Said it before & will say it again. I find it very hard to believe Kuma didn't know Luffy was Nika. A rubber man he's helped several times. Even guarding Luffys ship for 2yrs.
We don't know if the followers of Nika knew what his powers where. There's no reason to think that the God of freedom has rubber powers if it's not actually stated in the few records left. Also the fruit didn't change Luffy's appearance one bit before he awakened it.
Vegapunk knew about the gomu gomu no mi not existing in the old devil fruit encyclopedia. Vegapunk might’ve told Kuma what he knew about Nika

I like the idea that Kuma overhears Luffy telling the tiger he’s ready to go become king of the pirates and leave the island so that he can (reveals his true dream), which leads to Kuma deciding to go against the government.
Omg I hope we get luffys dream reveal, this would be an ingenious way to do it, just Luffy blindly stating it to a beaten up tiger, also Bonney knowing this aswell would further make everything connect even more.

They might have initially believe that he'll become a Marine and they would eventually get control of the fruit that way

Luffy learning the dance from Kuma sounds really good. To add to that, maybe there's someone in Foosha village related to or close to Ginny. She was the commander of the eastern forces before she was kidnapped. And then this is where Kuma finds out about Luffy and probably his devil fruit as well. This must have been when he decided to look after Luffy and the crew from behind the scenes until Sabaody

Foosha village is on Dawn island. Dawn is obviously related to the Sun god in someway. Kuma maybe read about it in his Bible and went to visit before he lost his free will
I think Kuma will later go onto Goa Kingdom to attack the old king of Goa who will die instantly or will die within a year as Kuma learnt of Beccori's idea to annex Sorbet was the infamous Grey Terminal but Kuma will push out the memories of the family members leaving the kings death as a mystery.

my theory is why Kuma wounded up in the East Blue is because for years he's being in the Revolutionaries he's aware of Dragon looking to the east, so he maybe went there to try and find if Dragon has family there or find out more about Dragon, like before he loses his humanity he wants to know if Dragon does have a kid or had a wife etc.

@@OdenDChad Because he looks up to Dragon, as well as seeing him as a dear friend. But much like Ginny, he can't go home again. He can't see his friends, he can't see his family, all he has is wandering the earth until he dies...though that last bit is more metaphorical as he's becoming a cyborg and losing his humanity.
I think alot of people are forgetting the end of thriller bark where Kuma mentions luffy being dragons kid so he def knows by the start of the story, so yea this is likely how he found out

Yeah the worst apart about the Nika fruit is how incompetent it makes rhe gorosei and government look. We really need a good reason to why they didnt snatch him when it was easy. Which is basically most of the story.

I don't think we'll find out why Kuma wanted to go to Foosha in the next chapter. Oda has pulled the bait-and-switch with plot and lore elements so many times by this point that I'm almost certain he will leave that to be revealed at a later point in this arc, probably when Kuma actually arrives at Egghead.

Maybe Ginny is from Foosha village? Kuma wanted to visit her homeland.
I have a personal theory why Kuma went to the Foosha village. Remember Ivankov's flashback about his brief conversation with Dragon about how he always faces towards the Eas Blue?
Maybe Kuma had a similar moment with him. Maybe one day, Kuma found Dragon facing his hometown and he was smiling, something like an ear to ear grin. Kuma never saw Dragon smile, so he asked him about it. And Dragon says something like: "I never told anyone this, not even Ivankov...but I have a son. But due to circumstances I felt it was the best I leave him behind. I wanted him to choose his own path, not walk the same I do. But the moment I held him for the first time...was the happiest moment of my life. And whenever I think about him I can't help but smile."
Probably not exactly that, but maybe something similar. And now, after all this time, being a parent and now soon having to lose his own will, Kuma decided to go to Dragon's hometown and see Luffy for the first time. Kuma obviously already knew about Luffy being Dragon's son in Thriller Bark, so I thought this might be something that Oda's going for.
Might also explain why he was so understanding with Kuma's and Bonney's situation
Dragon might have told Kuma that he had a son considering that Kuma himself was a father (biological or otherwise)
I do believe that that's something s a lot of people discount.
Ivankov has no children and no reason to protect Dragon's (not insinuating that he would betray Dragon or Luffy) he just has no referential life material to justify such a revelation
Definitely feel like if Dragon were to tell anybody, it would be Kuma.
Everybody talks about the fact he went to foosha village but nobody mentions that it’s also Dawn Island. Luffy is from both. Foosha is just one village on Dawn Island. It also has the Goa Kingdom where Dragon and Sabo are from. Dawn is obviously related to the Sun god so maybe Kuma knows something special about that island in general and visited it before he lost his free will

