The difference between "Supermarket Sweep" in the 1960s (as well as the pilot episode) and subsequent versions is that the 1960s version is done in a actual supermarket and the subsequent versions were done in a television studio so that the producers had better control over the products as the real supermarkets has alcohol for sale and the 90s, 2000s and the most recent version didn't allow alcohol to be placed in the market.

"The Invaders" premiered Jan 10, 1967; the original "Supermarket Sweep" ran until July of that year, so yes, Jan. 17, 1967 would have been about right.
Since the episode appeared to have been taped in late '66, that would explain the 1966 copyright at 28:30 during the close.
As for the format, I noticed that it changed from three teams down to two late in its run, plus they kind of stretched it out a bit.
And you got to love how Malone references the "automatic clock" at the 20:34 mark. He could have said "timer", of course.

      There was a low-budget, made-in-Canada version in the 1980s.
In Canada, there's no tax on winnings, so you get to keep everything you win. However, the prizes are only worth about 20% of the value of prizes on American game shows.

Also, this one is different in that the two challengers are pitted against each other in the pricing games. In the 2 eps posted (I presume neither one is complete as they are only about 10 minutes long), the champion participated with the challengers.

I like the prices at Food Fair. I'm heading down to the market right now. But to win the show, I don't think it's efficient to fill up your shopping cart with frozen turkeys. They're large, you're breaking your back in the store, and you'll have nowhere to store them all once you get home. Look for items that are small and expensive. Maybe go to where the medications are and scoop up everything in sight.

This looks to be Ben Franklin Day. I'm confused by the 1968 date. I thought it ended in 1967. "The Invaders" was on Tuesday nights at 8:30 p.m., then moved to 10:00 p.m. during its second season to make way for "It Takes a Thief".
