    Archer Air Guns were on vacation, reopened today. I called and spoke to Mr. Archer, he is very professional and helped me decide which air rifle i need for what i am doing. I feel very secure in my purchase and anxiously waiting for my rifle. The website is very good and customer service is great.

    He is doing this for people that never shot,,,anything,,,in their lives, and that's good at getting young and old shooters started. Shooting most all Long Guns from .22 Cal to 300 H&H Mag I have found my Gamo Bull Whisper to be a hoot and I can shoot for hours with an ammo bill of a couple of buck. And still I find it performs like a well built Small cal rifle. I like it.

    I have that Crosman in my collection, It's a fun rifle, and yes, you CAN add a bipod and still pump the lever. Because of the design there is no "recoil", and therefore the gun does not "feel" particularly like a powder-burner, if that's a goal - like with many of the new "blow-back" action weapons.
    I have used both red dot and laser sights and even a tactical light - although the included iron sights work great out of the box.
    Great value for target plinking esp w/ pellets.

    adding oils to smooth bore or riffled bores on air riffles at the base of the first pellet will enhance the pressure behind the pellet by sealing any small gaps between the pellet and the barrel. Issues to be know are any foreign residue deposited in the barrel will change the way a pellet travels through the in a different way each time the air gun is used. If you are after more power and greater long distance shoots you should up grade.

    I'd love to view what is discussed in this video.... but there is no "comparison" or "rating" system visible on the website. The website itself is very poorly built/executed, difficult to navigate, and unless you know specific names of the products you're looking for..... very difficult to find.

    My favourite is the Beretta CX4 Storm - do you have one in stock - {just the CX4 itself, not including that stupid stand and scope} ... the video helped in that on 2 counts you used the CX4 to identify 2 low counts ... so weight and ease of use
    BUT it's confusing, low rate for easy to shoot for the CX4 storm, but for weight you showed a Crosman Nightstalker - i'm assuming the Crosman is a CX4 rip-off

    I was hoping that the "Rate-A-Gun" score would indicate whether an air gun is a top quality work of high craftsmanship, or whether the air gun is a piece of junk. That doesn't seem to be the case.

  • @jaypeter666

    Just watched this video and am looking at your website. In the video, you say that a scope will lower the RateAGun score for a gun. Why doesn't a red dot sight affect this score? I see that the scoped Crosman 760 has a lower score than the 760 without a scope, while the 760 with a red dot sight has the same score as the non-scoped 760. I realize a red dot is not the same as magnification, but the purpose of each is to make aiming easier, is it not?

    According to his ratings, my Hatsan 125 is a 10.1, and I can get groups as low as 1.5 inches at 50 yards. I don't consider it a crap rifle, maybe too hard for most to shoot, but is that a reason to take it away from those who can shoot it properly?

    One year ago I bought a .177 RWS Diana 34 T06 and without a scope it shoots well, but with a scope it was very hard to shoot accurate, I had to change my position A LOT to finally become (relatively) accurate. I use a Hawke 4x32 and I now have 1inch groups from 10m, with artillery position. But I would like to become more accurate. Do I need a new scope? (eg. hawke 4-9x42) or are my pellets not good? I use RWS Superdome. Please give me some advise.. Thanks already :)

    • @iamlegion5826
      @iamlegion5826 6 лет назад

      Wzawah loose the scope completely. Get some cheap binoculars to see your target hits ,saves walking. Shoot alot. Learn the" feel" of the gun and how the pellets react to air and how different shapes effect velocity and drop. As anything nothing beats practice. I don't recommend PCP guns unless you you you feel like carrying a pump around. Spings are great to learn on! Oh and Never Ever use a scope!

  • @kevinbreese5739
    @kevinbreese5739 11 лет назад

    I don't see anything wrong with his rating system. He is just taking a different approach. It's not based on how good or bad a gun is, it's simply based on if a gun is easy to shoot or more challenging to shoot. Most resellers don't want to rate their products on a scale of "good" or "bad." Because then they wouldn't sell the "bad" ones. Any reseller will want you to think ALL their products are good, and that what you choose is simply based on your specific needs and abilities etc.

      +Ian Mangham Thank you that is very helpful. I just wondered if I was getting the full power out of my Rifle, and always wondered if the spring had weakened to some degree. I have recently changed all the seals, but when doing this I put the spring back, as it looked ok to me. I tend to judge its power by pellet penetration in wood planks, but that is not particularly scientific is it? I have always wondered how to know if any air rifle is delivering its full power?

    Let me get this straight. More accurate guns are rated less because they are easier to shoot. Where higher rated guns take special skill to shoot accurately. BULLSHIT! Better guns are more accurate and the only extra skill you need is the ability to pay for the quality. If you can pull a trigger, you can pull a trigger.
    The challenge for skilled shooters is not to get a gun that is less accurate and then challenge yourself to hit the target. The challenge is to hit smaller targets at longer distances.

    From what I read on the RateAGun listing, I do NOT trust these scores. They're probably based on YOUR opinions. What's good for one person may be bad for another.
    I have a Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk and a Crosman Phantom, both with scopes. The Phantom is VERY easy to operate, comfortable, nearly idiot proof, yet rates a VERY HIGH score of 10.8 !?!?!
    I checked others and even the simplest youth rifles get high scores like the Gamo Recon (7.5), Crosman Raven (7.0) and Ruger Explorer (9.5).

    well...since the airgun industry doesn't use this scale, and doesn't print it's "rate-a-gun" score on the box, this is just plain silly now isn't it? you're better off just doing your own research like airgunners always have...that way you at least learn something about the differences of each gun, and you will have at least a working knowlegde of your gun's specific operation before you buy

    Basically It's about buying his rifles from his own web page full stop, ask an ex sniper from a seals team to use any of his air rifles and we will see how it scores up. The only people that know how to shoot well with air rifle especially just .177 pellets and at 100 yards without a scope are those people who know how to suit to adjust on the fly and still get bull's eye hits every time, then add the scope and its over 98% hits all the time no matter what the weather or outdoor conditions are with a couple of exceptions like a snow blizzard of extreme winds over say 10 meters per second ?