It is very possible that Kuma had information of where the rebirth of Sun God Nika was going to be.
The WG knew shsnks took it from who’s who at the east blue and that shsnks stayed at the east for a year. He had a billion berry bounty even back then and took a while to retrace his steps to find the Nika fruit

9:46 I’m on the lines of THIS belief!! Because the Gorosei KNOW that the Red Hair Pirates stole the Gomu-Gomu, however for some reason they’ve never seen the fruits power manifest? So that probably led them to assume Shanks stashed it somewhere on that island 🏝️ but they needed someone with enough power to take on the whole Red Hair Pirates and that took them awhile to acquire until Kuma arrived.
The Gorosei would not send a full scale force for the fruit because they don’t want to show the desire and true power behind the fruit so they send a secret team just like they did the first time with CP0

*Crazy theory*
Maybe the government learns of Luffy having the gum gum fruit when he was a child but out of respect for Garp they tell him that they plan to kill his grandson. Upon learning that Garp begs them to let his grandson live in exchange for him to train Luffy to join the marines and ultimately a weapon for the government. That could explain some of Garp’s desperation to raise Luffy into a marine.

I don’t think the government would let there greatest threat live even if one of their strongest people didn’t want them to. I think Garp just didn’t want another Dragon, in Luffys sake, or another Roger, in Aces case
The Gorosei don't want to kill Luffy because the fruit will go back into circulation and need to be relocated. The would have wanted to imprison Luffy at worst. I think if they did find out, they found out after Garp took Luffy to Dadan.

Pretty sure its easier to send an agent as a fish buyer than a fisherman. Fisherman are often territorial and probably wouldn't take to kindly to a "wandering fisherman" fishing on their turf. People have been shot in Maine for putting down lobster traps in someone else's area.
Hey Tekking! I thought of this video idea ehile warching a previous video of yours but forgot to comment. I was thinking a really fun video or series of videos could be: What would the first saga have looked like if the straw hats had all met in the north, south, or west blue rather than the east? And how would what they learned and experienced have affected the rest of the story? Thought it would be interesting. Hope you like it!

I have seen no one talking about something that just really suits, Dragon. He was shown to be aware of luffy's route, he was at logue town right before his son enters the grand line. I think kuma went there to talk to dragon, and maybe dragon showed his son, but kuma and luffy never really met, but kuma sees him from far away. He can sense something of nika or not there
I like to think that when Kuma last met Dragon while searching for a cure for Ginny, Dragon told him he has a son in the East Blue and asked him to check in on him if possible, and that somehow ended up staying as an order for him. It would relate to Sabaody, and on Thriller Bark he'd be making sure Luffy had good companions for the sake of Dragon

Kuma knew Luffy was Dragon's son at Thriller Bark, which means he had to know before Luffy's parentage was revealed at the War of Marineford.
Given that basically no one knew that except for Garp, Sengoku, Dragon, & (presumably) the Gorosei & Imu, it's likely that it is at this flashback scene that he learned who Luffy was (assuming he didn't know already from previous World Government reports).

I don’t think Kuma will see Luffy I think he was just traveling around the East Blue and he was gonna dock and restock in Foosha village but then got called away. And Oda is just highlighting how close they have been to interacting. Kuma’s hero Nika. IMO this is the end of the flashback and it the way to show how close he was then and now he will finally meet his Hero. Next chapter will be Kuma landing on Egghead.
It is much much much more likely that this was just meant to show how Kuma *almost* met the one he always wished to meet, but the WG sent him away, contributing yet again to the tragedy that is Kuma's life. People don't travel around the Blues using Log Poses, they just happen to find new islands by sailing around. Kuma doesn't need a specific reason to be at that specific island, anyone that is sailing around will stop by an island they see to restock supplies (and Kuma's letter to Bonney suggests that he is traveling around exploring all sorts of places). Isn't that how Shanks eventually found his way to that island too? Unless we're all suggesting Shanks went there on purpose too, which would also suggest Shanks somehow knew of Luffy before he even went there (which makes no sense)
Well in shanks case he may have had a clue about Ace being Rogers son being on fuusha but met Luffy instead

@@RichHomieGon if maps were that common in the East Blue then Nami wouldn’t be as valuable as she was to Arlong. Pretty much every adventure the strawhats had before the Log Pose was introduced was them just randomly stumbling upon an island. I mean, I might be wrong, maybe there were scenes of them looking at a map before going to Gaimon’s island or Syrup Village and I just don’t remember them. That still wouldn’t invalidate my point about Kuma though.

