in your community) that can catch stuff before screw ups. If you get a bad one, it probably won't matter much who the homebuilder is. I'm looking in the Houston area for a move now and I was looking at Perry homes and Drees. The Perry home had quite a few bizarre "errors" in the model home including cracks running away from door corners and one "fix" where they looked like they did a poor job of covering up another crack. Not a good first impression of a builder when walking into a model home and seeing stuff like that. Good job on the video, and I like how you are open to say the bad things as well as the good things about homebuying rather than just sounding like a 1980s used car salesman (*cough*).

Thank you for sharing your experience with Ashton Woods! I agree…all builder experiences are very very dependent on the construction manager overseeing the build. I feel since the pandemic a lot of home
Builders have struggled with quality and consistency. They have also subtly eliminated standard features to keep costs lower. You really have to do a lot of research before picking a builder and see some of the non model completed homes in whatever community you are thinking about to really get an idea of what you can expect.

I appreciate your honesty ( good and bad about any of the builders). It is refreshing to hear from a realtor.

I am one of the homes in league city 2 years of waiting on them for this mold issue with them not taking responsibility for their build!

Can you do more individual builder reviews from entry level to high end? I enjoy these for research purposes 😊

Yes! More coming soon. Working with an inspector to walk the homes and builders and do a review together.
