These people in the comments are some very rude people. It is not you, it is like this on every channel. keep doing what you do, and we will learn together.
Thank you! I'm secure enough to understand my limitations. I sure like this old stuff, though. I normally always state that "I am no expert" in my videos. I think some people miss that and go straight for the attack. I'm ok with it though. You're correct! We learn together.
That's an awesome collection. Thanks for the info.
I appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video thank you.
Thank you!
Pretty knifes thanks for sharing..... subscribed
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Great vidio
Dude, not knife related, but I have that same dress shirt! Wear mine frequently at work and have several others from the same maker. Great video and info also.
You, my friend, have great taste in style!
Wow. Not even close on the mini trapper. 😂 Far from a 1980. Its a 2020. No hard feelings man. I just died laughing inside when you said that. You had me rewind and pause the video and everything. You had me questioning my own self. But it is a whole lot to keep up with. Like you said thank God for google. Have a good one man and keep snagging them case knives. I love em
Thanks for watching and thanks for the input!
Yes. 2020 but still a nice knife.
In 1970, Case started using Dots on blades; older knives have other style blade stamps less accurate. The main stamp changes every 10 years. Depending on the main stamp, the design tells you one part of the age. In 2000 Case added a combination of dots and X’s. The one on the turntable is a 2020 model year Trapper. The crooked S designates stainless blades. Blades using CV steel are stamped CV or use a regular S. That is always not true however, Case use many different blade stamp marks and unique shields to identify knives. A small difference can make one knife model much more valuable than another is. Limited production models fetch higher prices, knowing the difference is a mistake that Collectors are always looking for.🤔
That's a good explanation. Thanks!
I have a Case Knife I recieved from my grandfather in 1967. I believe it is pre WW2, maybe 100 years old. It's a larger pocket knife, than the current smaller Case knives. It has a brown bone handle, three blades, short blade has a flat screw driver tip and a old style can opener. How do I find out its age?
It is awesome that you have that piece of history. I'd start with a Google image search. If that didn't work, I'd search out large case knives and see if I could find something with a similar look. Also, check the tang stamp and compare it for age.
What exactly does double x mean. Enjoy your content thanks
Originally, it meat that the steel was high-tempered. Now, it's a very clever branding option.
I have Damascus 2 blade with stag handle. What is it worth?
Very nice!
I'd have to see it and pull some comps to be certain, but definitely has some value.
How do you go about purchasing some of these knives?
Feel free to give me a call at 423.609.7923... that's the shop number. 1 to 5 on Sundays. I'm not sure if we still have them all, but we might have what you're looking for (or a good substitute). Thanks!
The best dating system I have seen is on Bulova watches. They are one letter followed by one number. 'M' is the 60's and a number like '2' would make the watch a 1962.. quick and simple.
I didn't know that. I've sold a few Bulova watches but never worthy of much research. That system sounds like a good one. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
@@BackPorchAntiques yeah.. I was messing around buying and selling. Omega has a site with the serial numbers giving the year... much like firearms. I really like Wyler watches but it is impossible to know when one was made.. there are little clues that will get you in the ballpark but..
I love vintage Omega and Breitling!
The best dating on knives that I know of is all the USGI Folding Pocket Knives (Camillus, Imperial, etc.) 1957-2006 and they used a real date on the main blade.
If you still have the Sea Horse Whittler I will take it.
Thank you for your offer, but it's already sold.
Apologize to absolutely nobody on the internet. There will always be that one jackass who has to point out every little error and misspelling.
Yep. They live among us.
Show the markings! 🙄
We tried to show some of them. It’s hard to get them all in a shorter video. We’ll try to do better on the next one.
1980 is a 2020
Vanity is a purple paisley shirt. I don't know why youtubers who make product videos like cars, guns, knives, and other gadgets feel the need to show themselves more than the product. I really don't care about the fancy studio setting or professional looking videography. Keep the camera on tbe knives!!! Let me stare at them while you talk.
Sorry about that. I had just come from church. I normally wear overalls for my videos. Feel free to view the other videos if you'd like to see me less dressed up.
You talk way too much.
Ok. I'll take that into consideration.
🟥 So, what is " Xs down " on the older knives? You didn't really show it that good. Maybe next time.
Sorry about that. Here is a link to a cheat sheet for tang stamps. "X's Down" refers to the 1940-1964 version when the "xx" is under the word "Case."
