Remember, people study martial arts from a very, young age in China. I'm guess that Sifu Sunny is in his late forties or early fifties. He may be older but has clearly taken good care of himself.
man has a point if tradition means u arent allowed to evolve or develope ur self or try to reach perfekt in the road wich been showed to u by ur sifu then i dont want any part for it to honor ur sifu and school u hawe to try be the best as possible and had knowledge as much as possible if u larger ur awereness of diffent consepts it is not a petrayall to ur master
The key is the word "balance". But if you look at tennis players and badminton players, they can recover their balance after big movements fairly easily. So, the key becomes how to "recover" from your big movements. If you are able to recover back to the correct stance, then why not? The correct history of "wing chun" is that it was introduced into Guangdong by a guy from Wubei who could not speak Cantonese. The word "wing" is pronounced THE SAME for many different Chinese words, such as 永, 詠, 泳 in the Wubei dialect, ... I suspect the original word can possibly be "泳", meaning "swim". If you look at the hand forms of Wing Chun, you can see that they are using swimming techniques that utilize a lot of shoulder movements to make them efficient and effortless. But the problem of using that word is that it doesn't sound well. No one will practice a kung fu using a swimming technique. Why is Kung Fu related to swimming, you may ask. Wubei is famous for its big lakes and rivers. Everyone in Wubei practiced not only Kung Fu but swimming in the old days! My father was originally from Wu Bei. LOL
Excellent sifu. Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage.
Thanks
You, Sifu Sergio, have a diamond heart, sir.
Thank you Sergey for video on the art of Wing Chun
I totally agree with this view of preserving the arts, so true that no one person has all the answers. Thank you
Very interesting Sergio, many thanks!
Great interview. I wonder if Sifu So traveled to Okinawa to study Okinawan Karate?
