BTW, I forgot to explain, but the scenes with all the women in red dresses - MINO is dressed as a king. The women are there to serve for the king, looking at their clothes, most likely sexual services. So the scene represents how MINO has all these women that are willing to satisfy him, however he wants THAT woman. The one that he feels is the one who can truly make him satisfied and full. This is way kpop fans who dont understand korean SHOULD NOT judge song lyrics based on literal english translation. We simply WILL NOT understand the actual meaning without an explaination.
well tbh even from the start you can tell its a sensual song.... i love listening to kpop and i dont speak korean. you can tell by the beat and visuals of most songs what message the artist is trying to express.
@@bloom.5571 Some song might sound sensual but could end up a sad song (Ex: House of Cards - BTS) It sounds like a song you could do things do *hehe* but the lyrics are pretty sad.
“You’re my main and I’m your chewing gum” this is a metaphor that I’ve though about. Because chewing gum, it has a great taste until it doesn’t and basically when the taste disappears you spit your gum out. So basically the girl is his main lover and for her, mino is just a chewing gum and when his taste is over for her, she will throw him away. Its just a thought i had :)
I also liked that metaphor but I thought it was more like mino saying that the girl, to him, is a full meal (main dish) and would satisfy his hunger. But him, to the girl, is only chewing gum which while tasty does nothing to satiate her hunger. So it's like he knows he can't satisfy her long term, because she eventually needs to eat real food.
I'm curious, why is your vid the only one with a bunch of "commentors" who criticized mino? I mean the song is charting so well and well received by the GP in korea. I mean here we have a korean but none of them are attacking here?

When I was a translator in the fanpage, it took me 6 hours to translate one of his songs Shoot (with the notes about double meanings) into my language 😂 When Danny said "It took 10 hours." I was like "I feel you Danny, I feel you." 😂 First of all, thank you so so much for your efforts Danny 🙏 None of ICs couldn't dare to translate this because of rap lyrics and not to lead anyone misunderstandings. And it didn't surprise me. Song, all things in happened lyrics and music video... Because this is Song Mino and everything related with Song Mino is like a piece of art. @@greenikkie5334 yes, exactly 😶 I still have doubts about my translations from time to time because as a translator you have to find the closets meaning in the culture/language that you're translating into or you have to find a way to express the meaning in your culture 😭 At this point, @DKDKTV Danny and David really deserve a standing ovation. I really respect them a lot 🙏
Just what he said with his album name, it was named XX because everything can be imagined,, so i guess mino wanted us to come up with our own ending in fiance..thanks dkdktv
In my personal interpretation of the song, I think MINO is referring to his own fiancé. In the MV, MINO is shown as a king (who usually have several queens and women that are only allow a relationship with king). One of his fiancé or a lady who ended up marrying with him bc of the situation was staying still (not letting him in to her boundary) Now, she was in love with other guy so she escaped from his kingdom. This makes more sense for the finding hide & seek part and the “blue bird” quotation. As the song hits the climax the king (MINo) is frustrated & sexually craving that he says sth like “where my bxxxxes at Fiancé” It was fun bc depending on your perspective you can see both a really pure boy who loves someone’s fiancé or a corrupted king who lost one of his fiancé
This is so helpful. There are a lot of translators out there but this is the most crystal clear interpretation I've ever heard. Even ICs gave up translating this. Hahaha. Mino loves wordplay so much making his songs a masterpiece. Thanks so much dkdktv! Hope you can help more international kpop fans in understanding songs 😊💕
Both options are right👌🏻👌🏻 It’s actually Mino, but Maino is kinda nickname, fanboys usually use Maino instead of Mino, and Mino refers himself as Maino in his songs, you can hear it a lot)) same way Zico call himself Ziaco in his songs, they are close friends so I think it’s their thingy😂
Multifandom trash if you look at the Hangul for his solo music and basically music in general Minho uses 미노 - MINO not 민호 - Minho so its is pronounced M-eye-no not min-ho. Also he introduces himself in songs as M-EYE-NO much like ZI-A-CO (Zico)
@@solaawosika2986 i think if they will pronounce it as 'm-eye-no', it will be written as 마이노 but since hangul is read in syllables his name will be pronounced as mi-no (미노). I think it was shortened from song minho to mino from his debut, and then he just like to call himself as 'maino'. I just think that is how it progressed.

