geo metro 5 speed rebuild. taking 2 bad units to build 1 good unit. the reassembly process.

poor man has poor ways. plus, this also adds 1 more good trans to my inventory and gets rid of unusable parts.
also, I'll soon be uploading a video if it's not already uploaded of me building a Chicago spool out of that bad carrier.

Thanks for an excellent video. You have made this complex rebuild appear simple and noted all the small pitfalls along the way. It would be nice if you made a second video with the open case demonstrating how this ingenious design accomplishes speed division and shifting.

I'll be rebuilding another here at some point, and I plan on doing a full start to finish build on it, and I can go over all that with that gearbox.

What is the torque spec on the nut on 5th gear?

I had a manual (Geo metro) transmission that would pop out of 3rd gear. Could it be as simple a fix as to replace one of the ball and springs behind the three big screws?

Not entirely sure. There could be some deeper issues there. I have another that I'll be rebuilding at some point that won't go into 2nd and when it does, it won't stay. When I get to it, that may show what's going on with yours.

Heck yeah. Ill watch, im currently sourcing a donor trans for my bad shift fork and sleeve. Got a synchro bearing and seal kit but finding a new fork for sale has been difficult. Great video thanks! Note to others dont let the 5th gear fall out and drop the synchro hub struts out. Lol still dont know if its back together but ill double check when i get to the other synchro replacements