The 4 blues are capable of being sailed with maps and a good navigator. The grand line is more difficult and maps no longer work. You need a log pose. The rest of your point I don’t care about or necessarily disagree with. Kuma doesn’t need any specific reason to be at that island. There’s nothing wrong with that thought. I’m just correcting you on you believing that everyone just floats around the east blue randomly with no map or navigation. That just isn’t true
@@RichHomieGon I thought I made a pretty general statement when I said “people” as in “general people sailing around” who can go around wherever they want and stop by wherever they want without danger of messing up the Log Pose route. I’m gonna try to be more clear so you can catch up: when I say “people” I’m talking about a general case, not Marines/Warlords who would have a destination in mind. You may not care about the rest of my point, and that’s precisely why you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying, you can’t just disregard the rest of my point when the rest of it is precisely what explains that my point is that Kuma might’ve just been sailing around without specifically going for Fuusha Village, or maybe stopping by the island on his way to somewhere else. My points are all part of the same train of thought, if you disregard the whole of what I’m saying and try to introduce a specific case about Marines/Warlords and people trying to reach specific destinations to fit your line of thought, then yeah, of course you’re gonna be correct.
Kuma may not know about Dragon's son, but he may know about his father (Garp). If he finds out that Garp is Luffy's grandfather, it wouldn't take much for him to connect the dots.
Ive always had this idea where somebody really strong with experience from the new world comes to luffy's vilkage a day after ace leaves and trains/ educate luffy , making luffy smarter and have a head start on his haki .
I love the idea of cipher pol agents terrified, snooping around the red hair pirates for years just for literally nobody to ever show the gum gum powers

I don't think it's a complicated thing like memory removal or whatever.
When Luffy saw Kuma and said "who are you" I think it was similar to the situation with Blackbeard in the bar with the pies. Luffy and him have a conversation and it's normal,they get outside and talk and Luffy looks at him like he's never seen him before and with so much animosity. He even refers to him as not him but they. So..what if it's something similar, because Kuma got more enhancements since last he met Luffy, or even because it wasn't Kuma that Luffy was seeing. And Luffy could just tell. Maybe a VOAT kinda power like with zunesha
This. Luffy seems to know if someone has a 'soul'. Or in Blackbeard's case, potentially more than one.
Something that I think would be interesting is since we’ve already come so close to the beginning of one piece, what if the flash back goes on all the way to the missing events of the night before on egghead.

“The day of divergence” is a cool name.
I'm 100% sure it's all about the timing. The Gorosei are worried because they know "THAT DAY IS CLOSE". The day Joyboy returns. But it's not just any day, I'm sure it has to be during a celestial event. Something like an eclipse or a that thing when the planets line up once in 1000 years. That's why the govt had the Gomu Gomu fruit under a lock and key.
And the celestial event also makes sense in the context of Gol D Roger laughing at the One Piece. He was too early bet he knew he wouldn't live long enough due to his illness, so the next best thing was to give the middle finger to the Gorosei and start the Great Pirate Age.
Or at least that's what's been brewing in my brain ever since I saw that cross in the church.
The only problem i see with them knowing from the beginning is as soon as Arlong was defeated surely they would order his capture

It's possible that Kuma knew about luffy because of vegapunk or talking to dragon. Remember Ivankov was in impel down so it makes sense he wouldn't know dragon had a kid. Also, I could 100% see luffy not recognizing Kuma because Kuma was wearing a cheesy fake mustache or something.

Luffy saying "who are you?" could be because he did not find the clone to be the real thing too, he is known to not tell people important facts sometimes 😋
He also knew something was off with Blackbeard upon meeting him. He seems to know automatically if someone has a soul or not.

I don’t think Kuma will piece together that Luffy is Nika until after we cut back to Egg Head. Kuma will arrive before Bonny is executed, and their will be a big epic moment where Kuma witnesses Gear 5 Luffy saving his daughter.