Some spanish translaters are literally going crazy because in this album he put a lot of refereces that nobody understands even they tell us that koreans can't explain a lot of thoses references. He is a freacking genius, i'm a proud mom. Thanks for explained that.
I heard this song before and thought it was pretty good but after you explaining all the cultural context and wordplay behind it my mind is blown. This song has become art to me. Thank you so much for this, it's changed how I see this song and Mino.
This is what I dind't know I needed. Honestly when I saw you were explaining this one. I was like isn't a pretty obvious song? But I was wrong. I wish you would explain the whole album because I'm sure every song has hidden meanings I can't understand. Anyway loved this song and thanks for explaining it.
I find your videos to be really fascinating. As someone whose interest in Korea in general started by listening to Korean music, I find that format to be a great bridge between the two. Hopefully, it reaches more people as I feel that with kpop's growing popularity in the west, videos like "[insert bands name] being SEXY" or "IDOL FAILS?!" are not really cutting it for most people anymore. ((I also hope it reaches more people bc you guys are hardworking and have a great thing going, you deserve more recognition))
I think you got something wrong. Feed water into my bottomless pit it means that he is so thirsty for her and his desire can never be furfilled so he will want more and more from her. We have in my country a similar expresion that means being too greedy, so I think the line has a sexual conotation meaning his greed for her....
Mino has always been a genius with wordplays and i am so so so glad i found this vid!!! You explained it very well and tq for your effort to make us non natives understand it in mino’s context. Kudos
probably relates to him choosing his "fiance" or the woman hes searching for as a king/emperor since in ancient times, that's how emperors chose their wives in Asia (?) I'm guessing
Also i guess there's something else, if you see in the first part the lady in the field is wearing blue, and on the part with the concubines, there's one in the first row apparently with a blue ribbon. Maybe the girl he thought he wanted and needed ended up as just one of many or she was one like them all along?
I don't know if any of you noticed but at 9:42 on the front, one of the lady has a blue tie...blue bird ? Maybe it is like explained, he was looking for a blue bird when he already had one. And for me it resonates with the bottomless pots line where even if he has the girl, he will still be empty inside.
daaaaaaamn, i still so hype with this song, i was like searching about the meaning but still don't understand and you guys upload thisssss!!!? this is just perfect >
Omg thank you danny!!!! Mino’s songs are always the hardest to explain since it’s so packed full with references and wordplay haha. Mino’s songs usually tend to be very sensual in nature so no surprise about the lyrics, that’s his charm ♥️🌚
Wow, how fast can you find all the things behind lyrics?😱 Fascinating!!😍 Like I would never know that blue bird means happiness!😂 or the game! Love your videos!!!💜
Even though I was a bit confused by the lyrics and MV... I would have NEVER thought about this! Thank you for the explanation tho, those videos always help me understand those songs better
Can I just say...that I'm am soooooooo mf-in thankful that you told us the name of the song that was sampled in Mino's song!!! You saved me A TON of time that I would've spent researching (cutting a clear sample, Shazaming, looking up the credits for the song, etc...). You are amazing. Subbed. Thank you!
the way i understood the blue bird part is this way : since mino is obsessed with blue roses and likes them for their meaning as symbolizing the impossible and the unattainable. Calling her ''my blue bird'' is like calling her impossible and unreachable. and there is this scene where mino was in the eye of a crying blue bird (he drew that bird on the wall himself btw) which shows his weeping for the impossible lady.
Mino himself said in the direct message for XX album that the reason he always uses blue rose is because when his mind was confused at the time, he saw a blue rose. When he searched the meaning behind it, it symbolizes something impossible & unattainable before..but its meaning changed & now it means hope & miracle which he finds unique 😉
Okay seriously i got goosebump when i see this explaination.. Mino such a genius lyricist!! I stant this talent so much!! Thanks for the explaination Mr 🙏😊
Cuz meenho is his Korean name so it's odd that his stage name doesn't sound like it but sounds like the word "mine" ... like it doesn't compute because if you spelled his Korean name minho you'd say it meenho so your brain thinks i=ee
Awesome, perfect, explanation of this song and video! I'm an American scholar of Korean art and when I first heard that sample in this song I was just like . . . wow, this could not be any more perfect. Thank you for bringing all this together for non-Korean K-pop fans to understand. Also, on the chorus, he's pulling on vocals from a lot of trot vocal stylistics too.
ive just spotted something : if you like more at the choreography, it totally make sense w the meaning of the song ; at the first verse and chorus, mino don't pay attention at all to the others women (back dancers) thinking about the woman he loves, like when a girl pass in front of him he doesn't even look at her. as the song evolve he getting more and more 'crazy' (as you can see in the second verse) and more interesed in other women (it's reaching, first he just look at a girl, second he touch her chin and last he dance sensually w her. in the second chorus he dance w them and all, looking at them like a predator. and finally as the song is reaching w more and more intense beat, the lyrics is getting more sensual and all and at the end it seems like he is completely confused!
This is the best series. Thank you guys so much for your hard work and research. You really help non-Korean speakers appreciate the music and meaning more.
he intends to put it open ending because as his album "XX" refers to or it is means anything can be imaginable. i was laughing when you reach the dog thing omg hahahahahah because when i read it i was oh oh it is mino this is mino hahahahah. but really he put it out very complicated and he searches a lot to came up with this wow mino wow
Thx for the interpretation. That's why Mino asked to pay more attention to the lyrics and wordplay in his songs (Deep & double meaning). Genius Mino slays all💙
Love your explained series!! Can I make a request, please? If you have time can you make an explained video for SHOOT ( 쏘아 ) by Mino and Haha? Its an old song, but if you can do it I think it'll be amazing! Thank you! Keep up the good work!!
This video gave me goosebumps. 1. Because Mino was such a great artist he was able to write this song (not only this song but the entire album) without using vulgar words and Mino was such a poet himself the depth of this song was something. He deserve this solo album. 2. Because you were able to explain the entire video and it really does makes sense. Also, i love how you explain everything like it’s very clear to us what you wanted to say. Thank you 😊
Lol nope. Blue bird symbolizes happiness so in my opinion he's using the term to mean he's looking for his happiness or looking for the woman aka his happiness. It could be interpreted either way.
BTW, I forgot to explain, but the scenes with all the women in red dresses - MINO is dressed as a king. The women are there to serve for the king, looking at their clothes, most likely sexual services. It's thirsty lol but it's also about longing. Like the chewing gum line can be interpreted similarly to 'being a piece of cake' or being 'easy' so to mino, the woman is his main but to her he's barely significant
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bless you

