@Athanasius Contra Marxism I was supposed to become a catechumen on the 15th of last month, but that was the Sunday my church closed. It hurt at the time, but now I patiently wait for the doors to reopen. I am using this added fast (the fast of services) to see my own transgressions and preparing my heart for when the Lord deems it time for me to join the Church.
Nothing can cancel Pascha. True, we - our perishes - can't come together to celebrate the most blessed feast, but no one can stop us from rejoicing in the Lord's blessed feast, even if we must sing from our porches with candles in hand.
I pray you stay safe during this uncertain time ☦

@@ShionOfRed In the ancient church, catachumens would stay and follow their spiritual guide for up to 3 years... and baptised on Holy Saturday ... to die and rise with Our Lord Jesus Christ! Great was their courage and faith, have patience and Christ will grant you the blessings of your efforts! God bless and strengthen you in this trailing time for you!

    Lyrics for Stasis 1
In a grave they laid Thee,
O my life and my Christ,
And the armies of the Angels were sore amazed
As they sand the praise of Thy submissive love.
Verse: Thou hast enjoined Thy commmandments, that we should keep them most diligently.
    O my dear Christ Jesus,
    King and Ruler of all,
Why to them that dwelt in Hades didst Thou descend?
Was it not to set the race of mortals free?
Verse:I will confess Thee with uprightness of heart, when I have learned judgements of Thy righteousness.
In a grave they laid Thee,
O my Life and my Christ,
Yet the Lord of death has Thou by Thy
    death destroyed;
And the world of Thee doth drink rich streams of life.
Verse: In my heart have I hid Thy sayings that I might not sin against Thee.
    O my sweet Lord Jesus,
    My salvation, my light,
How art thou now by a grave and its darkness hid
How unspeakable the mystery of Thy love.
Verse: Make me to understand the way of Thy statutes, and I will ponder on Thy wondrous works.
    Thou, O Christ was buried
    In a tomb newly made,
Thus renewing the whole nature of mortal men
By arising from the dead as God in truth.
Verse: Before I was humbled, I trangressed therefore Thy saying have I kept.
    “Who eill give me water
For the tears I must weep?”
So the Maiden wed to God cried with loud lament,
“That for my sweel Jesus I may rightly mourn.”
Verse: Thou art good, O Lord and in Thy goodness teach me Thy statutes.
    Savior, Thou wast hidden
‘Neath the earth like the sun,
And was covered as with shrouds by the right od death.
But more radiantly do Thou arise, O Lord.

Christ who saves Lazarus from the waterless pit.
Seek Christ's church in person. The digital world creates a gnostic cage. We can comprehebd, but we cannot obtain. Christ came in the flesh that we might see, hear, behold, touch and taste that he is good.
The lamb that was slain. The bread of life. The wine of the covenant.

Very very nice, and well performed; I admit it sounds VERY "different" to my ears (not "bad"), being sung in English and also in a western mode (they lose all the most "painful" notes)... It's nice, of course, but it sounds very foreign and authentically "British". I hear influences of "Sarum plainchant", etc... Thank you for posting; I enjoy the newness.

@@giuseppelogiurato5718 Right, Byzantine choirs don't have tenor and bass, it's just the chanter (can be a choir in the same range) and the drone (either a lone person or a modern innovation is a device that "hums" the drone note)

It's not what I'd expect to listen in a byzantine service (the scale is tempered, which makes the chant sound harmonized), but I will say it achieves in creating a spirit of solemnity and deep-felt devotion. (Given the fact that the Lamentations are chanted in triumphant modes, I think a but more 'stoutness' wouldn't hurt either - but it's a decent performance nonetheless)
