My 11th birthday was during the time the '78 Jeopardy! was in production. As such, when I first saw the Trebek version, I found myself expecting to see the Super Jeopardy! bonus round at the end of the Double Jeopardy! round.
@@fredmckinney8933 I was 11 when this debuted and had vaguely remembered the original Jeopardy from the early 1970s. This version of Jeopardy wasn't half bad really, but went up against too much other competition on the other major networks, back when daytime TV had way more game shows and soaps. Those were the days...
I only vaguely remember this interim Jeopardy. I loved the original Jeopardy, which I grew up with. And I loved the current version for many years into its run.
Thanks for the time warp. I was still in elementary school and trying to watch cartoons after school on our B&W TV with an improvised coat-hanger UHF antenna when this originally aired.
I also don't remember the Person with the Lowest Money being Eliminated.... not unless the Person was in minus Dollars coming up to Final Jeopardy they would Eliminate the Player then but again I was Born after this Era was over!
You can tell by her low grand total, that she's been having major trouble with the bonus board or Super Jeopardy board. That thing has been her enemy compared to the front game boards.
This is what Jeopardy was like? Yeah I wasn't Born back then I was Born 10 Years Later but I never knew this is how they Filmed Jeopardy back then yeah again I was born in the Trebek Era after Art Flemming left!
This was not much like the original Jeopardy, 1964-74. But both used mechanically operated cards, rather than the electronic screen from Trebeck’s years.
The word isn't used anymore, I doubt one who wasn't a adult by the 90s would even understand it anyway. I'm 38, never heard, or read it anywhere until today, and I love to read.
This is a basterized version of Jeopardy where the dead last contestant is eliminated after the Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy and the days champion plays Super Jeopardy
Especially when Karen got the "Argentina" question right. "The answer is: '4 times the size of Texas, it's the 2nd largest country in South America', and it's Karen." "Second largest? What is, uhh... Argentina?" "RRRRRRIGHT! GOOD FOR YOU! ARGENTINA!" (Wheel "Final Spin" chimes) "Look at that! Double Jeopardy is over, and Karen, with a total of $2000, you are the champion! What a finish."
Art Fleming , Alex Trebec, and now Ken Jennings each one great but Ken is only iconic as a Contestant .If Ken keeps the hosting job which he is well suited for he will join Art and Alex.
And in the TV commercial for Ray-O-Vac is Arte Johnson (as his soldier character from Laugh-In), Eva Gabor (or is it Zsa Zsa Gabor?), and Burgess Meredith (the actor originally known as the Penguin from the 1966 Adam West/Burt Ward Batman TV series).
Though I love Alex Trebek, I totally forgot about Art Fleming being the original host of Jeopardy! This show is so lo-tech compared to today's Jeopardy.😅
"Tomorrow night, it's 'Diff'rent Strokes' starring Gary Coleman and Conrad Bain. Then, more comedy fun on 'Who's Watching the Kids?'. Then, on 'The Rockford Files', Jim's on the trail of a missing princess. Then 'The Eddie Capra Mysteries', Capra's looking for the killer of a model with a very mysterious lifestyle, all tomorrow night on NBC. Right now, it's 'Jeopardy!', next." "Today, Lucille Ball joins Jack Linkletter on 'America Alive!'. Tonight, the Dogpatch residents celebrate Sadie Hawkins Day in 'Li'l Abner in Dogpatch Today' tonight at 8/7, central and mountain on NBC. Right now, it's 'The New High Rollers', next."
FRICKING YEAH! Same for the Pat Sajak and Vanna White version of wheel! This is absolutely and extremely bad! I first saw this from last month, there’s obviously no reason to watch this same for the Pat Sajak and Vanna White version of wheel! I kinda wish no-one posted any of the episodes of the Fleming version, his voice sounds very deep and bad and not clear at all!
Art Fleming, my Mom and I watched him for years at lunch in the 1960's-great memory...
That had to be one of the BEST games of the ‘79 Fleming run. Simply exciting. Thank you for posting this ne’er-before-seen episode!
1978 not 79
Art Fleming was perhaps the most courteous game show host ever
I think he's a strikingly amazing talent.
For those who are unaware, that Karen was also a contestant on the first Trebek Pilot of Jeopardy five years later.
and also a contestant in 1986 during the trebek era, She is Japanese-American.
Who is she?
I’m glad they went back to the original way when it came back on in 1984