About the blue bird that it was there all along..there was a girl with the blue ribbon..meaning she was there all along..
Thank you for this video! 💙
Oh wow I JUST saw that after reading your comment. Nice observation! Thanks
True...i also also see the girl with blue ribbon at the front...wow Mino wordplay is mindblown
to add to it. toward the end of the movie. you see him standing with blue hair in the eye of a blue bird. Then you later see him standing in front of a black wall. on the wall you see the shadows of birds flying away.
Wow I just realize theres blue ribon 😲
Holy shit
*Mino created a masterpiece and this will go down in history for this generation of K-pop*

As a korean studies major these videos are actually super nice for 'fun/soft studying'
firstly because you put the korean lyrics with the English translation side by side while you're explaining, it gives a nice overview, and also because you guys to explain all the idioms and stuff that we don't really have time to cover in Korean class lmao
same here
I'm Korean. It's been years since I commented on contents in RUclips. What a great explanation. It couldn't be better. I hope all the non Korean speaking people intrested in the song watch this. Thanks buddy.
You can find so many things if you look from different aspects. And editing of this video was on point, I'm just sayin' 😂 I laughed so hard when I saw that emoji 😂 This video is already in my favorites list so, see you guys soon in next update 🙏 🎈

I think Shoot basically can't fully translated without thick footnotes. One of the best lyrics of Mino's for sure.

Yuki chan that luffy pic though 😂
In my personal interpretation of the song, I think MINO is referring to his own fiancé. In the MV, MINO is shown as a king (who usually have several queens and women that are only allow a relationship with king). One of his fiancé or a lady who ended up marrying with him bc of the situation was staying still (not letting him in to her boundary) Now, she was in love with other guy so she escaped from his kingdom. This makes more sense for the finding hide & seek part and the “blue bird” quotation. As the song hits the climax the king (MINo) is frustrated & sexually craving that he says sth like “where my bxxxxes at Fiancé”
It was fun bc depending on your perspective you can see both a really pure boy who loves someone’s fiancé or a corrupted king who lost one of his fiancé

That's what i was thinking😂
*I was today years old when I realized it's 'My-no' no 'Mee-no'*
-My life is a lie-
Both options are right👌🏻👌🏻 It’s actually Mino, but Maino is kinda nickname, fanboys usually use Maino instead of Mino, and Mino refers himself as Maino in his songs, you can hear it a lot)) same way Zico call himself Ziaco in his songs, they are close friends so I think it’s their thingy😂

Ikr?
Wow! I also wish they can explain the whole album 😉😉
None of Mino’s songs are obvious. 😂 just look at I’m Him and Body. The entire songs are word plays and double meanings.
“women’s emotions are like reeds”
as a woman i’m really offended, my emotions aren’t- OH LOOK PRETTY REEDS

His lyrics are pure art
Mino has always been a genius with wordplays and i am so so so glad i found this vid!!! You explained it very well and tq for your effort to make us non natives understand it in mino’s context. Kudos
Could you also explain the visual cues? Like the significance of him dressed like an emperor surrounded by his concubines (?)
probably relates to him choosing his "fiance" or the woman hes searching for as a king/emperor since in ancient times, that's how emperors chose their wives in Asia (?) I'm guessing
I have explained it in my pinned comment :)
Also i guess there's something else, if you see in the first part the lady in the field is wearing blue, and on the part with the concubines, there's one in the first row apparently with a blue ribbon. Maybe the girl he thought he wanted and needed ended up as just one of many or she was one like them all along?
@@angryfk Wow!! You really has a good eye!!

I WANTED YOU GUYS TO DO AN EXPLAINED OH MY GAWD THANK YOU

Even without read the meaning i still love this song
Wow never thought this song was so deep and took so many different samples, lyrics, metaphors to make.
Wow, how fast can you find all the things behind lyrics?😱 Fascinating!!😍
Like I would never know that blue bird means happiness!😂 or the game!
Love your videos!!!💜
It took me about 2 hours to research but the entire video took me 10 hours :)
DKDKTV 10 hours 😱but you did amazing i didn’t know that there are so many meanings behind the lyrics you explained it very well 👏 소고했어요
Mino made this song OMG, the boy who doesn’t know 8x7 is in the new journey to the west 😂
Subbed. Thank you!
I can see the cry for help in your eyes... This guy has the tendency to write hard lyrics... However mino slayed... Songgenius
I hope those who bark and say that the lyrics are disgusting and nonsense will be slapped by this video.
the way i understood the blue bird part is this way : since mino is obsessed with blue roses and likes them for their meaning as symbolizing the impossible and the unattainable. Calling her ''my blue bird'' is like calling her impossible and unreachable. and there is this scene where mino was in the eye of a crying blue bird (he drew that bird on the wall himself btw) which shows his weeping for the impossible lady.
so deep🤔
and i was thinking who is that lady ? 🤔🤔🤔 💭
@@chelbasalo769 yeah the impossible turning possible ... it means miracle to him, he said that to Kim junggi too

Thats why mino is called "ART IST" 💙
Okay seriously i got goosebump when i see this explaination.. Mino such a genius lyricist!! I stant this talent so much!! Thanks for the explaination Mr 🙏😊
Did anyone else notice that he kept changing between calling him myno and meeno?
I noticed that too and I find it a bit annoying 😅
that's because no one knows what to call this man. I call him meeno
Both correct tho. Fanboys call him Myno.
mishmashmixofstuff YES
Cuz meenho is his Korean name so it's odd that his stage name doesn't sound like it but sounds like the word "mine" ... like it doesn't compute because if you spelled his Korean name minho you'd say it meenho so your brain thinks i=ee
She’s not taken anymore now. He has a chance xD
Lmaoooo I never heard anyone say his name like that before 😭😭💙💙
mino who? I only know myno
mino always says his name MAYNO tho
Everyone did that. Even mino himself say maino a lot lmao. U didnt realized?
Most of his fanboys call him myno... 😀
I heard Mino himself says it myno in a song.
6:21 "His want/d for this women is impossible to measure" wordplay?😂
Unintended punchline from me lol
ive just spotted something :
if you like more at the choreography, it totally make sense w the meaning of the song ; at the first verse and chorus, mino don't pay attention at all to the others women (back dancers) thinking about the woman he loves, like when a girl pass in front of him he doesn't even look at her. as the song evolve he getting more and more 'crazy' (as you can see in the second verse) and more interesed in other women (it's reaching, first he just look at a girl, second he touch her chin and last he dance sensually w her. in the second chorus he dance w them and all, looking at them like a predator. and finally as the song is reaching w more and more intense beat, the lyrics is getting more sensual and all and at the end it seems like he is completely confused!
books should be written for MINO's mind
well explained! Good job! Not only u explained the song well but u gave us an insight on the korean language. Mino is very deep with his lyrics.
I can't believe Mino used korean idiom 😭
This is so deep man! I thought its only song like love Song.. Thanks for explain tho! I've been looking for the meaning of this song tbh.
I know this is too much to ask, but can you do explanation on other songs in the album too?
héz yes . Even I want that

I love how MINO cleverly ended his song, he's such a poet.
he intends to put it open ending because as his album "XX" refers to or it is means anything can be imaginable. i was laughing when you reach the dog thing omg hahahahahah because when i read it i was oh oh it is mino this is mino hahahahah. but really he put it out very complicated and he searches a lot to came up with this wow mino wow
Thank you 😊
I thought blue bird was Twitter. Lol
haha same esp with the one mino draw in the mv with him in the hole blue hair and blue eye shadow
Lol nope. Blue bird symbolizes happiness so in my opinion he's using the term to mean he's looking for his happiness or looking for the woman aka his happiness. It could be interpreted either way.