YO! ORIGINAL BROADCAST WITH COMMERCIALS, LET'S GO!
This is how much we love J! Not one complaint about the quality of vhs transfer!
Love to all ❤
The Time's Up bell was also used on Wheel of Fortune, and for a similar purpose (it rang at the end of the game, denoting time for the final spin).
I like the clacking sound.
A really terrific match! WOW!
Did I just hear Wheel Of Fortune music going into the first commercial? Cool. 😊😊
This was the origins of that music, which got recycled into shopping music for WOF in 1983.
3:53 - When you hear this sound, it's time I give the wheel a final spin. Oops! Right producer, wrong show.
This set is so flashy, compared to the original set! I'm not complaining 😂
I feel like I haven't seen this version in years.
As a Gen-Z, commercials back then were so much better.😂
5:34 the good ol days
Legendary ending!
Phillips: a true blue friend. Works better when you mix it with vodka.
A Phillips Screwdriver!!!!
How ‘bout the ad with the bank teller saying over her microphone to the drivers, “When I’m constipated…”
3:54 Oops, that sound means time's running out, I'll give the wheel one last spin and i will add 1000 to the amount of money it lands on
3:54 UH OH, IT'S THE FINAL SPIN!
The Nytol commercial voice-over is Mason Adams, the most heard pitch man of that era. Look him up.
I’m Wink Martendale for Montgomery Ward!
He's well into his nineties, lives quite well after having been a very astute businessman and is still in demand as a voiceover artist!
Presidential yacht. Those were the days.
James Hampton in the egg commercial?
I also don't remember the Person with the Lowest Money being Eliminated.... not unless the Person was in minus Dollars coming up to Final Jeopardy they would Eliminate the Player then but again I was Born after this Era was over!
There were some variations during all three runs of Jeopardy.

You can tell by her low grand total, that she's been having major trouble with the bonus board or Super Jeopardy board. That thing has been her enemy compared to the front game boards.
Karen lost to Brian the following day and he won Super Jeopardy without a strike. Saw it in actually.
Geez. The answers/questions were easy compared to today's show. Dang.
Don't know about that. I didn't get a single one.
Thanks for this Art Flemming JEOPARDY with the commercials. please post more if available.

I wish these would get reruns and the 74 Syndicated episodes
The original tapes were destroyed, which was a common practice back then
@@GrandMasterGalvatron, the "wiping" of videotapes was IMO a terrible crime that destroyed so much culture, whether highbrow or lowbrow.
No chance in hell they would use the clue at 5:37 today.
Even though the word has nothing to do with the slur, that word has become verboten.
The word isn't used anymore, I doubt one who wasn't a adult by the 90s would even understand it anyway.

This is a basterized version of Jeopardy where the dead last contestant is eliminated after the Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy and the days champion plays Super Jeopardy
It is canon, therefore not "bastardized". It is just a variation, albeit ill-advised 😊
Whoa! The champion struck out in Super Jeopardy!
The answer is.....THE MAYFLOWER
3:54 13:07 22:37
3:53
Watch out, Wink! That nasty old dragon could be in one of those fridges or freezer!
3:54 IS THAT THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE BELL WHEN IT'S A FINAL SPIN?!!
It is hilarious to hear a game show host growl and holler in excitement at one of the contestants' success.
Especially when Karen got the "Argentina" question right.
"The answer is: '4 times the size of Texas, it's the 2nd largest country in South America', and it's Karen."

the guy makes me nervous !
11:50 A typo. Says THE NUMBERS OF... instead of THE NUMBER OF...
Wink in the Ward's ad and Doug Llewellyn in the Lucky supermarket ad
And in the TV commercial for Ray-O-Vac is Arte Johnson (as his soldier character from Laugh-In), Eva Gabor (or is it Zsa Zsa Gabor?), and Burgess Meredith (the actor originally known as the Penguin from the 1966 Adam West/Burt Ward Batman TV series).
And “the voice of commercials,” Mason Adams announcing the Nytol ad.
James Hampton, Michael J. Fox's 'Teen Wolf' dad, in the Egg commercial.
An egg in orange juice shaken up? IDK about that…anyone ever try that?
I might soon need the True Blue Friend if I drank one of those!
Though I love Alex Trebek, I totally forgot about Art Fleming being the original host of Jeopardy! This show is so lo-tech compared to today's Jeopardy.😅
That whistle to signal the one minute timer is so annoying.
"Tomorrow night, it's 'Diff'rent Strokes' starring Gary Coleman and Conrad Bain. Then, more comedy fun on 'Who's Watching the Kids?'. 1st tine seeing this, thank god for the alex trebek version this is horrible
